Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

Got $20 in the bank for KI and Battlefield 4 paid off. Now ship me my system, Amazon. So friggin' hyped.

The hardest decision I'm having to make right now is whether or not to buy Mario 3D World and play it until my XB1 comes in and put that money toward another XB1 game. I'm pretty certain Mario will be the better game than any extra game I'd scoop up, but it's hard to not want a bunch of games for your new system.

Well, AC, COD, and Battlefield don't, which are major titles don't, so how so?

DR3 and CoD are 720p. 900p (Ryse has good AA) is fine. 720p with some brilliant AA solution is also fine. Most XB1 games will probably be native 1080p though. Unless 900p ends up being a favourite.

Everything else is rendered at/scaled to whatever you set the output resolution to.

Lol nice title and great OT.

I'm not getting one myself but I wish you all the best of luck when you get your's and I hope your launch goes smoothly!

Have fun :)

Can't wait to stick that big ass box under my TV

Mine has to go next to my TV on a small glass table, no space lol. It's weird I hated the style of it at first and now I freaking love the design.

I just had to keep looking at it for months for it to grow on me. If it was just a bit smaller it would be perfect imo. Oh I got to hold the controller yesterday...

Hnnnngh. Much improved.

Ok so given this information, how are most XB1 games going to be native 1080p? If these simple multiplatforms that are based on current gen technology like COD and Assassins Creed cannot even output at this resolution. That is my point. The line in this thread's subject 'Resolution is fine' is pretty damn foolish. Ask anyone in the development industry, and it's standard for multiplatform games to be developed on the less powerful console with upgraded features on the more powerful platforms. And the XO couldn't even do 1080p on current gen games without substantial compromise!

Two of those titles need day one patches to be 1080p on PS4. Doesn't exactly help your case on the point you're trying to make.

Not at all. Patched or not, that has no bearing on my argument. It's 1080p on the PS4 - fact, and that is all that matters. It is not on XO. Late development tools not allowing 1080p with ease and the priority of developing for current gen forcing these changes to be developed later are likely reasons for the patch and maybe even a MS agreement. Future titles will be 1080p out of the box.

Next UP:
Show off where you are putting your Xbox One.
Going to sleep now, so I may snap a shot tomorrow.
But honestly, I have got to clean out the space.
Hope the console actually fits where I play on it. There was an OG360 there before, so the XB1 should fit fine methinks.

Thanks Ford <3 Looking forward to Dead Rising 3 and Crimson Dragon in particular, expect good things of Forza as well despite some of the content amount worries. Ryse also looks like a simple, fun brawler that happens to be gorgeous so looking forward to that as well. Unless disaster strikes that's one hell of a launch! Especially when one takes into account the multiplatform stuff that I'm not getting because I either have a good gaming pc, or sports titles I'll probably buy on the PS4.

Gasp, should I cancel my preorder???

Yes, it is well known MS has forced developers by contract to show some form of parity with the PS4. Look it up. Who knows what exactly is in this agreement as it is not fully disclosed to the public.

No, you're just being crazy now. Think about it. It's not hard. There isn't parity outside of features is there?

KI is 720p too. Most other stuff seems to be 1080p though. Forza, the sports titles, NFS, everything that hasn't been mentioned. That should improve further for Xbone with better memory management. Launch is a rush.

Guys, don't argue resolutiongate in this thread - there are plenty of other threads especially for that.

It is silly. Sorry.

Yeah, i imagine the guys having HDD issues would disagree with you.

And yet Forza 5 runs at 1080p. Also the agreement thing is lol-worthy, try again.

I'm suddenly feeling more excitement for Xbox One after all the PS4 failures. I still haven't received my PS4 but I cannot help but expect it to be dead out of the box. That's the pessimist talking, I guess.

Hopefully Xbox One will launch without any problems.

BTW it's the OS thing. There is something about this whole snapping and controlling everything by voice that I don't know... feels more next-gen than the most next-gen graphics on the PS4? Like I want to try it even without any games? PS4 UI looks... familiar, like an upgrade to the Vita/PS3 one. Xbone's looks so fresh in comparisong. Uncommon.

I have this weird feeling (I am a 100% Sony guy BTW).

Here's hoping the build quality is good for all of you future Xbox One owners. Based on the numbers, it seems the PS4 came out somewhat okay for now, and hopefully you guys/gals get the same results.

The worst is if the stupid delivery men decide to treat your new shiny box like a hacky sack. Those stories make me want to punch the screen, haha.

Yeah, but the subject of this thread is 'Resolution is fine', which opens up the discussion.

So interpret it as "we're fine with the reported resolutions". We're well aware of the state of things, as it's been impossible to visit GAF in the last few months without being exposed to it. This thread is about anticipating the console's release. It's just not the appropriate venue for console wars business.

If where you live is like the UK, Nintendo games hold their price. These launch games will eventually lose their price but Mario won't.

Way more excited for the Xbox . (Getting a PS4 too)

KI, Forza, Kinect Fitness, Waverace clone, BF4 and I'm set.

The TV, snap, OS and twitter style following seems so cool too.

My fave little touch is the page showing what games people are playing.

Aww ur getting bf4 for xbone? Damn.

So has there been a final confirmation that there's no twitch streaming at launch? I feel like they would have talked more about it if it was there.

Jesus for your sake I hope no one on the internet gets a broken Xbox between now and launch.

What do I need to look up as I'm not having much luck finding anything that backs this up...

I realize right now that I don't own a single Van Damme movie. I'm not sure if I should be proud or ashamed of it. :p
(I liked Bloodsport as a kid, though)

I'm pumped and can't wait to have my X1 in it's rightful place under my TV.
I have nothing against Sony and if you choose a PS4 that is your choice, please don't hate on people choosing the X1.

And if you are whining about the resolution in this thread, please GTFO, there is a thread for that.

I'd also like to point out that if I was really that worried about resolution and FPS, why would I even game on a console when you can do much better on a PC?

Feel free to add me on Live guys, I'll be back on with some X1 games in my hands on Friday.
