So had my One for around 3 hours (UK) patch and games all installed, it's all very pretty and I'm very impressed. No idea what the issue with surround sound is, mine works just fine.
I'm so happy next gen is here.

Quick question - was it mentioned anywhere or is it true those who decides to import an Xbox One from the 21 launch countries and play/live outside of those launch countries, that their consoles would not allow activation of the games they play? Would this only be restricted to disc-based games or digital downloads as well?
Scenario: Xbox One console imported from the US, brought over to Malaysia. Physical games purchased are said to be region free, implying that they are playable, after activation, across the 21 launch countries. In this case, would the games remain un-activated, and therefore unplayable when the console is in Malaysia?

Ugh. That fucking sucks. I really like how the 360 just lets you pick a system language regardless of region and have the games played in that language. Fucking hate being forced into using a localized language. Yes, it's cool that they localize the OS and the games, but give me the option to switch it to English because there's no way on Earth I'm sitting through 3rd rate voice acting and poorly translated menus just because I'm not in an English speaking country. When Netflix launched in Mexico it was unusable for almost a year because of this same reason.
This is a dealbreaker if they don't change it soon.
You can do that but also means switching to the store of whatever region you change to, which means that the games you bought from your region might, or might not work, and stuff like Netflix won't work either unless you switch back to your own region since the apps are GeoFenced:

Compare that to an iOS device, where I can have my region set to Mexico, system Language in Arabic and a French keyboard or whatever combination I want because it's my goddammned device. Now that's good design.
I suspect the reason they are doing this is because they want to tie system language to the language of the store of your region so it doesn't look all disjointed (which happens on 360) but who gives a shit about that, I just want to play my games in English.

right but the GameSpot guys didn't seem to know that. They sounded excited about it and mentioned how well it worked for PS4 at launch.
I am in loveeeeeeeeeeee with the Xbox One. After queueing for almost an hour, and dropping my two friends off at home (your welcome guys) I got it set up and playing. Sure load times are a bit lame (especially boot up) but I've found the UI to be nice and snappy. I didn't think I'd be interested in Kinect but I am actually really impressed. I was looking for Killer Instinct and thought hey I'll just Bing it with Kinect, a second later I was there downloading it, rather than sifting through menu's.
The only real issue, which I already expected, is the rigid commands it needs. I sometimes say something that isn't recognised, it rarely ever mishears me though. 9 times out of 10 it has done what I say (when said correctly). But overall I'm liking the Kinect, I'm not as pissed because it was bundled in. But it needs the games that make good use of it to make it worthwhile.
I've only played CoD and Killer Instinct so far, but they seem fine. Nothing wrong to complain about graphically, I've not noticed the resolution to be poor or anything. The go to dash, then back into game instantly is nice, although I kinda miss the fact there is no menu pop up anymore. I suppose it isn't needed and I'll get used to it, but going to the dashboard instead of opening a menu to do simple things like messsage a friend feels weird atm.
The box itself is really sleek, not quite as big as I thought it would be and fits just fine where it is. Although the finish of it looks nice, I have a feeling the glossy bit is gonna show scratches and finger prints like hell. Oh, one last thing about Kinect, the viewing range is pretty damn good. I was really worried it wouldn't work for me because my room is cramped but, its not even on top of my TV (because it would fall off) it is sat on my desk which is about as high as waist, and I am sat on the end of my bed a metre away and it picks me up fine. I can't wait to give it a proper go tomorrow but I realllyyyyyyy need to go to sleep.
Edit: being able to say "Xbox, use a code" and show the QR code, is so much damn faster than typing in the damn 25 digit stuff. It is a godsend.

There shouldn't be a difference. The only thing is if you go digital you can switch games faster since you don't need the disc.
