Xbox One Launch Thread [Thread being archived 1/1/14]

Woo so my one turned up this afternoon and I've just popped out and bought forza, ghosts, ryse, battlefield and zoo tycoon.

If anyone wants a uk friend my gt is urbanpanda. Couple of pints in the pub then it's off home to set it all up. My wife already understands she doesn't exist to me tonight so not to expect any conversation.

So this is the only place that it fits. Is this going to be okay? All wood. I will move it up a shelf to get it further from noses though. And that damn USB port is going to be hard to reach.

I'm sorry if this was mentioned before, but how long are the digital downloads taking? I'm not keen on buying disc's if I don't need to.

Man this is fun, thinking about all the doom and gloom on Kinect (hell on the console) and here you have a French dude having no problems whatsoever with voice commands, paired that with smartglass and can be just playing, transition to messages, type on the iPad send it, go back to your game, unlock an achievement, go check it out, snap skype, unsnap, I mean this is fully functional for me.

Now it's not all positive, I'm playing 2K14 and while it's not fully installed (it takes a long ass time) the game runs great except when it gives your transition cuts or replays, you get the feel of 20fps, what gives? You ps4 peeps getting that too?

Oh and while Xbox on, Xbox turn off work great, it only affects the console on my setup, the receiver and tv don't react to it for some reason, even though I went in there and configured from the get go (the mute command worked).

Any way to set up the TV functions? It recognizes my voice commands but even if I say Xbox watch fox it takes me to espn news. Every time I say any channel it takes me to espn news.....

Man I love the console so much everything feels so slick but it sucks so fucking much that they took away game sharing. My wife and I each got an XB1 and on the 360 I could download games to her console and then we would both have a copy to play together. There were 4 games we were going to buy to play together online but now I think I will wait on everything and buy everything once it goes down in price. What a stupid fucking ddecision by them.

This is a lame and weird thing to be excited about, but I always love this in packaging:

It's really easy and elegant to pack everything back up again too.

I love the little tray/drawer of accessories/Kinect.

How Tos and Tutorials should appear as an option.

Also I have found that on hard to understand acronyms (HGTV versus HDTV for example) if you add HGTV to your favorites, it gets much better at drawing the distinction.

Yes, but you should leave the space above it to let air circulate better, IMO. The top vents are the main ones apparently.

Good news it seems.... I posted earlier that xbox.com is not showing x1 info anywhere as far as games and activity.

This was from Xbox support via trueachievements.com

"That's correct for now. We'll be bringing that experience to http://xbox.com soon. :) ^EM"

So as long as that was not a lie all those sites should get their feeds back at some point.

Thought you could do that with digital and I know they are updating their game sharing stuff. The 180 stopped certain features from being there at launch.

Hay guyz, how is this? Should I put the 360 beneath it or keep them side by side? May move the router and modem under the One and then store controllers on that right bank.

I've been trying for the past few hours in vain to redeem some MS points codes on xbox.com. I'm getting some serious server-side script error:

Heat rises. The lowest device tends to be the coolest. I position all my electronics for heat/noise/cable logic.

I'm not really convinced by the X1. Installing AC4 and Need for Speed took half an hour each. The graphics don't really have a "wow" factor.

Kinect Sports Preseason should be pretty fun for multiplayer though - still waiting for the download to finish...

I have $160 MS bucks and I still don't know what to buy besides KI. I was thinking of getting DR3, but I've heard it still has framerate issues from a friend. How bad is it?

So I got my XB1 this morning at 9am but I have to work the rest of the day. I have client calls from 10am to 1pm. I work from home when I'm not traveling and the XB1 is staring me in the face. Such a tease.

Picture keeps freezing when I try to watch TV. Running a Dish receiver through the xbox. It worked fine last night.

Until 3rd parties stop making games that are cross gen, they are not going to take advantage of the xbox and ps4's power.

So my disk drive may be borked and I am currently stuck with only digital titles until GameStop gets a replacement for me, but hell if Kinect Sports isn't really awesome! The fidelity on the new Kinect is night and day better than 1.0...so fun - can't wait for more to be added to that game.
Also really impressed that I don't have to resign in to all my apps since DLing them onto the One. Netflix popped right up and asked if I wanted to resume watching the show I was watching last night without any log in stuff...very cool.

Wow, is it normal for it to take FOREVER to turn on?

It took forever when I first turned it on and then updated, and now it's taking forever again after restart?

The voice is working great for me. Just speak slowly and project your voice, and it works more than 90% of the time for me. The guys in the streams just don't know how to use it.

The Bing feature is amazing. It has been very easy to browse movies and music for me, and I am currently using my free trial of XBox music to check out lots of musicians/songs that I had an interest in. Doing all of this with voice while making myself lunch and doing housework is incredible.

Think I am just going to do it side by side. I dont want to tackle behind the tv more than I have to and it will also keep the 360 from kitty noses.

I figured it out. I went into settings and I set my wifes console as my home console. Now any profile can play downloaded games on that console without me being signed in. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
