Xbox One- what would it take to get YOU to buy one ?

Halo 5

Also Conker would have got me to buy one. When they showed off Conker in Project Spark it was like they put an xbox in my hand then quickly took it back.

People underestimate the power of this franchise... People have a passion for this, that is not matched by a lot of other franchises. And this basically creates one happy place where halo fans of all creeds can come together. Some like halo 3 the most, some halo 2 and some only ever loved halo 1. All will come together and have fun in unity come november ;)

I'm really looking forward to a lot of games this holiday season (basically I play everything), but if I could only have one, it would be the mcc...

Halo 4 killed a lot of goodwill the franchise had, and Bungie is going to bring a lot of their fans with them to Destiny.

You should see how they're advertising it here in Japan.

Edit: Damn. Is imageshack banned on gaf? I'll rehost it later. At work now.

Here and wow hahhaa

I could give a list of bullshit hoops for Microsoft to jump through but I just don't want one. Three consoles (Wii U, PS4, PS3) plus handhelds takes up enough of my time.

For me to be even slightly interested, though, there would need to be a new, vastly slimmer SKU, much cheaper price and some killer exclusives as I'd be buying multiplats on PS4.

So, like I said, bullshit hoops.

I think it killed a lot less goodwill than you think. People who played halo 1-4 will also play halo 5. One "not as good as the other ones but still great if it wasn't called halo" game won't destroy or even badly hurt this franchise, way to big for that.(People who think that are usually people that never liked halo in the first place) And even if it would have, all people not liking halo 4 and wanting their old halo back are getting it with the mcc.

Regarding destiny, that is just too different. You can't get your halo fix with destiny. It's a good game but it's not halo. People still want their halo, no matter what bungie is doing ;)

Not sure still on the fence

I got to try the xbone at a friends house he imported it from the UK and being in Norway it still does not have any appeal for me since it still has not been released officially here.

Will wait until the official release too see what services Microsoft has managed to include in the Scandinavian territories before I make a decision.

Being a Halo fan I probably will get it down the line but I currently have a ps4 and pretty happy with that at the moment.

I don't know if I'd call Halo 4 great as its own game, but I agree. Nothing in it killed the franchise from what I could tell, at least not in the way Mass Effect and Dead Space ended up.

Destiny would be a good Halo fix if it had decent vehicles and balance to them. Some land speeders and that terrible Interceptor are not what I expect from the people who gave us the Warthog and the Wraith.

That is why I believe it killed more goodwill than you think. As a somewhat displeased Halo fan I see MCC as bait to pull the franchise back into a positive light. MCC plays heavily on nostalgia featuring the "good" Halos untouched and Halo 4. No matter how much you hated Halo 4 they know you're gonna buy MCC if you're a real fan, plus it offers enough value to create new fans. That said the Halo 5 beta is included to win you back over if Halo 4 put a horrid taste in your mouth. Get to play the 3 classics graphically updated on one disc, on one ecosystem and get to make sure Halo 5 doesn't burn you again. Win/win.

I'm in the same boat. I don't have the time much less the room for one. I have a PS4 and WiiU that are barely used as it is, a 360 that hasn't been turned on in months, PC and PS3/Vita seem to get most of my attention as far as games go at the moment. I don't really care for MS first party games. Their exclusives seem to be all headed to PC anyway and my PC is much better than an Xbox One. $199 and some great truly exclusive games could do the trick for me, but that's 3 years down the road at least if it happens at all.

I currently have a gaming PC and a ps4. The trend of Xbox exclusives coming to PC seems to continue and I don't think just a few games would make me buy one.
Thinking about it, it is really hard to find a possible reason. Maybe if the made multiplayer free of charge and gave away at least one good game a month. I know this is unrealistic but I can't think of realistic reasons to buy one.

A good handful of must play exclusives. Otherwise, there isn't much reason for me to pick an Xbox One over the PS4/PC versions of games.

Once the Xbox One has 5-10 good quality exclusives I'll probably pick one up for those games specifically.

A huge price drop. The sort of price drop you only really get towards the end of a generation cycle.

I'm really not all that interested in getting an Xbox One. Even without the shit they tried to pull at the beginning of this generation, I decided I wasn't going to get another Xbox this gen anyway. About half way through last gen, I stopped playing games on my 360 altogether. This was mainly due to me buying most of my multiplatform games on PC. I also didn't like Microsoft's policies for Xbox Live.

There were a few games that made the 360 worth having I suppose. There were a few exclusives, such as Dead Rising and Lost Odyssey, which I really liked. There were also a number of multiplatform games that weren't actually released on PC. These include Bayonetta and Red Dead Redemption. Both games of course were better on 360 than on the PS3.

With the Xbox One however, it is unlikely it will ever have the multiplatform advantage, and while there are a couple of exclusives that look interesting, like the 360 it seems a lot more of those Xbox One exclusives will make their way to PC than PS4 exclusives.

1. Price: under 200€

2. Some nice exclusives, especially Halo and Sunset Overdrive. It seems that they are delivering.

So I guess I'll get it eventually. PS4 is just so much better, imo, no contest.

Games that won't eventually end up wandering across to Playstation and PC.

Based on their previous generation form, I don't think that will happen.

Nothing exclusive appeals to me on XB1 at the moment. The titles that I am looking forward to is Bloodborne and multiplats like Witcher, Dragon Age, Evil Within. I dunno, maybe I'll grab one at the end of its life cycle when the slim or super slim is out and all exclusives are available. That's a maybe only, have to see if future exclusive will interest me.

- A redesign. That big box literally doesn't fit in my entertainment center.
- € 200 max
- An exclusive game big enough to warrant a purchase. Not Gears, Halo, Forza, SO, Scalebound or other already announced games.

Bloodborne would have been it. Fallout 4 would be it. Next Elders Scrolls would be it.

These kiosks are also in America.

Sorry. Haven't set foot outside Japan in two and a half years, so didn't realize.

Actually that's not really how they're advertising it. The gamestop kiosks of the XB1 here in the states look just like that. Everyone's known all along that that's just half (maybe not even half) of an actual unit, and that it's not a functional console.

The thing is, I haven't seen anything representative of the actual console in Japan, so it could be a little misleading. I know that many japanese gamers baulked at the size of the og xbox.

The price is ok now. The UI on the system is just garbage to me. Slow loading for simple stuff like friends list and checking Achievements..Over haul it please.

Games that I want to play. So far, it only has Scalebound, and we know next to nothing about it anyway. Last gen I bought a 360 for Cave ports and ended up buying a few other games (mostly fighting games) so they'd need to do something similar.

More exclusives as well as a lull of games to play on the systems I currently do own. Unless one of those exclusives makes me want it so bad, I don't see the point of buying new platforms when the ones I already own still have games I want to play on them.

It's not just about interesting titles and money, but also having the time to play said games among all the other responsibilities I have. Contrary to most opinions I've seen over the last year, I've never had a major problem with the Xbox One. PS4 was the obvious choice due to Japanese games (even if there will be less than previous gens), Wii U is for Zelda and more Japanese games so that'll be my next purchase. That leaves Xbox One as my last system to get by default and only when I have the time for it, despite the fact I don't really find much wrong with the system

Free online multiplayer
$299 or less

Killer instinct. I know, it's a long shot, but that would get me buying one on day one.

(I said a little more than a year and a few legitimate nerdgasms ago)

Now as to what would get me PLAYING it over my PS4.. I think the obvious answer there is MCC. Followed closely by Sunset overdrive, because I just love how a developer/publisher that Isn't Nintendo for once has decided to put something colorful up front as one of their marquee titles.

I've changed my mind since yesterday - like a true nerd I made a spreadsheet comparing the PS4 and the XBO and my PC setup with last gen consoles and found that there are enough games coming out and due to my friends sticking with MS for me to upgrade so I plan on getting an XBO pretty soon. I might wait a bit since there's still not much I care about until next month (Forza Horizon 2 and Destiny) for a deal but I might just get it sooner.

$149 Canadian Dollars
Halo 5 packed-in
Exclusive "sorry for offending your principles" achievement and commemorative controller.
Free year of live.
Exclusive Don Mattrick "Fired" achievement.

jk

I can't think of a reason. I've got more than enough things that I can play games on. I've got games that I'd like to play on systems that I already have that I haven't gotten around to yet. No need to add another console into the mix.

The announcement that Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was in development as a multiplat has been money-hatted by Microsoft makes me want to purchase an Xbone even less.
Don't wish to give money to them to spend it that way.

This.
I mean, let them have their exclusives.
But don't steal an IP (in the same gen) from people who played the predecessors :/

If Forza 6 finally has flipping dynamic weather, variable time of day, and ships with more than 14 flipping tracks (sorry, environments)!

And if the system were 100 bucks cheaper.

TR would help I guess. Not happy they paid for that.

I'm already conviced now that I will buy one some day. But only in a few years. I'll get a PS4 first. Simply because most of my friends get one, I have already a PS+ subscribe and multiplat titles look better on PS4.
Will get the X1 for exclusives one day

Too much emphasis on guns and explosions. I prefer games that put a smile on my face (own a Wii U, would love to own a PS4, as I know Sony will deliver eventually).

Not a Microsoft hater, I actually own an Xbox 360 and like it a lot, but I've noticed my favorite games on the system are the weirder ones (such as Catherine) and mostly third party (Final Fantasy XIII, Skyrim). Loved Halo Anniversary deeply, hated Halo 3, don't want more Halo.
