First Party is handled by Matt Booty. And it seems like after Avowed, Obsidian may work on a Fallout game.

You're right this probably isn’t an obsidian game, but I don’t think a fallout is coming from them anytime soon. Whatever RPG the team that made the Outer worlds is working on, it’s been in the works since well before the acquisition, and I’m not sure they could really start working on Fallout until the deal is official. I’d be shocked if there were anything more than preliminary discussions at this point.

It took a few minutes for mine to populate.
Thanks but not working.

5 TB missing and all I can hear is Major Nelson saying just plug in your external hdd and your games will be there. All I'm getting is 10 gb/hr, so approx just under 3 weeks of downloading the fucking wanker.

1) Did you try different USB-ports?

2) This reminds me that when I inserted an USB-stick to the front port (for captures), XSX didn't recognize it the first time. It worked on second try when I went was at the "Storage" in settings to verify it was working.

It recognizes the hdd but only about 20 games showing up when I plug back into XB1X they're all there and playable.

Anyone having trouble getting their optimized games to play? Dirt, horizon, Gears, Ori all showed as optimized. I started each game and each one said there were updates to download. Downloaded the updates, but the games don’t launch or still show stuff needs to download. These games were all on an external prior to setting up my X. Any help would be appreciated.

Many have similar experiences. I also had to install several updates to the optimized games I had pre-downloaded on external first.

Some people have duplicates of the games. Some people deleted the existing games and redownloaded them to get them to work.

So, you are not alone. The reason for that behavior is yet unclear.

Have anyone tried this?

Can anyone with a 4K 120hz tv do a test please.

I was playing COD mw last night and I noticed straight away that it felt really smooth. Anyway, I hit the info button on my tv remote (Samsung Q80T) and it was displaying that the game was running at over 110fps. It wasn’t choppy because the VRR was smoothing things out.

Please someone check and post back

Check what exactly?

Put your tv in the same settings, and see what you are getting! Obviously it helps if your tv tells you the hz when you hit the info button.

Sorry if it wasn’t clear. Samsung TVs do if you have VRR activated
Ah sorry, I just read your post like 4 times and wasn't sure what it is that you want people to check. Now it's clear. I don't own Series X so can't help. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Maybe Microsoft should implement system FPS counter like we have on PC?

Made a crappy phPBB forum once ... once.
So finally got it all set up, done the update etc.

It’s been off for about 12 hours now, come along to the dash this morning just to have a look round see what’s what - it gets very warm on the top very quickly even on the dash. I don’t mean I can fry an egg just even in, what you would think idle state not playing an intensive game or downloading anything, it’s warm.

Does it get a lot warmer when playing a game? I’m not trolling or being anti anything, just want to make sure it’s not defective I’m just concerned that while doing nothing on the dashboard it’s generating a lot of heat.

Are yours the same?

I have mine laying horizontally with plenty of ventilation and it is not getting too hot at all

Just set it all up last night. Went for a fresh install of everything be as clean as possible. I had no external drive to transfer over anyway. No issues with Live or download speed, everything good - think it helps to be a couple of days behind the hoard ;)

First impressions are the UI is now super quick, everything just responds the way you want it to, no pauses, no waits. Excellent.

Only thing I got to play was FH4. This has some graphical improvements but not an obvious leap from X1X in terms of clarity and image quality. It does change from 30fps to 60fps though and that is very noticeable and feels great playing. Possibly more important are the load time reductions. It loads up into the game really quickly and fast travel is a just a few seconds, makes such a big difference to playing the game.

The big feature quick resume is currently not so impressive. Known issue but it simply is very flaky and unreliable from what I experienced. This was just me powering down to rest mode and powering back up and going back into the same game. Worked once and then the second time it just restarted the game.

The interface is very good at labelling (it a way too obvious fashion) which games are X|S enhanced/optimised and you can group or filter by that too. EA Play integration is similar to GP - i.e. it feels part of the OS rather than something you launch into. So many games.

Great writeup! Thanks!

I've actually had the opposite experience with QR. Since Tuesday I've juggled four games on the memory (Ori 2, Final Fantasy XV, Nier Automata and Sonic Generations) and haven't lost progress in any, was beginning to think I'd never see their start up logos again. Can't get Yakuza Like a Dragon to stick though, so maybe it's game-by-game or I've just got too many on there.

Either way, it continues to blow my mind.

Ask me about my fanboy energy!
Yeah sadly it's a fake, held by a wire sticking out of the grill. It's absolutely 2020 that within a day we've got people sticking wires and vaping into the console

We can hold a ping pong ball in air with a hair dryer. Although we may still need someone who actually has a ping pong ball to test this.

Yeah. Mine is vertical. I haven’t played a game yet which is a bit silly, even with GP I’ve played already what I want to play previously. But was worried that mine was defective.

I must stress and it’s difficult to portray on a forum people’s opinions it’s not hot as in Jesus it’s going to scald a small child, it’s just very warm on the dash. It’s not downloading / updating as far as I can see.

No joy. Even when i select storage it says 313gb available out of 3.6tb the 1 hdd. I've completely reset the console as well but still no joy.
Format it on PC, seems like a formated only 313 partition and rest is something else. Disk Utils in Windows will help you.

It's also buggy on X1X from time to time, so it's definitely a game thing. Have you reached the ice slides yet?

Is it in a well ventilated area? Have you tried holding the button in longer? Have you tried unplugging and replugging everything?

Is it vertical or horizontal?
Yeah, I've tried everything you can thing off. Spoke to MS and they said to return it to my retailer.
Returned it to Tesco and they could only refund me.

It's a sad day and I'm gutted but life goes on. People are struggling with covid so it could be worse.

Guys, I'm having some issues with the Instant On mode. My downloads are being interrupted when turning off the console.
I used this feature a lot on the Xbox One but now, for some reason, it's not working.

just spend a bit of time playing about with the Series X. some things i'm not sure about:

1. when i'm going through the UI the little noises it makes sometimes sound crackled/distorted. anyone else having this? i loaded up skate 3 and sounds are fine. seems to be a UI sound issue. i was freaking out incase it was my TV lol.

2. if i use the Energy mode instead of instant on am i ok to unplug it? i did this last night thinking the console was off but i noticed the fan was still spinning. do i really need to go way into settings to do a full shutdown every time? i don't want to leave the console on all the time but i also want it to download games if i put it into standby.

3. when i deleted xbox profile the console seems to reboot and one time it booted up in really low resolution. is it meant to reboot or is this a bug?

what way are you turning it off? i just downloaded watch dogs in standby mode while i went to the shops. i checked my router to see if the xbox was still downloading while off and it was.

I changed it to Instant On, chose "turn off console" when holding the xbox button and that's it.
