Those both sound absolutely horrible. Dang, that's awful. Hopefully they're back to full price soon.Dumping: Dumping, in economics, is a form of predatory pricing, especially in the context of international trade. It occurs when manufacturers export a product to another country at a price below the normal price with an injuring effect. The objective of dumping is to increase market share in a foreign market by driving out competition and thereby create a monopoly situation where the exporter will be able to unilaterally dictate price and quality of the product.
Liquidation: Liquidation generally refers to the process of selling off a company's inventory, typically at a big discount, to generate cash. In most cases, a liquidation sale is a precursor to a business closing. Once all the assets have been sold, the business is shut down.

Been thinking about this too…But then I remembered I'd have to set foot in a GameStop.Damn, I need to take my Series X to Gamestop pronto before the trade in value disappears.
I just bought a PC. I will miss the quick resume but I hear that windows might get that feature some time, some day, maybe.
I believe it's the retailers getting a big supply for November, expecting it to be sold out, but it didn't so now they are clearing inventory on that miscalculation.Dumping: Dumping, in economics, is a form of predatory pricing, especially in the context of international trade. Or you know traditional discounts 3 years into the gen?Dumping: Dumping, in economics, is a form of predatory pricing, especially in the context of international trade. THE PS4 SLIM GOES $50 OFF
A bundle including the 500 GB PlayStation 4 Slim with Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will cost $250 on and around Black Friday. That's down from the usual $300 sticker price, and some retailers are throwing in additional games (namely Ratchet & Clank and The Last of Us Remastered) alongside this year's Nathan Drake adventure.
This clearly isn't that traditional 3 year discount.Or you know traditional discounts 3 years into the gen?
So glad I sold my XSX earlier this year.

I sold my launch XSX for $350 like a week before these deals starting dropping. I thought I was giving the buyer a nice deal at the time. Glad I sold it when I did.
Yeah that is fair, this is more a case of overstocking clearance. Granted, there is a fine line between clearance and liquidation, particularly if the overstocking is perpetual.I believe it's the retailers getting a big supply for November, expecting it to be sold out, but it didn't so now they are clearing inventory on that miscalculation.
One of these is a pre-planned strategic discount targeted for a very specific and well known shopping day known for discounting, the other is a discount on Tuesday December 19.Or you know traditional discounts 3 years into the gen?
Here is the PS4 slim for $250 in Holiday 2016. With a free Uncharted 4 game, free ratchet and TLOU remaster. 3 free games. $150 off from the MSRP at launch. XSX is $160 off from the MSRP at launch and comes with no free games. Let alone two of their biggest free games of the year like Uncharted 4 and Ratchet remake back in 2016.
I had sold mine back in the summer to a friend for $450 with a second controllerI sold my launch XSX for $350 like a week before these deals starting dropping. I thought I was giving the buyer a nice deal at the time. Glad I sold it when I did.
I have an OG Switch that can be easily hacked so I'm hanging onto it even with the Switch 2 (or whatever they call it)I'll be doing the same thing early next year with my PS5 and Switch in anticipation of new hardware. Will be flying solo PC for a while.
what difference does it make? The console has been out for 3 years. Why cant it go on a $150 discount?Yeah that is fair, this is more a case of overstocking clearance. Granted, there is a fine line between clearance and liquidation, particularly if the overstocking is perpetual.

It's all affordable and disgusting. Probably homeless people in line to get one. It's getting to the point where they can't give them away. I nearly bought one of these at full price awhile back.

And Target had this $350 last week followed by Walmart last weekend and amazon earlier this week. It seems pretty coordinated to me. console sold like shit last month so yeah, its market correction at its best. These console manufacturers cant keep selling $500 consoles for the entire fucking gen. This is the market telling them to stop ripping us off.

When 70% of your subscriber base is locked to the box, selling them indeed does matter to drive the subscription engagement numbers. This will be given away for free with a package of Doritos in 2 years. Holy shit...
I wouldn't worry until you start seeing $299.99 w/ 3 months free GamepassIt was $399.
Was this shit not selling well enough even at that price?
What will they do next year?
Phil needs to start writing his notes for that meeting with satya. Cause 2027 is looking like 2024.
They can keep selling them for whatever the market will bear. For Nintendo that is a Switch at $350 on December 19. For Sony that is a PS5 at $500 on December 19. For Microsoft that is an Xbox for $350 on December 19.what difference does it make? The console has been out for 3 years. Why cant it go on a $150 discount?

Clearance levels of pricing.

When daddys pays for everything they can afford it.It REALLY makes you wonder what's going on over there in Redmond. They have to be losing close to $300 per console at these prices. How can the Xbox brand afford this?

HeisenbergFX4 That 2025 launch is looking more and more plausible now...
Negative implications aside, it worked for me. I bought one and got Game Pass. They can keep selling them for whatever the market will bear. For Nintendo that is a Switch at $350 on December 19. For Sony that is a PS5 at $500 on December 19. For Microsoft that is an Xbox for $350 on December 19.
Clearly Microsoft is not in control of their pricing anymore. $350 probably barely covers the cost to manufacture one of the consoles.
Sony consoles with god of war were on sale sub $500 literally all year. They can keep selling them for whatever the market will bear. For Nintendo that is a Switch at $350 on December 19. For Sony that is a PS5 at $500 on December 19. For Microsoft that is an Xbox for $350 on December 19.
