As far as I can tell for the most part, Microsoft and Sony’s load times are very similar aside from a couple slide games. Which in any case, I would hope, you wouldn’t wanna brag about your solid-state drive and have it not function as intended.

I'm starting to question the need for expensive PCI-e 4.0 SSD's for gaming PC's if one of the two next-gen consoles is using the same old PCI-e 3.0 storage as today's PC's. I was pretty excited about maybe upgrading to a Samsung 980 Pro to try and keep up with PS5 but if next-gen games will be taking the slower storage of XSeX into account then there will be minimal benefit, anything cross-platform will be optimized for the slow storage of XSeX and really only PS5 exclusive titles will benefit from the faster storage and that's hardly worth splashing out on a new PC SSD for.

I still have a Samsung 970 Pro in my main gaming PC and that seems fine for now. Let's wait and see, PCMR types.

of course pc need to wait and see....
if ssd paragdim shift is the same as async compute one it will be really done the generation after this one for most studios

But even though, using full 4x lanes is better to avoid data accidently cramped in one lane or another, but it's already 4 channel and DRAM-less, low budget so no way it'll saturate that.

In practice this won’t really make any difference. The PCIE 4.0 specification isn’t really needed in this case and I would even argue, that it would be overkill for the 2.4 gigabyte/s read Speed. The Xbox SSD is far from even maxing the PCIE 3.0 max speed, which is why this should be a non issue. About the only downside is that they kinda told a half truth, but it’s a company trying to sell their product. They will say what ever they have to in order to sell their product. In this case no one should really care as this does not affect performance in any way.

There’s a damn sight more than GPU CPU clocks that determine an overall system performance. Software and optimisation also play a pivotal role.
In the end both systems will be equally matched. I’m happy to be proven wrong.
At the end of the day it always comes down to the games.

I've seen it for myself though, the XSX SSD is fast and can be demonstrated. I've seen the box bruteforce older games to their highest potential pre-update. It might not be as fast as the PS5 but a mere second or five isn't the end of the world, it's still a gigantic leap over the last generation.

If Xbox have lied, it will come out and you can celebrate with glee. I'm just going to be playing games on it by Tuesday and enjoying myself rather than making guesses about the tech inside. You can cry about it on here if you like.

It means they're not as good, nothing as good in the market so far even with those 7GB/s around. You need to have that smooth ratio to avoid data cramping and generating too much heat = throttling. Also PS5's SSD has 6 unique priority levels to make orders vs 2 elsewhere which could result in lip sync, audio/effect lag issues, and other stuff. That's why none are certified yet.

you misunderstood. Youbrought up a bulletpoint(worlds most powerful console) in . I was pointing out 2 other bullet points.(full rdna and 4.0 drive)
That’s why I was advising caution. As far as the power and what we’ve seen, I’ve seen parity from all early reports. So that doesn’t add up to what we heard for months about the flops advantage. We(you) were told a 18% more powerful console. It ain’t that.
