Xbox Series X... Worst name of any Console?

There are literally mockup trailers for the "next xbox" all over Youtube published before the May conference, are you freaking serious?

Even this isn't showing anything to the public, it's a mock-up, just like how it was done for the Xbox One, they don't even show you the console, the console will be revealed either right before E3 like last time or at E3.

You either can't read or are being purposefully annoying. MICROSOFT never released anything to the public. Mock ups or not. It's not a thing. If you think it is, go ahead and post it. But you won't be able to because it doesn't exist.

i mean the fact alone the wii u is the most common thing people compare shitty names to should tell you that it was the pinnacle of shit names.

I don't see anything wrong with the name. They've never gotten behind simple consecutive numbers, and I actually like this better than One or 360.

Can't say I like the name when you say it full out, but Xbox SX doesn't sound bad.
I do really like the design though, it's clean/classy/elegant looking.

Best Name ever, cause they chose it in mind that all haters name it XSeX.

Sex is great thing! Way better than a bone!

Laugh.🤣

Genious!

It's a confusing name, you got Xbox One X and Xbox Series X. That could be a problem with the less informed consumer buying the Xbox One X by mistake when they wanted the Series X. But that's only a problem as long as the XB1X is still on the market.

They introducing various series.

In the future there are series x, which was the most powerful, then series s, which was the budget version an the series C, which was the cloud version....

I think it was the right way!

An I like the Sex thing, cause everybody want it...

You cant beat WiiU

But the Xbox Series X will have a problem. Because I dont know if dumbians will know what that is. Its to close in name to the XBOX ONE X.

If its backwards compatible anyway and if that is Microsofts strategy going forward.

Just call it XBOX thats it.

And if you have to.... do it like amazon does. You know like Fire 7 (2019) Fire 7 (2016) etc.

So
XBOX (2020)
XBOX (2025)
XBOX (2030)

Like some car manufacturers do it too.

Oh yeah i officially declare it XBXS (sounds like Xbox excess) The name already implies that its to much of a name lol

And what happens if its going to have an S and X version?

XBOX Series X X? XBOX Series X S?

are you really THAT stupid? lol

there will be two consoles going forward:

Xbox Series X -> most powerful console
Xbox Series S -> great value for price.

That's it. They won't sell xbox one anymore, since the series S is compatible with all games and all accessories, why would they still sell the old xbox? no need for that.

also NO CONFUSION. Just two models: S --> great value for price, but not best quality, X --> best quality.

What exactly is so hard about that to understand?! Seriously?!

If you want to play ALL games but dont need the BEST graphics --> go with S
If you want to play ALL games and have the BEST graphics --> go with X.

Done.
What exactly don't you get about that?

Also, XBXS? That's doesn't make any sense at all. Like how and why did you come to this name?

It really makes it sound like it's part of the same family / generation as Xbox One X / One S

They should honestly be trying to distance themselves from the failures of Xbox One and pushing a clean slate

This will be doa guaranteed and sony have a free run, just hope they don't mess it up. The series x is basically like the original xbox one, a big boring bland box.

I'm more curious as to why it matters to you. The name is literally the last thing I care about in a console. It could be called Xbox turd, and if it plays games nicely, I'd still be perfectly happy about it.

Lol, that was the reason why Wii U sold sooo poorly. People were confused

Name could make a lot of sense once we get more info.

It's a Series in what way?
I have to imagine that years of leaks and rumors pointing to a lower spec SKU along with the name having "Series" in it almost confirms that when they give us the real reveal, they will show the Series S.

IMO "Xbox X Series" would've sound much better - same letters, same words, but different order makes such a difference in spelling the name.

Considering MS's odd numbering of products in both Windows and consoles over the years/decades, they should just call it "Xbox 10" or "Xbox Ten" (which X is the Roman numeral for).

Would also make sense since they've been trying to make Windows 10 and Xbox seamlessly compatible. :)

Could even hype it as "ten times more powerful".

I could see several reasons behind their naming convention, one of which would give them flexibility to put the "XBOX series"... in their line up of consoles/hardware. They could also introduce several tiers of consoles, according to their specs/prices.

XBOX Series X (premium)
XBOX Series S (Lockhart)
XBOX Series Z (their next pro update lol)
XBOX Series Cloud, etc.

I am not saying that this is a great naming, but I think this is far from the worst.

short and less confusion
xbox
Sbox
Zbox
🤔

Are they naming a car or a console?

How will they separate the lockhart from the scarlett in names after?
Xbox Series X lite vs Xbox Series X?
Xbox series X 1 and 2?
and the midgen refreshes?
Xbox series X X vs Xbox series X lite X?
Xbox names have always been kind of stupid really. xbox elite, xbox one s all digital edition, xbox one (3), etc. I think from now on they will just go xbox, and xbox series x and just keep releasing hardware every 2 years like some kind of iPad.
short and less confusion
xbox
Sbox
Zbox
🤔
Zbox is actually a mini computer that I own made by Zotac

Well apparently I'm not even half as stupid as you are.

Wii was last gen
WiiU was the next gen.
If you want the newer games go buy WiiU.

NO CONFUSION just two different generations of consoles.

What exactly is hard about that to understand? Seriously?

......

And look what happened. People didn't know the fucking difference.

You know not everyone is like you. (Thank God btw.)

We never ever had old consoles still on shelves when new ones hit the stores right? RIGHT?!?

Who said they would keep selling the old Xbox until the end of the Series' generation? They will both be in stores for just a few months and thats completely normal.

Be less arrogant and a bit more polite and believe that there is people even less smart than you that DO NOT understand the difference between XBOX one X and XBOX Series X so you don't fail that hard in trying to feel smarter than a random person in an internet forum.

Done

p.s.
Oh yeah I forgot the LOL. There you go: LOL.

No actually the Wii name fit perfectly with Nintendo and nobody has issue with it post launch. the console sold very well and it was never a problem.

The WiiU name was problematic because of how Nintendo Announced and marketed the entire platform.
No Wii is a fucked name, doesn't matter how it sold.

Name is a mistake in my opinion, it's kinda the same mistake Nintendo did with Wii U.
First of all ''series'' does not immediatly refers to a single product but to a family of products and this is the first source of confusion.
Then Series X will make people think that the current Xbox One X belongs to this series X (Xs everywhere by the way lol).
It's a choice that maybe fits with their strategy of focusing on whole ecosystem and not on the single product but it's a bad name if the goal is to make clear what the new console is and give it a precise identity.

People are just going to call it "Series X". They may as well have dropped the "Xbox" part.

Also, Xbox SeX is not nearly as clever as Xbone was.

I think Sony has it correct with the marketing.

PS
PS2
PS3
PS4 etc.

PS4 slim. PS4 pro.

It's simple and to the point and leaves no room for confusion or needless complication.

For Nintendo I think they can get away with things to some degree since Gamecube, Wii, Switch are very different things and not traditional home consoles. Wii U was a bit of marketing disaster, apparently.

Microsoft have had.

Xbox
Xbox 360
Xbox One - which then has Xbox One S and Xbox One X

Now they choose to go with "Xbox Series X".

There's no consistency or logic here and honestly I don't think it's going to work for them from a marketing perspective.
Though, I am sure they employ people to do market research and whatnot.

Playstation just seems simple and to the point.
If they launch Playstation 5 1TB and Playstation 5 3TB and that's it then they will do well.

They will do especially well if Microsoft is going to go for XBox Series X and Series something else and have too many options at launch.

I genuinely ask who Xbox is going to be for at this point? Is it PC gaming but marketed as a console?

You know Sony are going to come out with their new console and their exclusives etc and they already have this massive consumer base. Plus you know that Sony will just be looking to increase this base by enticing people over from Xbox.

You'll have a decent number of people who will just own both.

How does Xbox Series X entice people away from Sony?

So we had a console called Xbox one. Then Xbox one S, then Xbox one X, now Xbox Series X.... yeah good luck with that.
Thats worse than Wii and Wii U

Maybe it isn't the actual name. Maybe they're just telling us this is a continuation of the Xbox X series they started this gen. So we present to you the latest version in the X series. When it's proper reveal time they might call it Xbox X2. And the other series, probably S, will be called Xbox S2.

I'm hoping they have some sense left and this is it.

Could even hype it as "ten times more powerful".
Also was just thinking if called "XBox Ten" or "XBox 10", they could advertise it as "The perfect Ten", spinning a pun off of review scores. :D

It matters to him, just as the name does not matter to you, different opinions and thoughts.....

From my personal point of view, the name "xbox" was never suitable for further development. Microsoft is trying to be more creative in this respect than Sony, but ultimately there is nothing to indicate
and clearly highlight a next generation product.

It's all to do with marketing, consoles are becoming more like phones on there release schedule.
It's very clear that the XsX is there next gen console. Plus it utterly boggles my mind that 99% of people have a smartphone and are just a Google search away from knowing what the XsX is.

I don't see what the issue is. Sounds better than Xbox 360 or Xbox One if you ask me.
