Xbox wants to define "the future for where the Xbox ecosystem's going" in 2026, has "a lot of exciting things to share"

Or is it just one of Adam's balls in my throat?

Xbox apparently has "a lot of exciting things" up its sleeve for the 25th anniversary of its original console next year, and will be both celebrating "the great legacy" of the past and "defining the future for where the Xbox ecosystem's going."

That's according to Jason Ronald, vice president of next generation at Xbox, who spoke to BBC News in a recent interview (below) following the release of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld. During the conversation, Ronald makes reference to the classic Xbox titles available to play via Xbox Game Pass, saying that the company feels a "responsibility" to preserve them.

"Great games are timeless," he begins. "And I think we not only feel a need, but also a responsibility to preserve the games from the past and enable them to be played in entirely new ways."

Asked if there are any plans to bring any more OG Xbox games to Game Pass going forward, Ronald says he "can't announce anything today," but teases some big things to come in the next year.

"In 2026, it's the 25th anniversary of Xbox, and we want to celebrate the great legacy and the history that we have with Xbox as well as defining the future for where the Xbox ecosystem's going," he continues. "So, I can't confirm or deny what you're asking, but stay tuned. We have a lot of exciting things to share next year."

Mysterious stuff. Xbox leads have been talking a fair bit about the future of the company and its hardware lately – Xbox president Sarah Bond teased back in October that "the next-gen console is gonna be a very premium, very high-end, curated experience. You're starting to see some of the thinking that we have in [the Xbox ROG Ally handheld], but I don't want to give it all away."

Whether Ronald could be referring to potential hardware reveals is another matter, though, especially since he was being asked about future Game Pass additions. "Defining the future" of the ecosystem and lots of "exciting things" certainly sound promising, though, so we'll have to wait and see what the company has up its sleeve.

This always looked like a hostage video.

They had to truck this poor guy out who wanted to just be a nerd behind the scenes to damage control the Cerny tub magic.
As I mentioned before this is the same joker that laughed out loud (along with others) during the PS5 reveal with Cerny saying (along with others) they were way behind the Series X power wise and spent way too much money on the SSD solution

Plus those guys later, before the PS5 officially launched, said something along the lines they see why Sony was releasing a PS5 Pro, they needed it to just catch up with the Series X as they knew Sony was launching a Pro before the PS5 ever hit the streets

If they insist someone playing in their Playstation COD is part of Xbox ecosystem, and that playing Windows games in a Windows machine with a Xbox label is Xbox, then the only place that awaits Xbox as a distinct thing is the grave.

Trying to keep the brand alive with "wait for next year" and nothing else is extremely hopeful. My local stores seem to have completely stopped stocking Xbox consoles before black Friday and Christmas where you would expect the most sales, but next year will be so exciting!

There was a similar thread to this. I am sure they will announce Xbox hybrid. They officially confirmed XS consoles a year before launch in Game awards so next year seems about right to announce Xbox hybrid and their future plans even though it will release in 2027.

Microsoft destroyed the XBox Brand and fucked their loyal XBox Fanbase by giving away all their exclusive Video Games to everyone like Sony and Nintendo.

There is no need for a next XBox and there is already no demand for an XBox Console which is proved by actual sales Data.

Microsoft shot themselves in the Foot :D
