Holy shit. $80 Canadian. Most expensive regular edition game on steam, from what I've seen.

How much is it for US customers?

60$ US games are now 80$ Canadian, which is depressing, despite the fact that's the exchange rate now, more or less. The 10% markup on most of Steam's CDN prices seems so quaint in comparison.

Considering Aussie dollars are 1:1 with Canadians, the situation is also dire in our arse end of the world.

Precisely why I never buy games locally these days.

So uh... Why is this happening? Why aren't Steam prices in AUD yet? Pubs are having a fucking laugh if they think this is reasonable pricing.

You entitled gamers don't realize that it costs these companies a lot of money to inverse the binary bits in order for these complex games to be playable on your upside-down, counter-clockwise computers.

Yeah it sucks. These days I avoid buying off Steam now, because at least paying with CDN dollars means I don't get destroyed paying conversion fees on my CC. Hell, the 30-50% discount coupons on GMG just barely cover going from CAD to USD, and you're just left with a crappy discount.

I can imagine just how ridiculous Aussies are getting it if you want to buy something in USD, especially with the way pubs are pricing things over there.

and I'm guessing the chances of a GOG release are low for non-mrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrican buyers?

All of Firaxis' newer games have been Steam exlusive and XCOM 2 is going to be championing mod support, probably through Steam Workshop. So I'd say the chance of a non-Steam version is about 0 right now.

You've got to count the cost of the shipping of the keys. All the planes, boats and trucks filled with digital keys. Remember, you are buying a US game, importing all those digital copies is expensive.

Still pissed over that price. Pah!
I don't like this change. You don't know exactly what you'll see from a position until you move there.. Yes LOS is wonky in XCOM but fixing LOS bugs would have been more preferrable to this pseudo-cheating IMO.

It's for the best because LOS doesn't always work the way you might think. For example, an angular wall or second-level obstruction can interact with your target differently than you'd think. It's no more cheating than having the cover shown where you move, or the percentages + breakdown shown for hit chance. It's a critical part of strategic info that's good to have.

And I'm saying they should have fixed the way LOS works rather than offer a pseudo-cheat as a solution around an obvious problem..

Also, the regional pricing of this game is totally bonkers, the regional price where I live equates to around 72 USD. What in the fuck is this, I'll never buy it at this price however much I may want it. Firaxis is shooting themselves in the foot with

Complete Edition at next year's Christmas Steam Sale it is then.

With the levels being procedurally generated, making LOS clearer is the best solution. Even if their are no obvious LOS bugs, there's always a chance that LOS works differently than the user thinks, which just makes XCOM (even more) frustrating.

Those chrysallids won't spot themselves, after all. I bet Firaxis has something even more diabolical now... psychic chrysallids? Jumping chrysallids? Mechachrysallids? Whatever it is, it will be fearsome.

I would assume that it only works for enemies that you already see.

I can't imagine it would highlight enemies you can't already see.

This is purely a quality of life fix for a frequent annoyance in their first game.

By the way, has it been mentioned that the Steam page for XCOM 2 has a "Resistance Warrior Pack" if you pre-order?

:S

Customize your squad of resistance fighters with bonus outfits, headgear, and custom facial war paint. Instantly unlock a survivor of the old war as a recruit in your barracks.
I'm guessing Van Doorn.

I really hope that XCOM 2 avoids having a tide of bad DLC.

Firaxis has been pretty good about this. Bad DLC would be very, very surprising. Moreso considering PC exclusive.

(Don't take that the wrong way - the precedent here are other PC-exclusives they've put out recently - Civ5 and Beyond Earth. The latter may be questionable overall, but it still didn't have a bunch of worthless clottage served as paid condiments)

I have a hard time seeing how that wouldn't cut it.

Disclaimer: don't hunt me down if somehow false

Stupid question, I'm building a PC... a GTX 960 should be able to handle this no problem right? At 1080p.

Definitely. Maybe not maxed out with some overkill AA and effects, by definitely shouldn't be a problem - even though there are no specs to go from yet

Should be totally fine. EU ran like a dream on a 560 Ti 448 Core (a cut down 570), so the 960, which is better than the 570, shouldn't have any problems.
