Does anyone know of a good guide online or a good video tutorial on combat? I actually have the game guide but even after reading that I still don't understand combat. What I don't get is:
- How do I avoid enemy attacks? Half the time I get large chunks of health knocked off and the enemy isn't even looking at me, I can't even tell why I'm losing health.
- Soul voices, I can't hear what they are yelling over the battle music and I see no on screen indications telling me which type of attack I should use based on what they are calling out. Am I just missing it or not looking in the right spot?
- The "B" prompt, is there a way to know when that may be about to pop up on the screen? By the midway point of most battles I am in a cold sweat and barely notice it before it's gone, haha.
- Any other pointers to just do better?
- The important part is when the attack was initiated; the enemy could have turn around or even be far off when the attack actually hits.
It's a bit strange at first (already was that way in the first Xenoblade), but you get used to it. Especially since it also applies to your attack on ennemies.
- Your art of the correct type will flash. If nothing flashes, you can't do the soul voice, be it because you don't have an art of that type, or that the chance for soul voice is over.
- No idea, happens to me a lot.
- The way I do it (which isn't necessarily the good way), is to actually not look at the enemy that much, but rather at my arts bar (for soul voices) and my relative position to the enemy (as I have a lot of passives and arts with backstab bonuses).
Try to keep a variety of different art types, so you can answer soul voices. Don't use your arts as soon as they recharge, but keep at least one of each type charged for when a soul challenge appears.
Similarly, wait for their second tier charge before using your most powerfull arts.
