Did anything leak yet of how good/bad the gamestop artbook is?
Someone on IGN posted pics. It's only a few pages and flimsy, don't get excited.

Its not hardback. I know that. I'm sure its under 20 pages.
BEST RPG OF ALL TIME.
Darn. Even though I knew better I still held the tiniest inkling of hope that it would be "The Secret File".Photos here
Does anyone know if the copies of that book that were given to the first 1,000 people to register Xenoblade in France were translated? Or were they just the untouched Japanese version? (if it was translated that's really unfair )
.BEST GAME OF ALL TIME.
I kind of wish you could do more to control how the AI responds to situations, but you do have at least a little control by choosing what's on their art pallet. Plus Chain Attacks and communicating after visions.
I disagree about changing party members mid-battle. They'd have to completely redo the battle system to make that work, as-is it would just break the game. But I guess it wouldn't be much worse than Chain Attacks already are, especially for late/post-game stuff.
Uh... You would control the other team members in the same way as FFXII and Dragon Age... by setting up AI sequences. Barring that (or in addition to that), it would also be nice to just have a way to quickly flip to another character so you can use a specific ability whenever you need it.
And how do you not understand the comparison to Dragon Age? They're pretty fairly similar... Both are MMO inspired RPGs where you control one character. The PC version of DA was fairly different, but the console versions were really the same idea, except with way more depth. You could control the AI of your party, and I felt like the ability system had a bit more depth to it.
but then again I had way more fun with FFXIII and XIII-2 than Xenoblade, actually, so I guess I'm probably just the odd man out.
best video game soundtrack of all time.
Monolith already did quite a bit in their design. Just think "It's a wii game" and the few things it gets wrong doesn't feel so bad in comparison to everything else it gets right.
You are, those games (at least FF13, didn't touch ff13-2) are fucking terrible.
Still on the fence about getting it...
NEED MONEY
Has anyone run this on the Dolphin Emulator? If so, i'd be quite interested in your experience.
Everything you said about ff13 is the exact opposite.
The only redeeming character in ff13 is Sahz, because he feels the most human. Everyone else was fucking one dimensional overdramatic shit that comes almost straight out of a k-drama.
If you don't get Riki that's your whole problem right there. Riki is the Heropon, and I don't just say that because I like him, but the whole thing with his race isthey fucking troll everyone into thinking they're retarded and cutesy. If you read all the text and what's said in between the lines, you will see this. If you beat the game, you will see this. They're actually easily the smartest people on Bionis, they're all scientists (most of them).
The battle system isn't really faster paced, though I can see how it feels like it is seeing how battles are pretty short in comparison and you're always having to switch between paradigms. But that's the only "strategy" in the game, is selecting AI subroutines and watching the action happen with no real interaction on the part of the user, UNLIKE Xenoblade. So no, it's not strategic watching animations from picking pre-determined ai priority lists, it's fucking boring. Imagine never playing the game, just setting up AI lists in dragon age, and watching the game play itself. That's FF13. Whoop de fucking do.
The story owns.
100+ hours and I would play it again.
Much like Deus Ex, mentioning it makes me want to replay it.
The soundtrack hit parts of me that hadn't been hit since the days of Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger and FF6.
Thats a hell of an endorsement!
Alright you fucks. I'm doing it. I'm buying my first jRPG in years. YEARS.
I usually hate jRPGs. HATE them. The ridiculous characters, the cheesy, overused boy-turned-savior-of-world story, the cliched muahaha-i'm-so-evil bad guy, the monotonous level grinding to waste as much of my time as possible, I can't STAND that shit.
But EVERYONE is gushing about this game. The hype is just crazy. Critics, friends, and GAF all in agreement. I've never really seen anything like it since... since... hmm. Y'know, other than Katamari Damacy, and Resident Evil 4, have I seen a game get so much universal praise.
So here I go, lifting my ban on jRPGs for this title. I'm... sort of excited.

Yep.
That's a bit too much, but it may very well have the best video game soundtrack of all time.
DAMN. Those are some nice images. Is there any problems with it running do you know?
You can't go wrong with this game. Words of warning: you have to reign in your "must collect everything, must have 100% completion", because the collectathon will drive people insane due to ridiculously punishing and random drop rate. One must realize collection quests here are entirely optional and you really don't need to complete every quest and collect ever object for best ending or something like that.
FUCK YEAH! CONCERNS ALLAYED! CRISIS AVERTED!
EBGames Canada, you are good people.

"#XenobladeChronicles will be available in-store on April 5 - 2PM EST! @OpRainfall"
Thank you for your Xenoblade order! We wanted to let you know that we
have received your pre-order. We expect to begin shipping by the end
of April, 2012.
My favorite soundtrack this gen has been Nier. This will need to be something truly special to top that. I look forward to finding out.
:'( didn't realize shipment was going to be delayed by ordering from Nintendo
"A Friendly Sentiment" on the soundtrack was a pleasant surprise.
that would mean it's better than Chrono Trigger, which is bar none my favorite game of all time -- so are you saying that my new favorite game of all time comes out in a week?
Mechanical Rhythm son :7I disagree. It's a very good track but I think "Field of the Machinae" is better.
