Xenon Controller revealed? (Apparently leaked pics inside)

looks fake. I believe the xbox controllers will be black once again.

Well, I'm pretty sure they're photos. So unless someone went to the trouble of making their own controller to match the little that was shown of the xenon controller on ourcolony..

If this is it, I'd be reasonably happy with it, or at least the front of it. It seems to be a move away from the Xbox controller in terms of greater simplification, which IMO is a good thing. Not sure about the triggers though, and the placement of the orange button seems odd..a little to close to the edge of the front of the controller I think.

real, the colony pictures were also white. seems pretty faithfull to the old design as well. Hope it'll feel a less bit bulky.

edit: Seems someone @ microsoft liked the wavebird as well. :)

Somehow it allways seem to be the people with crappy camera's who get the pictures first tho. My phone makes better pictures then that.

White seems like a fairly good colour choice for their next-gen console considering the popularity of the iPod these days.....

I'm honestly not sure why he didn't just put the direct camera shots up. They look better quality, but these are photos of screens with photos on them :lol

Oh, and I hope now that MS was planning to reveal more through ourcolony.net than the controller, assuming this is the final deal.

Oooohhhhhhhh another ugly controller from microsoft? :-/

Controllers were never really known for their beauty Ronok. As long as it's functional i don't really care what it looks like. It also looks way better then the old Xbox controllers. At least there isn't a huge Xbox logo in a plastic window on it anymore.

Well I guess It's a prototype pic afterall.

it looks the same but with two less buttons....

Yeah, as rumoured, the black and white buttons are gone (thankfully, imo).
Check out this picture again and look directly behind the analog triggers. The black and white buttons still exist technically but are in a far better location.

This thing looks too professionally made to be a fake and it's definitely not a render. Positive it's an early (?) prototype since it matches all the most recent news about the controller.

I believe two Dual Shock-style triggers have been added to the top, in front of the old DC/Xbox-style triggers -- it's pretty clear on the pic from the back. That'd match rumours placing two more buttons there.

Ah, well spotted. Shoulder buttons. That is better than having two other buttons on the face. A little dual-shocky ;)

Also, I wonder if they'll be wireless as standard. Certainly this one is.

I wasn't really using ugly in the typical sence.......... More in the way that it looks like it will feel ugly to hold............ Hmmmmm I dunno why I assumed people would understand what I was talking about when only my friends know what I'm talking about when I say that. :-/

But yeah, in comparison to some controllers it's still ugly in the conventional way as well. o.o More so than the XBOX's controller... o.o

Maybe I missed something, but it looks like there will be 2 less buttons. WTF microsoft? Didn't you see what happened with GCN version games? :|

Looks ugly, again. Well, as much as the S controller is ugly it really fits my hand, maybe this will too. God this controller is ugly :|

I'm a bit disappointed though. I would have liked to see something new on there as well. Don't get me wrong I don't want no touchscreen on my controller or anything, but I would have loved it if they somehow found a better alternative to dual analog. No need to show me the trackball controller pics either. I think those haven't been in controllers before with a reason.

The Pippin begs to differ!

It looks a lot like what I've been described. The color is spot on at least. Ipod white.
I really don't know if it's the final design, but it should be close to this.
Notice the RF unit on the under side.

Some added commentary from the thread linked to above that made enough sense for me to repost here: apparently the white circle in the middle of the controller is a button that turns the controller on and off. The ring around it lights up in green when it's on...it being Xbox360 and all. Would be totally in line with those earlier rumours about the Xenon design, which may well be worth revisiting now. Seems like most rumours about Xenon turn out true! :D Or X360, should I say. Gotta get used to typing that.

MS must be the WORST company at keeping secrets in the videogame industry.

This doesn't look like a final production unit but like an advanced prototype.

This is a positive surprise: the controller seems smartly designed, keeping the basic shape of controller S, doing away with the b/w-button problems by placing them to the Dual Shock L1/R1 positions but still keeping analogue triggers... and wireless! Very nice!

Regarding the white colour, I was worried when I ordered my pure white wireless PS2 controller from Lik-Sang (white Logicool/Logitech), but as long as you remember to clean it sometimes, it stays pure white instead of turning grey.

Or Microsoft has masterfully orchestrated this in order to ramp up the hype train without doing a lick of advertising. Slowly feeding the rabid fan base small morsels of information every other month creating a torrent of rumor mongering, talk, and general interest in the console that naturally expands from their limited circles to the more mainstream.

Of course that's just wild speculation to add a fun counterpoint. Whatever the case these leaks are working and people are vividly getting excited for the Xbox 360.

Showing off something as important as an almost final looking pad prototype is not what I'd call a smart thing. There are better ways to create hype than throwing away the hardware, that's too much meat for the start.

As Blimblim said, this is pretty much what've been hearing for some time. We had a chit-chat some days ago and both of our sources told us almost the exact same things. I believe this is very close to the final unit, at least in its concept.

This matches up with everything I've been hearing about the Xbox 2 controller. Colors are probably TBD but the shape and button layout's just as folks said.

I don't know man, I am not that well informed :)

If the pads are finally wireless there should be a way to charge the batteries. Or maybe that's just a port for debugging or whatever, I am just guessing. Prototypes are always a little off on some details and usually have some crude looking features that are softened near the end hardware.

Maybe it also features a USB plughole so you can use it on your PC, AND recharge the batteries, but that's me speculating from what I've heard, don't take my word seriously.

i love how my logitech controller looks.

No more A/B/X/Y buttons then? Looks like they're just colors now.

Microsoft and Sony's controllers will be the usual, Nintendo's the one to look out for in the controller department as usual.

Personally I will be annoyed if they dont put some other identification on there as im colour blind and so this will mildy piss me right off, though I can tell them apart at the minute.

meh...wake me up, when someone tries something new in controllers and why are companies so in love with the diamond button layout...is it that hard to get 6-face buttons on a controller?
