That's disappointing to hear, I loved LA 1 and 2. Basiscape on music is a huge draw too.

Long story short, it's a fairly low/moderate budget game that they did a very very very good job of disguising as a game with high production values. But what I'm really trying to say is that they spent money/effort in all the wrong places and as a consequence many other parts of the game suffer because of it.

Yep I enjoyed LA1 and 2 at the time while recognizing their shortcomings but this is half-baked in comparison. As for music there are actually some very excellent tracks in LAI but they're few in number and get recycled for so many scenes that you'll definitely be sick of them by the end.

If you specialize in the localization of niche Japanese games, it's going to be difficult to avoid games with strong fanservice components these days given what the market is. XSEED, Atlus, Aksys, NISA - they've all done it. I don't think it makes sense to criticize XSEED specifically for the situation.

I think it didn't help the text was vertical so it would've been hard to find ways to make it horizontal with the images behind it or something. Basically, from what I've heard, Tom from Xseed said the text would've had to have a major overhaul if it were to be translated into English.
