Why?

=(

Just no fun to fight an opponent that dodges 90% of your attacks, has no flinch when you land a hit and can grab you in the middle of a combo. Tedious bullshit.

Mahjong-GAF, I need your help. Why didn't I win this hand?

I believe it's because you didn't qualify for any Han, but I don't really get it either, because you get 1 Han for having a no points hand, which seems like you should always be able to go out if that is a thing. I've been in that position before myself and confused as to why.

How can you tell when you're ready to do the Carabet Club rival battles? I'm still on the first club, I've partnered with all of the businesses in that area and am Rank D. I've run the club maybe ~7-8 times and have been trying to spread out my leveling (I have all of the Bronze, Silver and most of the Gold girls) but it's kinda hard since you don't see their actual levels during the game so my hostesses are anywhere from level 5 to 15 with my one Platinum being like 24 or something. I'm on the last chapter, just more or less working on grinding this out for completion etc.

Yeah, it's really confusing.

Nope still not really working, spending almost half my time just standing up into another combo. Do I have to go back to the title to turn down difficulty? =/ Can't even remember when my last save was.

Ooof... made it thanks to counter hook. That was brutal.

Next Yakuza game should star Nishiki and take place between this and 1.

Disclaimer: I have not played 1 or beat 0 but
I do know the twist of 1 :(

Better yet, rebooted series with Kiryu and Nishiki as a buddy cop duo, watch their countless hijinks unfold throughout Tokyo!

And I loved destroying him

The most recent time I've fucked him up the finishing Heat move was with my favourite weapon. The kettle. Brtual.

A weapon I've rarely seen for use is the Syringe. I've only used it once, as Kiryu, the heat move is you jabbing it in the enemy's leg and injecting him with fuck knows what.

The mysterious liquid is fun too but I rarely see that either.

My fave storeable weapon is Sakura Storm. One triangle hit with it puts any enemy on his back. The Spicy Knife is a vicious weapon too.

Youda will tell you first to scope out the club you're going to battle, do that and then when you have enough fans (I think between 1500 to 2500?) in the area the club owner will come to personally challenge you. You can check how many fans you have from the main menu under business I believe.

Right I've done all that (scoped them out and the girl from Club Mars came to issue the challenge), but I'm not sure how to tell I'm prepared to take on the battle. The game seems to make a big deal out of it, so I'm not sure if I should have a full set of girls at X level or be at a certain Rank or whatever.

Save the game in the office at Sunshine and then give it a go. If you fail, reload. You'll probably do fine but the Cabaret game takes a little while to get your head around but it's a lot of fun when you do.

Oh the game doesn't tell you if you're prepared or not but it's not much of a big deal if you lose a battle, you just lose all your profits for the day and the rival club owner comes to gloat directly at your face.

I think if you have your platinum hostess at 24 and a couple backing her up at level 15 you have more than enough to topple Club Mars.

I think out of all the bad guys, Kuze is my favorite. Not just because
You fight him multiple times
, but the dude has hella style. The others just have very punchable faces. Plus, that theme...THAT THEME!

Add me to the Kuze fan club. He's just a well done baddie, even in a series that has no shortage of them, he's still among my favourites that you go toe to toe with. Probably go as far as saying he's my favourite boss character in 0.

Your picture doesn't load for me.

In the meantime, some guesses:

-You're in furiten and can only win from your own draws
-Your hand is open or otherwise exceptionally worthless
Can you see it now?

I think it's because you have the pon with 9 bamboos that breaks your no points open handIf you had anither chi instead you would have won xD.I think you can't have a no point hand with a pon
Ahh, I really don't get this pon and chi stuff. I guess I should just stick to concealed hands.

Ahh, I really don't get this pon and chi stuff. I guess I should just stick to concealed hands.

I basically only go open with a hand if I get a chance to kan, or if I can pon a dragon or wind. Sometimes rarely if the round is going long enough that it might draw, because it seems to get me some tie breaker points to have a meld or two in front of me.

Mahjong is one of my favorite games to play that I have the least understanding of rules minutiae of. Kinda like Magic the Gathering, where I'll say something like this to my opponent: "I'm pretty sure it's possible to do this, but don't know how to make it work legally, what should I do?"

Danny Dudekisser

I paid good money for this Dynex!
Man, even rewatching it, the cutscene
right before the credits, where Majima walks away
fucken kills me.

When did this series get so good?

Yeah I see it. That's a 0 han hand. If you're only using the three suits, your hand isn't automatically worth 1 han if it's open.

An open hand of only Pin, Sou and Wan tiles needs to fulfill one of the following conditions to be worth 1 han:

-No 1s or 9s
-A 1 or a 9 in each set including the pair
-three color straight (a 2-3-4 chi of Pins, Sou and Wan each, for instance)
-full straight (1-2-3, 4-5-6 and 7-8-9 chis of one suit)
-one suit only

I'm probably forgetting some.

Not only does he have a a hella awesome theme but the lead up to his That freeze frame is HYPE!

yeah man i wrote earlier that i felt for him at the end. he was awesome.

This. All of this!

Beat it. Loved it.
Great story there were so many times where I yelled "Oh shit!" at it. The contrast between how serious the main story is and the side quests can be a bit jarring at first, but both are incredibly strong in their own ways. I will now pick up any Yakuza games from now on. (I hope they remake 2 so I don't have to dig out a ps2 to play the whole series).

The early combat is very basic. Once you start filling out the sphere grid and unlock beast style in chapter 2, it'll open up. Beast is what you want if you wanna smash people with bikes.
Good to know! I'm mostly worried that when the game opens the combat up I won't be prepared lol

Yeah, I should probably do the same and only go for stealing if I can get a kan.

Thanks for the explanation. Man, Mahjong sounds a lot more complicated than I initially thought.

Yeah, Kuze is great.
Gotta give some respect for Awano as well though, That dude is the best "love to hate" villain in the series yet. Seriously, what a dick.
Agreed, also I straight hate Sagawa. Dude is the epitome of "want to punch in the face". Majima had some serious resolve/patience.

The substory with the guy in the jacket trying to cross the bridge is pissing me off so bad. Like, seriously, this shit is ridiculous.

On normal it was pretty easy if I stuck close to him. Leave characters with a health bar alone and they will get worked is my experience so far lol.

Unless I'm remembering this substory wrong. You escort him along the bridge right?

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
It got me a good few times. Slugger Mode and pray is all I can tell you.

Yeah, took a bit, but I did it. The combo ender where Majima swings the bat around like nunchaku worked really well. It has a surprisingly wide range and you can turn while doing it, so it keeps the guys away from jacket dude pretty well.

So my copy was finally delivered today. I got all the way to the boss fight at the end of Chapter 1 without saving once. I know this because I now have to do it all over again... damn.

I'm lowering the difficulty to normal and breaking faces as revenge. Other than the save system, I'm really feeling the game.

Beat it first try with slugger, nunchuck swings and the wide swing are good for beating multiple people.

Actually the nunchuck swings are good against pretty much anyone who blocks or sways a ton, once you push them into a corner.

Seek victory, not fairness
I just want to say that Majima might be one of my favorite protagonists ever.

I see Yakuza fans rave about how great he is all the time but he never did much for me in the games I played (4 and 5). Now, though, I understand. The localization spiced up his dialogue a bit but it fits him SO well. Not to mention all three of his styles are amazingly fun to play with.

The way you end up learning his breakdancing style is hilarious.

Yup, really enjoyable character. I was rooting for him as the real main character by the end.

Hard to Kill
Fuck!!!You guys are hypiing me so much about this game.

It'll be my first yakuza game and I can't wait to play it but sadly I have to wait until I get a bit more money and Horizon will come out soon it'll be a tough choice but this yakuza will be mine.

This thread is putting the needle of envy in my brain a bit deeper each post and I need to be freed from this torture.

I hope march will bring me enough money otherwise I'll ^robably end up selling one of my kidney that'll be way faster.

Probably come up already, but is there some trick to getting a strike on the bowling mini game? I've been trying to do this "Turkey" event shit for the past week now, but the best I've managed is 2 strikes in a row one time.

Nearly every other mini game has been easy enough to master, but I'm not getting this one at all.
