god damn do I suck at the disco mini game. More than any other one. Trying to get the girl you can get from doing a bunch of them will be tough.

I suck so hard at rhythm games in general that i don't even do karaoke that often, disco requires even more steps. I can hold that L and not get 100% in everything as long as i can gather enough CP for unlocking
the lock on the forth style
. Once i have a quiet moment in my life i will learn how to play all of the gambling mini games and majhong and also shogi. All these things i always sucked at, i guess Yakuza will push me to improving my own skills.

I had to do that whole first section of fighting + boss with no healing items >_>

Took like an hour.

yeesh, that sounds miserable, man.

if you weren't playing on legendary then why not just switch down the difficulties? it doesn't make a different as i found out earlier in this thread

so no Legend mode players?
I'm holding off on a Legendary mode playthrough until after Mass Effect Andromeda and before Injustice 2. Game's long enough as it is lol :D

Gonna try to get every trophy right now except for the few story related ones I missed with this playthrough and come back to it later for the Legendary playthrough.

so there's no trophies for legend mode? i better check myself/
i turned off trophy notification long ago as it spoiled the mood of some games in the past. but i guess i need to turn it on again eventually =)

There is a gold trophy for completing the game on Legendary. So it's necessary for the platinum.

Still kinda sucks that I can't just play NG+ with Legendary difficulty :(

yeah i was disappointed when you shared that before. i guess i might take a break too and just go and finish some side stories.

This game is amazing, I am losing track of time trying to take down the Five Billionaires. Got Leisure, working on Electronics and then Pleasure and Gambling.

somebody please tell me why is it so funny in the cabaret missions how much crap they give poor Yuki.

All of the 'she's plain' jokes and jokes about only protecting the important girls lmao.

Poor girl. Finished her subplot and I can't tell
if she's into Majima or sees him as a very dear mentor

John and Sam from Atlus, if you guys are reading this I was wondering if you could answer a little question for me. Can you guys make tweaks and little changes to the actual game or are you limited to translation stuff? Cause if you can then I think it would be really cool if you could do the following (rather small) changes in the future updates.

1) An in-game warning for equipping Charismatic Autobiography. We've seen so many times in this very thread that people don't know what it does and why the difficulty has been spiked, so it would be nice to have an in-game warning when you try to equip it.

2) Make Catfights easier. It's completely luck based and the AI straight-up cheats. I don't know anything about game design, but can't guys change a few numbers and make it easier to win, or I don't know, give more HP and ATK points to players to make it easier? It's probably not as easy as changing some numbers though, hahaha.

3) Ogita is way too hard. It's the same as Catfighting as it really feels like AI is either super strong or just straight up cheats. Sometimes it really feels like you are competing against a computer. Can you make that a tad bit easier as well?

That's pretty much it. I know the game is 2 years old, but it would be great if you guys could actually change some of the things that I listed.

With the Catfighting....I'm not sure if I'm just getting lucky or if this trick actually works.

For example, I will have scissors selected thinking that will queue the AI into a higher percentage to draw rock. I wait for the countdown 3..2..1...then as soon as FIGHT pops up I will quickly switch over to paper. I have been winning most of the matches doing that.

As for the book item. There is really no need to change it. I fell for it as well. The description was there to hint the player. I just wasn't paying attention to it.

Finally get to play this tomorrow night - anyone got any advice for a first timer? Is there anything I should particularly do or avoid, or should I just get stuck in without looking anything up?

They don't need to change the description for the item. Just add a little warning that states what it does when you try to equip it. Unfortunately many people won't pay attention to the description and some might think that this is an actual difficulty spike done by the main story.

Just roll with it. The world doesn't really open up until everything is set in place by the start of Chapter 2, it's mostly linear and teaching you some mechanics throughout Chapter 1, so there's not much you can learn even if you did look things up to start it off.

Oh, except saving. Keep in mind the game doesn't autosave, you have to save at phone booths.

Save at pay phones, since the game doesn't have auto-save. Also, don't equip Charismatic Autobiography.

Well, I just got the Hostess that's the only cameo I really recognize.
Doing the conversation training and stuff with somebody you've seen in porn feels... kinda awkward...

Great ending. They tied up the storylines really well, and gave all the major characters a proper goodbye. This is how you end a game BioWare. Would be fun to hear from people who have played the other games how 0 ranks against them?

the fucking creepy girl from the Ring! And this fella got extremely excited after watching it haha

It's just a gamblimg game. Bet yor fav girl when she is in a good mood and chooese her best option or choose the counter option against the opponent's best option. Sometimes you win sometimes you lose just like dice.

I've only played Y0, Y4 and Y5, but I'd say this was up there in overall polish. I think as a single chapter I preferred Akiyama's from Y4. In fact I'd put Y0 on equal footing to Y4 if we're just talking story. For the overall package, I'd say Y0 is a bit better. Y5 is a tad below both, it has some pacing issues but a lot of fun to be had and as far as story goes, it has memorable scenes and a nice change of pace with one of the chapters midway through.

Also, substories are great in the others but Y0's takes it up a notch. They're consistently funny and/or touching.

My wages were messed up this month thanks to being on the sick for a few weeks... but I'm due back money owed to me in a few days. I've been looking at Yakuza online and even Amazon is saying up to an 11 day wait for stock to come back in... They're the only place with a price under £40 that I'm willing to pay, everywhere else seems to be £45..

This game must have absolutely sold out of every copy, which can only be a good sign, I just hope Sega are getting on this and making sure sales aren't lost as a result!

I did try to do that a few times. Didn't work. AI still picks the dominant option over what I have picked.

Have you been paying attention to the AI's tendencies, though? I don't know if I just got lucky but for me, I looked at what the girl's best two types were (such as if they had three stars in Rock, four stars in Scissors, and one star in Paper). The AI tends to pick the higher starred ones and most of the time never picks the third lowest/weakest option they have. In that situation I found at most I only ever needed to think about two match-ups: drawing with them or getting lucky and they pick the one that results in me winning. 'Course if they're the "better" girls this becomes a bigger prediction game and thinking ahead about what they might pick.

By the end, I came out on top three times. Once at only a 15 million yen bet. The second time at like a 50 mil bet. And then the third at a 30 mil bet on one of the least likely to win girls. At the end, I had close to 700 million yen for Kiryu.

I haven't been able to go back to it because I'm Majima now but I really felt like, by the end of that, the AI has a pretty solid pattern with some RNG for sure. But I don't think it needs tweaking or that it's consistently unwinnable enough to require adjustments. But I mean if it did get changed, I wouldn't complain obviously lol.

I really wish I had more time to play.

I've had 4 play sessions with it so far and I'm still with Kiryu. I adore the game, it really feels like a new and grittier/goofier Shenmue. It reminds me of what it felt like as a kid with my dreamcast.

Not when you are trying to get those completion points...

I did that a couple of times but AI still picked the dominant option. Idk, maybe I was just extremely unlucky? I tried 4-5 matches before saying "screw it". It just felt that no matter what I did, AI would get the better option.

while i like the hostess club minigame, it sucks that i get so little money out of it. with the real estate, is was earning hundreds of millions in minutes without doing much. here, i have to invest time and get 20-50 million (so far, targeting club mercury now).

does it get better?

I'm targeting Moon and I get 80M, not done woth it yet though, still have to beat the challenge. At 1B for every club takeover, that's a fair bit of money there, even if you have to spend a small part of it to partner wjth businesses and get started on the next club quicker. I'll say Kiryu can earn money faster, but the minigame is not as fun. You can also transfer funds between characters, and Majima's skill trees cost less overall.

Beat my first run through the other day. Without giving anything away...MAN WHAT A GAME.

While this is my first yakuza, its fair to say that my most anticipated game this year may be Yakuza Kiwami.

I feel so bad I haven't given this series the attention it deserved until now.

Money wise? No,

I completed it and never went back to it. Not because i didn't like it but because Mr. Shakedown is basically a walking atm and the best way to rake in cash for both kiryu and majima.

The dilemma of wanting to continue the main story yet also wanting to continue the adventures of Kiryu's real estate business, more money means more fighting prowess!

Tips for best way to beat Mr shakedown as kyriu?

With majima I have it down to a tee.

Brawler to build up heat, then baseball bat for special heat attack then as he's on the ground I press triangle on him to build up heat and hurt him, then do a ground heat kick.

I don't know how am I gonna handle this and Nioh starting next week with the limited playtime I have nowadays. I really, really want to see everything Yakuza 0 has to offer, it's been ages since I was so eager to do so in a game, but that would involve playing exclusively this for the coming months lol

This game is so good it becomes a problem!
