Oh sure absolutely, he could live in the arse end of nowhere for all I know. Just thinking more of that was the case sure you could take your PS3 to somewhere with a better speed. Done that myself a few times when needed :)

Yea, it would be nice if 1&2 HD would be brought over, though I image it MIGHT because they would have to re-localize them (fees/testing/etc) and originally they didn't sell all too well. Other than that I think the first game would need to rewritten a bit since it was altered to the English dub.

Which is a shame because I think the first 2 games had the best stories of the franchise.

If Sony themselves can market 5 (and maybe Zero) properly outside of Japan and find success, maybe we'll get this. I'm hoping to continue getting the main cannon games at least.

They could (and have previously), but again, the cost to have them voice these games (even if they aren't Hollywood actors like the first one) and properly match it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Unless you live in a country where internet is scarce or some terrible Internet data cap, I doubt it. You can still download it but it will just take a LONG TIME otherwise. This comes from someone who had only 3 Mbps download for several years until probably November of last year.

Seeing as how they didn't localize the last Yakuza remaster, I wouldn't get my hopes up of the next one being released in the west if they make it.

That's your own fault if you don't wanna get it digital for any reason. It could very well possibly be that this is the only way sega will release it outside Japan.

I don't think a physical version would sell enough to recoup the costs involved in manufacturing such as printing inserts, pressing discs, distribution, paying retail chains for shelf space, etc

Even a limited release like Gaijinworks did with Class of Heroes 2 on PS3 doesn't seem likely, nor I don't think such a campaige would get enough demand to make it worthwhile even though I would immediately jump at such an opportunity.

Hardly anyone bought the game when Sega DID release physical versions. This is the reason why the game wasn't almost localized and we are thankfully getting it at least digitally.

I'd be happy with a white label, disc-only package that I can only buy direct from SEGA. It'll take me about 20 hours to download Yakuza 5 on my DSL connection, and I don't even have 20GB left on my PS3 HD.

Speaking of, how involved is the process of upgrading the HD in the PS3? My OG PS3 still has the original 60GB drive in it.

It's not complicated at all.

In fact Sony officially supports it and it won't void your warranty. Sony even has guides to do it on the official website.

But the gist of it, for a fresh console it's as simple as removing the old drive and putting the new one in.

For a console that has already content on it and is on a firmware newer than default. You will need an external storage such as a USB Flash Drive or USB HDD that is larger than the actual drive you want to back up. As well as the firmware downloaded and stored on USB flash drive. Going in to the PS3 System Options you can back up everything to the external drive, and use the same back up drive to restore it after you swap the HDD. That way you get the expanded storage and keep your stuff.

Thanks. It does sound straightforward. Kind of hate to dump more money into the PS3 at this point, but seems the only way to play Y5.

I'm really fond of the Boss Coffee ones. The Boss Coffee product placement is one of my favorite things about Yakuza. Either one of those or maybe something with a Don Quijote reference.
