Enjoyed those impressions!
Now I'm just anxious to see if Yakuza 3 makes you cry.Because it made me cry.
Just wanted to let you know that I'm only on Chapter 2 and I've already got a bit teary eyed lol

Boy, you're not ready for the rest in the slightest haha. Enjoy.
Y3 is my third favorite in the series.
Well written and developed ? Am I the only one who thought it was (small spoiler)?cliché and even stupidly sexist at one point when suddenly she couldn't save herself from some thugs without her mighty hero
My guess is that they don't want to remind us Kazuma once had an actually well written and developedSame reason they got rid of her in the most anticlimactic way back in 3romance with someone, because hostesses and stuff.
But yeah, I agree, I can't wait to see her again. She's one of my favorite characters in the series.
Speaking of Kazuma and Yumi, HOLY SHIT Kiryu loses a lot in this game. He loses his mentor, his close friends, his role as a Yakuza, his best friend and the love of his life in this game. Kiryu's got it fucking rough in this game, man
I think that's all I've got for now, but if there's anything more I might add it later. All in all, I'll probably give Kiwami a 9/10. It was a great game, but 0 is a better product imo. I'm literally about to start Yakuza 3 now, so when I finish that I'll post my thoughts on it here as well. Thanks for reading!
I just heard that Majima will be playable in Kiwami 2 (or is it 2 Kiwami?). I'm clearly living under a rock, so could someone link me something to bring me up to speed?
Majima being playable is a pretty unexpected choice. He sort of has a backseat role in 2 IIRC, jumping in at unexpected parts, but I guess that just means you have more things to play with. There's at least one instance I can remember in that game where he goes through hell.

I mean I'd take this reasoning but he can still go out with hostesses in Yakuza 1 anyway... I'd get it they just wanted to make him a playboy but he wasn't even that.
This decision making will always baffle me and be one of my biggest gripe with the writing. Justget her to write and email to him or something. Was it that hard to keep her around even in the background

Jeeesus Christ Yakuza 6 looks and feels goddamn amazing. I shouldn't have downloaded this demo oh nooooo
I've heard that most people don't like the beginning of Yakuza 3 because it is slow, but I am way into ex-Yakuza dad simulator.

It's like 0.Is Kiwami fully voiced or is it like 0 with non-voiced side stuff?
i got JP demo from the PSN store a while back, so yeah it's been out! warning though, you're basically grabbing the whole damn game at like 30 something gigs just for the small section you're allotted

So rather than dropping eighty bucks to get Yakuza 0 and Kiwami in one swoop during the launch hype cycle, decided to finally play Yakuza 5 since it's the only one of the western releases I don't have a firm understanding of... just that Kiryu was a taxi driver and Saejima fights a bear.
So I finished Part 1 yesterday and I just started the prison sequence in two, but seeing some of the conversations gaffers had recently makes Saejima's section out to be a slog. How much of a timesink am I looking at if I don't find this part great?
This is why, when people look at the game on the surface, it may seem like just Kamurocho and Kiryu yet again, but every game comes with lots of improvements. It's actually a very real problem that the game has marketing itself.
so glad people are checking for y3 these days, wish it was on PSN - still remember kmart giving me a free copy with my purchase of 4, haha
this, so hard - my mind is not ready for fights carrying over into shops & working vending machines in 6
Is it just me or is the combat in Kiwami atrocious? First Yakuza game I've played and the fighting aspect is painfully boring. Maybe it'll get better as I learn skills again.

Care to tell which close combat systems you enjoy?
Don't tell it's any of the Simon Says of Arkham yore.
Personally Yakuza as good as it gets for close combat besides God Hand. And yeah, the beginning moveset generally is a bit more limited. It gets a lot more fun when you get better dodges, better HEAT moves and parries.
Is there some sort of indicator showing you are locked on? I've been using R1 since the tutorial but it doesn't work for me. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Thanks for the other tips
That's not entirely true when you are facing multiple enemies, or a single fast one. R1 lets you keep your fighting stance and keep your attacks somewhat focused on the enemy, but as a lock-on it's pretty mediocre compared to other games that have a dedicated lock-on button. It should be pretty noticeable IIRC since you face towards the enemy and all moves will go in the target's direction. Sure you are holding that button down?
The RPS Arkham combat is excellent and I don't think there's anything wrong with me liking that nor does it invalidate my opinion. Bayonetta, DMC, Asura's Wrath, God of War, etc I also enjoy.
I really dislike not being able to lock on to specific enemies which makes fighting groups a chore. There's not enough variety in the moveset, you're basically getting two punch buttons, a grab, and a throw unless I'm missing something. Heat finisher isn't explained very well I basically just spam triangle whenever I'm glowing and Kiryu will sometimes do a flashy move. Enemies have way too much health which makes fighting waves or even just groups of street thugs a complete chore. Inventory menu management also leaves something to be desired (Ex. Hot Keys for item consumption).
Like I said this is my first Yakuza so maybe combat improves as you get more skills or the later games fix the issues I have. I probably would have immediately returned this to GameStop if the story weren't so compelling.
Should have tied it to the touchpad!a heal button would probably be useful and help the combat flow better.

Because when I lock-on to something, I wanna be actually locked on to it. DMC, Bayo, LoS, Souls... they all let you completely lock on to the enemy and that makes the one on one fights much better.Well, why would you want a true lock-on anyway? Now it works well against bosses and in battles with many others, why would you want to be locked in too tightly?
Was that in Australia? I vaguely recall something like that happening.
Also unrelated, but stay safe IrishNinja. Hope everything works out.
I always saw it as thatwhile he and Yumi both liked each other, they never got to be a couple, while with Kaoru it was pretty obvious that what was next was them dating, in which case him being a playboy would have looked bad, but nope. What bothered me the most is that they were dead set in kicking her out of the series, made evident by her character page in Y3 updating through the game saying she started going out with some "hot american officer".
Wait what, this is the first time I'm reading this. This is seems like some cheap way of making the player base hate her character. I guess it's been over a year since they stopped contacting each other but this feels way too forced and artificial. Not even like Kiryu got another chance at settling down either.
PS4Pro is a locked 1080p/30 with no screen tearing.Although, the fps was really noticeable, definitely under 30 a lot. Does anyone know if the PS4Pro helps keep a stable 30fps?

Base PS4 is 900p/30 with dips with occasional screan tearing. Didn't really bother me when I played the demo but not everyone will be as easy going on that matter.
Yeah he'll have a playable story in the remake, which will apparently expand on his story from 0. Here's the subtitled trailer https://youtu.be/Q-69GWips7Q

Should have tied it to the touchpad!
You set a healing item for swipe right and swipe left beforehand, and just do that motion while in-game to heal!
I mean, I'm usually not that picky about fps. But I guess I've just been spoiled by the recent PS4 60fps Yakuza titles. Plus I'd kind of like to have the definitive Yakuza 6 experience.
My ps4 has also been acting up lately, so maybe it's time to replace it. Would he nice to replay The Last Guardian in solid fps as well.
Its worth splashing out for. Having a solid version of 6 made a world of difference for me, and I can vouch that TLG runs wonderfully on the Pro as well
