Yakuza KIWAMI |OT| Translator's Note: "KIWAMI" means "EXTREME"

If that's the case then that certainly explains why I can't get it to trigger. The guide I saw didn't mention it, but I guess it makes sense considering i've done all the other substories and it hasn't popped up.
You need all skills and 77 substories. Once you are done with them, leave Haruka and then trigger a time shift. You will see the ! mark in the Theater Square. Bring a lot of health items and same fot Heat. You are gonna need them even if you think the game is easy with Tiger Drop.

Actually Seishu Hase didn't write it, he simply was hired as an story editor / consultant later. Apparently, the original script was even worse and shitty than the final one, and so he came in and fixed it as much as he could.

See Forging the Dragon documentary on Youtube made by YakuzaFan guys.

One day I'll make sure the credits are proper and complete on MobyGames for all the games.

God damn, grinding for Yen is a real chore! I miss the money-making side-stories of 0; Kiryu's real estate business (praise be thy Nugget) was a great cash cow.

Not a patch on the Mr. Shakedown exploit of course. The replacement for that, Majima, instead doling out EXP.

the abuse is almost over 1 climax battle left and then chapter 9 and the plat shall be mine. After that I pray again in false hope that future plats will be less assholerish or that I won't like a yakuza so much that it makes me stick to it until he plat..

Finally conquered that lousy game of pool. Now I have to score 950 on Otometal. My highest score so far is 920, so I think it will be much more manageable than the pool game.

What are you grinding yen for? Weapons?

I never run out of yen and by the end of the game, I have like over 2 million with nothing to use for.

Just equip the expensive perfume and search for the rich guys dressed in gold around town, they drop lots of money.

Yeah, and Staminan Royales because I fight cheap.

That's more or less what I'm doing. Was hoping for some easier farming method. But I guess with the move towards EXP in upgrading moves there's less reason for earning money.

Also try to do the colosseum, every first time you win a category you get lots of money, if you win the highest level for the first time you get 1mil yen.

I was kidding lol but it doesn't seem like I could follow that insanity in that state of mind. That might just be me though.

hahaha, fair enough. this is the first persona game i've played and i can already tell what you mean by the insanity, and i've barely gotten a taste of it

Substory 49 spoilers

HOLY SHIT THE CULT IS BACK

SHOOREH PIPPI BITCHESSSSSSSSS

OMG. I need to find this.

On that note,
I was super disappointed one of the Majima events wasn't with a cultist Majima... That sub story in 0 was so memorable that I totally expected him to show up in pajamas at some point saying munancho.

And done. 35 hours, 58% completion rate. I have like 8 or so substories left and a few Dragon of Dojima moves are missing. I do have all the Komaki moves though.

Final chapter spoilers:
Jingu, dude, that was a terrible villain speech. If you weren't dead, I'd ask you to redo the entire thing.

The final battle against Nishiki was great though. I assume the mid-battle flashbacks weren't in the original?

About chapter 9 oh my god yakuza team what the actual fuck when you fail the latter half of chapter 9 you are forced to start at the very beginning of it instead of being able to reload just the last part. I can't fucking believe it how absurd that decision is from a design standpoint. Like man I wish I could force them to patch in a checkpoint cause that is just unbelievable bullshit. Sigh.

Edit: god damn this makes me actual so mad. Just looked it up I died at the half way point so it's going to be insane tedious to get all the tries together getting good at this. Like it was already fucking retarded how you couldn't just straight up skip all the cutscene bullshit in the 0 car chase but somehow the team made the decision to make it even worse, why.... x_X

People enjoying the Zero throwbacks in Kiwami will be happy to know there's a few in 6 too.

I'm still a bit peeved they didn't retcon Akiyama into Kiwami at all.

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Holy shit.

I started laughing out loud prompting my wife to ask if i'm OK during the Majima
hostess segment.

Ok so I have hit maybe a bug or something. I am right before the point of no return and Majima has completely diasppeared. Is there any sidequests that turn it off. I believe I have maxed the first rank but I am not getting any phone calls.

True story, that section caused me to quit the game when Yakuza released in 2006. I had hoped it was better in Kiwami. Nope.

I get that you are frustrated at a particularly agrivating section of the game, (did anyone enjoy that chase section?) but please don't use slurs such as retarted when expressing this frustration.

Thats really shitty.

How do I use my equipped weapons in battle? I'm at Chapter 6 and still don't have a clue how to actually use them.
Press the style change twice on dpad.

For Majima, I was supposed to earn a skill when fighting Breaker Majima, Last Stand Reborn. I fought breaker version twice and still haven't gotten it.

fuck I just wanna play more Yakuza. It's so simple. Persona 5 is way more complicated

And yet for all its complicated systems, P5's version of Tokyo is barely there, like a rough pencil sketch. Not even sure why they bothered setting it in Tokyo when it felt like such an afterthought. Though I do wish Yakuza had a functional subway system, if only so that I could fight some punks on a moving train.

The one thing I wish Yakuza had from P5 is the chat log. Several times so far I've been half paying attention when someone says something, and there's no way to go back and check what they said.

One question: I played Yakuza 1 years ago on PS2 and I remember that it was a linear game. But here I see people are talking about quests and free roam stuff. So am I remembering incorrectly or they added open world stuff in remake?

I was just about to post about this. Most 2005 thing I've played in a long time. I don't know why they didn't just remove that section entirely.

man that sounds awesome. but subway would also be nice as shortcuts lol

I forgot Persona took place in Tokyo. You're right that the setting doesn't have much to do with the game. Quite the opposite in Yakuza

Uh, it has a section of a city that you can explore just like the other games. In this district you can do side quests, or play minigames.

Its a small district that's heavily fleshed out, akin to Deus Ex or Shenmue.

I *REALLY* like the new Reina character design. Easily leagues and bounds above any other female character in the game.

Seeing how much I like lit up Kamurocho here makes me really really want Yakuza 6 to finally see the full power of the current generation utilized.

Oh, don't get me started on Persona 5...

For one, setting the game in Tokyo and following THAT storyline, made sure to make the best part about Persona games (cultural/social/school events) an absolute chore... Ugh.

Yeah, there's some notable instances of poor design in this game. Hopefully 6 and the other upcoming games have better quality of life choices because after 0 and Kiwami, it's all starting to add up (for me).

Just managed to finish that last part of chapter 9 on EX Hard/Legend (with about 25% car/HP left). Had been attempting this numerous times over the weekend, but never got past 2/3 of it. Very frustrating, also made me dislike the whole first part of the chapter, especially the boss - who is just a major time waster anyway.

Glad that's out of the way, now for 900+ on that one karaoke song..

(fuck) MY LIFE

About the Colloseum battles with weapons...is there a point to picking anything but the brass knuckles? Seems like all the other weapons have huge disadvantages. Too slow, no Heat move, etc.

It's sad that I've missed so much of the OT. I have the game now but have limited time at the moment and want to focus on Uncharted and FFXII first.

Yaknow I am kind of glad I started with Kiwami because I've been looking at the features and gameplay of Yakuza 0 and I feel that if I were to have played that first and went to Kiwami I would miss a lot of the stuff that is in that game but not in this one.

Like, usable vending machines, and the money system, and the friendship system, and much, much more interesting substories. I don't know why they weren't added to Kiwami because as far as I understand it Kiwami released after 0. They could have added these features and still told the story of the first Yakuza game, and they already had the systems in place and it runs on the same engine. So it's kind of weird.

I picked the bat and just mashed square the whole time and won every single match every time I picked either weapon based tournament. I only had to occasionally give the control stick a slight tap if Kiryu got turned around, but other than that it's a joke.

In the span of like half an hour, I ran into Majima like 4-5 times in differing scenarios and situations completely out of the blue (e.g.
when shopping or drinking at a bar
) - it has me rolling, it's implemented surprisingly well.

Well the car shit was in the original back in 2005. And they decided to keep it because... they're fucking idiots?

I have a question about the Majima everywhere system, assistance please.

As soon as I was able to in Chapter 4, I did as many side quests as I could find and as many Majima encounters as I could. After I reached rank C (i think) the guy emailed me and said the boss is out of town for a while.

I saw Majima smoking at the entrance of the old park but he hasn't shown up since then. Am I supposed to continue the story ? The message said continue story or advance some sub missions.

Another question:

Is there any pocket racer guide or if anyone can tell me the build/parts needed to beat the
old pocket racer fighter guy
?
