Yooka-Laylee - Gamescom 2016 Trailer

Trailer

A new screen was also posted on Kickstarter:

Along with an update:

This week we’ve dispatched our most frankfurter-resistant team members to the Gamescom expo in Germany. As well as teasing some of the new enemies, moves and mechanics you can see in our latest video, we offered Cologne-dwelling press the opportunity to play Yooka-Laylee for the first time.

Media were invited to sample a version of the game’s first world, Tribalstack Tropics, slightly edited for spoiler content and overly-lethal puns, and you’ll begin seeing hands-on reports on your favourite outlets from today. Very soon we’ll reveal our plans for how we’ll be making similar invitations to the wider world. Stay tuned.

Of course many of you will have already been sampling our game mechanics via the Kickstarter backer-exclusive Toybox, the response to which has been nothing less than fantastic. The Playtonic team wants to thank everyone who’s played the Toybox so far for all of your valuable viewpoints.

The team has been closely following your comments, videos and streams and you can rest assured we’ll be looking to improve the final game based on your responses. Though we’re still not putting pants on the lizard.

Development is entering the polish stage and we’re working our hardest to make the game as sparkly as possible in time for release day early next year.

Look out for more Yooka-Laylee content reveals in the coming months. Thanks for your support!

Update

Really excited to play this game next year!

The underwater looked a bit rough, still the game is looking better than I had hoped for. Fingers crossed it will be close to original BK in gameplay and level design.

Wow, looks super-impressive and exactly what I'd hope for the game they're trying to make.

Excellent stuff. I didn't back this but at this rate I'll probably buy it. I haven't played a game like this since forever.

the tower structure towards the end looks fantastic, sadly most other locations don't quite reach that level.
I don't think the art and color design is spot on most of the time.

Really looking forward to this. Have they talked yet about the differences between all the versions? I'm doubting between Wii U and PS4.

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
As someone who backed the Kickstarter for this I'm trying to stay on a media blackout as I don't need to see it again really.

It's so darned tempting though. Must, resist. That screenshot looks amazing too. As long as it captures the spirit of the N64 games I'm going to be exceptionally happy.

That trailer didn't really do anything for me. I'm interested to see how it reviews before picking this up. I really hope they have polished platforming and a fun story before release

I kinda wish there was more platforming. Seems to be a lot of walking around huge, empty-ish areas and long, winding pathways.

It's true I haven't played Banjo or DK 64, but were those games also mostly running around a big world collecting stuff over actual 3D platforming? Just curious.

this reminds me more of sonic adventure than it does of mario 64.

please don't kill me.

Why would anyone want to kill you? Sonic Adventure is a good game.

Everything about this looks great, except that I really dislike the way Yooka looks. He just looks so damn bland. I think he needs something to make him look a little more interesting like Sonic's shoes or DK's tie.
Maybe it's the lack of facial expressions on him that bothers me. The way his mouth is shaped doesn't really lend itself well to make them varied enough.
Or I just haven't seen enough of the game and it's not really an issue.

Woohoo! I'm not watching any more trailers for this, want it to be super fresh. I wonder if this game will take advantage of Neo's specs.

I'm desperate for some new Banjo type gameplay, Yooka-Laylee looks great so far.
Now should I get the Wii U or PC version.

I never played the Banjo Kazooie games, (I guess Conker doesn't count). However, I'm definitely interested in getting this.

Pretty much. There was platforming in them, but calling them adventure games or something is probably more accurate. You don't literally just collect stuff though, there's generally puzzles to solve for the major collectables.

Definetely check the Banjo Kazooie remaster if you have a 360 or One.

I have a 360 but I put it away years ago and I don't want to have to buy a new controller because the old one has problems with the left stick. I'll just focus on this since it's a new game considering my backlog.

I'd kind of like to hear some more of David Wise's compositions. Kirk hope;'s music is good, but I don't think we've had a trailer with Wise's music yet

Please don't be another Mighty Number 9

Did Mighty No 9 ever look good outside of concept art?

Looks okay. Some of the gameplay looked a little rough around the edges. I liked the flybys of the levels as most of them looked great from a visual perspective.

levels look a bit too big....banjo tooie had the same problem, with levelsso big that were a bit too dispersive...banjo-kazooie size maps would have been for the best IMHO

if you are interested in the game you like the genre..and if you like the genre how the hell did you not play banjo-kazooie?? ò_ò

I played Mario 64 and Kazooie back to back on my N64 and i honestly feel like people are missing out if they havent played Kazooie. Tooie and DK64 are where things start to get absurd because it just becomes collecting for the sake of collecting at that point.

Tooie is amazing, DK64 has some issues tho.
