Well, he's right. (That vehicle from world 3 and some of Rextro's vehicle-based minigames are the exception). The controls are tight and responsive. Platforming is so easy in Yooka-Laylee!
So, uh, when is this game supposed to become disappointing? Because I'm two worlds in and I'm loving it so far. (Shitty quiz notwithstanding)
He also Loved Star Fox Zero. He's like an opposite Jim Sterling
Edit: "Controls are tight across the board" Yeeesh
It looks like you guys are having fun! I'm stuck waiting for the switch version. Do you have any tips and tricks?
Star Fox Zero is a great game, so it's not surprising he likes it.
I immediately knew Yooka felt like he was going to feel floaty when they showThe controls feel a little floaty. Almost like yooka needs longer legs.
Tom Nook Sawyer said:He's not "right," you just happen to agree with him (despite listing some exceptions).
I happen to disagree; the controls didn't feel that tight to me when it comes to certain moves, and especially as it applies to vehicles and transformations. And especially not when compared to banjo-kazooie
Guys, I'm at a Gamestop buying the physical version, but I've got no Internet until next week at home. What's the size of the day one patch? Thinking about using my phone as a workaround just for the update.
So everyone agrees that Glitterglaze Glacier is the best level, right?
I keep coming back here just for the music and overall atmosphere. It might even beat out Freezeezy Peak for me.
Galleon Galaxy and Moodymaze Marsh are better IMO.

Well, so far, my ranking goes:
Level 3
Level 1
Level 2
Level 4
I haven't played level 5 yet.

Glitterglaze is the worst (but still fine, overall). The cave sucked, the dark quiz sucked, the truck sucked, the arcade and karts were even worse than usual, and the boss was tedious and uninteresting. Each world has some bad pagies, but none came close to the concentration of them there.
My ranking so far: 1>4>3>>2
Really? Ouch.On Steam I think it just redownloads the game. I remember downloading 3.8 gigiabytes twice, once for preload and once for day one.

I'm with you. That boss was just an enormous pain. I quite like the casino, myself. I'm trying to get the rest of the pagies in 2 now, but I'm having a hard time. None of my solutions have worked. I don't want to talk about what I'm facing though because I want to do this on my own![]()
Wait, what boss are you guys talking about? The thing in? If anything I was a bit disappointed that he went down so easythe boilerNot super interesting but not grating either. You can hurt him a few times in a row with a single breath of fire. Took no damage. I wonder what that moving thing in the middle of the room was for, though. That irritated me for a moment.

You're better at this than I am. He was too fast moving for me. I didn't figure out until after that you could. I don't know if that would have helped. It was so tedious wearing him down. At least thebreak the ice in front of the torches with the sonar blastfight was thrilling.INEPT

Really? Ouch.
You've played the game all the way up to World 4 despite considering it hot garbage made by talentless hacks, so they must be doing something right. Most people would stop playing a game they claim to hate so much.
Dude, level 5 is awesome! To me it's the best of them all...It kinda feels like the most budget went into this one, haha. But really, I like the presentation, the music and the otherworldly feeling here. My ranking would be as follows:
Level 5
Level 1
Level 3
Level 2
Level 4
1. I said the minecart sections are garbage.
2. I never said I "hate" the game.
3. I would play it all the way even if I did hate it because it's the spiritual successor to my favorite game of all time and I just need to see this through. I was expecting a rough ride from the very start. It ended up being a very poor game, all my pre-release concerns were confirmed and then some, but not once during my playthrough did I consider dropping it. That doesn't mean it's good.
Ah, the good old days of defending DK64! I'd still do it but I can't blame anyone for thinking it's a chore. Man, I'll post some music later...Some Y-K players probably never played it because of the bad rap it got over the years.Yoshi said:I am looking forward to it, people who rate the levels similarly to myself praise world 5 a lot. Also I'm really glad you showed up in this thread - good memories of discussing Rare platformers over a decade ago and finally we have a new one at hand!
It's just not for you..Why not just stop? I never could endure playing a game I don't enjoy especially when it's that big. :O
That's a bad argument, sorry. The genre is for me. We're talking about a clone of my favorite game of all time, how is it not for me? That doesn't make any sense.
If you think it's a good game, that's great. I don't. I think it's tolerable at best. And the problem is not me. It's a game that is plagued by bad design choices, so many that I can't even begin to list them. If this is a legitimately good game, what are we going to call Banjo, Jak 1 and the 3D Marios? Because not even "legendary" would be enough to give them the proper distance to Yooka-Laylee.

I've been surprised by people not liking it. The emptiness makes it feel more atmospheric and a little dreamy.
But I'd say my rankings are:
Level 2
Level 3
Level 5
Level 4
Level 1

What do you dislike so much about the first level, out of curiosity?

I can see how some of glitterglaze might annoy people, but I didn't have any trouble really and ended up enjoying the level.
Why don't ppl like the hub? Because it's a bit made like and confusing? BK was a bit like that too.
The Completionist did a review of the game. Heit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltlxQLpQEF4loves
