Gears 5 was released in 2019, Hivebusters in 2020, then they've done collaborations on several games and Reloaded is coming out soon on PS5, and they're obviously working on E-Day.
Undead Labs is more concerning. Still not a decade but State of Decay 2 was released in 2018 and going by Wikipedia State of Decay 3 is all they've been working on since they were acquired the same year. It's quite absurd that 3 was there on the Xbox Series unveil, an obvious target render. Then nothing. I'm just waiting to hear the news that the studio has been closed. Too much silence…

I liked Gears 5, just not the story choice. I was concerned they would continue that story but there is no way to make it interesting with one story path since they would 100% kill off JD. Luckily they just pretended it never happened and went for E-Day instead, it's going to be awesome!

It lost it's gritty, serious tone/vibe it used to have. From what was shown of E Day, it looks like a proper OG Gears, so there's hope, but it better not being just in the marketing, and then the actual gameplay is like gears 4 and 5.

There was nothing truly wrong with the gameplay in Gears 4 and 5 imo. They had dips though.
The droids in 4 was boring. That's the biggest problem for me. I wanted the Locusts. And the mech was plain strange and the tower defense mechanic felt out of place. But by the end it felt like proper Gears. Was about an 8 for me.
And the open areas in 5 was boring. That's the biggest problem there imo. The actual action maps were great. All in all it's one of my favorites. A 9. I really liked the Jack additions, made the action feel more strategic.
But as said the story choice really rubbed me the wrong way, they wanted you to hate JD so much but I replayed it to see him live and for me that's the proper ending. Del was a paper thin nothing character. There was so much more to tell about JD and there was already a revenge plot so pulling Marcus into that is just lazy story telling.
