Why remake anything? FF6 was a great game in its own right, if Square Enix ever touched that mythology again, I've got a better idea than to just remake FF6.

A prequel to FF6. Final Fantasy - The War of the Magi. Period. :D
 
from a business perspective, FF 7 is by far the best choice for a remake, and what better timing than with all these FF7 spinoffs and movie......its just asking for a remake with the bad translation, and many mysteries left uncovered.

but i really would love to see the xenogears remake, even more than another xenosaga. in fact, i hate xenosaga. xenogears is one of a kind....probably the one game that kept me glued to my screen wanting to keep playing to find out what came up next.

The people who use the translation and plot holes as reasons why they want a remake just make me shake my head. No one just wants to admit "I WANT TO SEE TIFA'S BOOBIES AND CLOUD'S HAIR AND THE MASAMUNE IN SUPER DETAIL!"

But aside from that, I'd be interested how FFVII as a game would turn out when they choose to use realistic graphics, and how they would tackle the more comical/unrealistic/nonsensical parts of the game that would seem out of place in a non-SD setting.
 
a FFVIII would be nice and expanded as well. a FFVII would be better(with some new materia, mini-games, better transalation) but FFV remake would be the best (expanded with new dungeons and new classes and such)
 
Nah. The best thing would be a movie interpretation of FF7 by Tim Burton. Or even better, how about Paul Anderson?

Because EVERYONE loves Paul Anderson.
 
A Street Fighter III: Thrike Strike remake with high resolution 2D graphics at 720p with all the backgrounds from New Generation, Double Impact, and Third Strike.

Why would you want them to die for remaking such an amazing game!?!?!??

But uh, Parasite Eve. Nothing else I care about. I want to see PE remade so badly so that Square can REALLY make it a "cinematic RPG". PE with amazing ingame graphics, voice acting, music.. and most importantly she wouldn't run like she was in a dress for the whole game!
 
Actually I think a FF7 remake would totally rock! They'd of course have to add materia in with more special abilities and such I'm thinking. Plus the graphics would really do for an overhaul. Come on, SSX graphics for the Snowboarding section:P
 
Screw Xenogears, it's overrated anyway. I want to see a remake of Chrono Trigger!

*Cue* "you're claiming Xenogears is overrated and in the same breath clamouring for a CT remake!?" remarks...
 
Any 2d games being requested for remake most likely won't happen, as they will probably release a remake but for handheld consoles. I wouldn't mind Final Fantasy Tactics 2 on the PSP though.

As for the VIIR rumors, its funny how its gone from being on Ps2 (to they point where they announced it I think, along with VIII and IX, and then canning it), and then to the PSP, and now the PS3. I actually do remember seeing something about square say they would consider remaking the game when you wouldn't be able to play it anymore, in other words whenever PS(Next) is not compatible with the PsOne.

There is a slight difference between the FFVII on PS2/PSP rumours and the newer rumours of FFVIIR for PS3. Firstly there's now the compilations of FFVII. After years of nothing there's not one, not even two, but three games and a movie featuring the world of FFVII. And then there's the whole FFVII Tech Demo from E3. I'm still not believing until I see it, but it does make a hell of a lot of sense to remake FFVII now.

The compilations stuff is undoubtedly going to make people want to replay FFVII. Unfortunately the original FFVII has not aged well at all. That's pretty much the reason I'd go for an FFVII remake even though I prefer VIII. The two later PSOne FFs are still reasonable to play today, but FFVII, yeesh, it's hard to believe that it once blew people away.
 
A Xenogears remake would be a godsend, hell I don't even care about a remake that much, just throw me one of Fei's past or future incarnations next gen and I'll be a happy man, that would actually be cooler.

if xenogears was episode V(i think, i forgot) of the xenosaga series, then maybe Square should sell the rights to Namco, and have Namco work on it instead. Such a bad ass game with crazy ass themes, and one of a kind mood to it.
