What's your fav attack that you pulled of in a RPG? I have to say that the limit breaks in FF8 are among my absolute favs. My Final Heaven with Zell and The End with Selphie are my two fav attacks ever. I have only seen the end once.

Wasn't there one in FF8 where you summon Odin, but then he gets sliced in half by someone else? That was awesome.

Knights of the Round, not only because how powerful the summon was, but the length one had to go through to obtain it.

Well worth it

My favorite is the Bahamut summon in FFIX.... I was blow away the first time I saw that and since it came a particularly dramatic point in the game just served to make it even sweeter.

You summon odin in more than one FF game.

It's funny how much the Final Fantasy games use names from the Nordic Mythology.

Odin, ragnarök, thor, Sleipner, freya, Valkyrie etc.

? I'm saying that instead of him actually attacking the enemy, he gets attacked himself.

yeah when he did Mega flair right?

Eternal Darkness in FF9 was also very cool, but a very long summon.

If you have gotten Odin, when you fight Seifer one time, Odin comes out, tries to kill Seifer, but gets his ass kicked.
After that Gilgamesh will come randomly instead of Odin.

Yes, I mean it just look hella devastating...

To be fair though FFIX was my first FF experience (I had just recently gotten into the console scene, I was all about the PC back then) and I was blown away by most of the summons.

I wish you could fast forward the knights of the round

At times I thought the same thing, but when you use it on sephiroth for the 1st time...

...I loved every minute of it. :lol

Behold! Pirate's Wrath!

As for enemies attack:

Cutlass Wrath! and Feel My Fire! Anita Burst! (due to the purposely hilarious voice acting)

+1 Pirate's Wrath, Vyse's scream of anger is so BREATHTAKING! DEATH TO ALL!!1

I would also say...

PK Pussy Omega (lol earthbound i made my attack pussy)

"eat some pussy and go to bed"

man that game rules

Best summon ever: Bahamut Zero, FF7. It was so over the top, so ridiculous, I can't help but love it to this day. Bahamut flies into outer space, and fires a planet-melting beam that apparently is hyper accurate to the point where it pierces the core of the planet and melts both your foes and the ground beneath them. I remember just laughing my ass off in 1997 when I did that for the first time.

Best limit break ever: Squall's third Renzokuken finisher...the one with the giant energy tower. That one's pretty great too, a beam of energy that rises to space and is brought down on your foe - cutting a groove in the planet in the process. Awesome.

So I was playing an RPG right, and the most exciting thing happened. It was so exciting, in fact, that I feel it is worthy of being mentioned as my favorite 'special' attack in any RPG. See if you can guess the game at the end.

So my main hero right, I had the hero and a few other party members preparing for a hard fight because I knew about and and spent the last 3 hours powerleveling my party up just so I could beat this badly balanced game. So then I was walking around and this CRAZY screen transition appears and then BOOM! I'm in a fight!! So my party gets in position and I decide to start this fight off slow so I press the [confirm] button! All the other characters stand still as my hero goes forth and attacks the enemy but he COUNTERATTACKS!! So I decide that I need to heal my hero so I get my healer and press down, confirm, down, down, right, confirm, left, confirm!! Holy shit, I just healed my hero. Now THAT was smart!! Only a trun based RPG can provide such tactics! The bad guy attacks my other party member that didn't do anything yet and that person dies, so I use my hero and press right, down, confirm, down, down, down, down, down confirm, confirm!! HELL YEAH!! Now that one dead person is being revived! So now that this person is back alive I select: down, right, down, confrm, down, down, down, confirm, confirm. The person enters a charging state and unleashes a terriffyingly repetetive attack!! This attack was awesome the first two hundred times I saw it!!

Knights of the Round was fantastic the first time.....

But I have to hand it to Squall's Lionheart. Man, did that shit rock or what? What's more his standard Renzokuken limit break has different animations for different enemies. How cool is that?

Even though you could only really use it at the very end of the game, I liked using the rune of torment in planescape: torment.

I loved unleashing the emblems in LTTP. That was just a joy to see all the enemies go POOF for a bit of magic power. Plus the animations were cool at the time.

I like most of the attack animations in Fire Emblem VII, but one of my favourites is the triple-pegasus attack. Even though it takes a little while to get, it's fun to watch.

Planescape Torment had some good ones, like the Nodrom cannon. It would open this rift to the Nodrom homeplane where they had this super massive cannon, they'd fire it through the rift and blast your enemies to pieces. The meteor storm one was pretty cool too.

yeah, and there was also the celestial judgment thing you could get. Some of the high end spells were trying to be over the top like FF summons, but they didn't really come close even if they were also absurd.

I would say most the added interactive Squaresoft adds to their FF sumons and Limit breaks make them ALL favourites. Squall's was particulatly memorable and you have to admit that summoning is always super fun

My nostalgic favorite is still the Silver Fang from Phantasy Star 1.

Oooh, and Hayward's special attack in Shining Force III, Stardust? Man, there are tons of favorites in that game.

FF7's omnislash.

Awesome speed power and visual kinetic energy in this attack... much better than KOTOR imo, because it was fast and had the potential for more damage.

Skies of Arcadia had some great attack animations near the end of the game.

The attack in Disgaea that ends with Laharl laughing while he rides into the playfield on a meteor is nice as well.
