Starship Troopers

Watched it as a kid and took it at face value as a big dumb action flick with boobs. Watched it as an a adult and it's a satire with boobs. It works as both. Excellently paced and Verhoevenly violent. Love it
I wrote a thesis on it in English literature when I was at university. I got a 9.4 for it.

Fantastic film.

This combined with Robocop, Total Recall are a Trilogy of Ultra gory excellent sci fi films

I have a few'Go to' movies for this very occasion,

Big Trouble In Little China
The Warriors
...and if Saving Private Ryan is on, I still put it on - can resist any of those.

Big Trouble in Little China is a classic. One of the few genre mash ups that worked IMO.

As Nicholas Cage said in Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (in response to being asked what his favorite movie is), "that's one of those questions that is impossible to answer. You can't pick just one!"

Too bad his last 2 movies were terrible :p

My favorite Del Toro film is Hellboy 2. I'm still extremely salty he never completed his Hellboy Trilogy

The general, or whatever he was, is probably one of the most truly despicable villains ever put to cinema. Not a single redeeming quality.

The first time I watched it with a bunch of friends all peaking on mushrooms and I never laughed this hard in my life

I saw it on very strong acid for the first time tripping with my best friend, his two sisters, and their boyfriends. The scene where they can barely make it across the street had us dying.

A fun fact: that weird blonde kid they picked up in the desert was Tobey McGuire. It's surprising how few people remember that.
