Shawshank Redemption
*edit: Excuse me, THE Shawshank Redemption.
I wrote a thesis on it in English literature when I was at university. I got a 9.4 for it.Starship Troopers
Watched it as a kid and took it at face value as a big dumb action flick with boobs. Watched it as an a adult and it's a satire with boobs. It works as both. Excellently paced and Verhoevenly violent. Love it

I have a few'Go to' movies for this very occasion,
Big Trouble In Little China
The Warriors
...and if Saving Private Ryan is on, I still put it on - can resist any of those.
This thread shows why I like GAF: people here just have good taste.
Big Trouble in Little China is a classic. One of the few genre mash ups that worked IMO.
I never watched that one. I always wanted to watch it
probably Rosemarys Baby.
I’ve seen Demolition Man like 20 times so idk.
maybe Demolition Man then?
horror is my favorite genre, and Rosemarys Baby is my favorite horror film, so figured it would logically be my fav movieRosemary's Baby is my favorite horror film of all time
Pans Labyrinth.. Hands down!
Too bad his last 2 movies were terrible
My favorite Del Toro film is Hellboy 2. I'm still extremely salty he never completed his Hellboy Trilogy
The general, or whatever he was, is probably one of the most truly despicable villains ever put to cinema. Not a single redeeming quality.
I'm sorry I can't just pick one......
The first time I watched it with a bunch of friends all peaking on mushrooms and I never laughed this hard in my lifeFear and loathing in Las Vegas, dunno how many times I watched it.
