I've been looking for the pictures I took ages ago but can't find them, so I just took fresh ones. It's really not as dark in there as some of the pictures suggest, BTW :)

View from the front door -- you can barely see the gaming throne there on the floor behind the ladder:

That pile of blankety crap isn't normally there, but nobody cleans my room on a Sunday, so... oh, and all my old systems/games are stuffed into those plastic drawers.

DSC00559.jpg

The Deck, as I call it. Used to be where my computer was and where I built vast Lego cities. Now it's a repository for all the stuff I don't use but can't bear to throw away:

DSC00560.jpg

All my little toys and knick-nacks:

My beloved G5:

I totally f'ed this picture, but you get the idea:

DSC00328.jpg

The dual game/DVD racks, plus more under the foot of the bed. Planning to put two mini-movie posters up there above the DVD rack:

Olimario decorates the same way he tells other people to dress -- have no discernable style, use products marketed at upper-middle-class WASPS, for a respectable but totally generic look. That said, he only needs to throw in a few things to give his pad a little bit of heart.

The rest of you are out of control though :lol Put your huge-ass collection of DVDs, games or manga in a cabinet with closing doors. At best it just looks tacky and ugly, at worst it makes you look like dork-of-the-century. Obviously some folks here are too far gone to do anything, but the rest can make a change before it's too late ;)

Eminem - do you live in an office or something? I don't think I've ever seen a house or apartment with those piecework popcorn-panel ceilings.

My room does not fall into any of these categories.

Jesus f-ing christ, look at all the clutter.

A few rooms could be as clean, but his is uncluttered. I love the uncluttered room.

GO Oli!!!

:lol :lol we finished the basement ourselves, and the easiest/cheapest way to do it was with the drop cieling. was either that or drywall, and we had enough of fucking drywall, so we went with the drop cieling for 89 cents a tile.

Helpful age restrictions for the confused:

Age 15: Racing car bed must be sold, along with cutesy wood-carved sign on the door that says "<your name>'s Room." Don't worry, you've lived here long enough now that the hundreds of tourists and vistors will know exactly where to find you even without a sign explicitly telling them.

Age 18: You are no longer allowed to decorate with action figures, statuettes, or any other toy that might have a fancy name. Sculptures are acceptable but they may not be related to any sort of genre-fiction.

Age 21: You are no longer allowed to have wall scrolls.

Age 25: You are no longer allowed to run Christmas lights all over the place as a substitute for decent lighting. Must also stop decorating with empty liquor bottle, beer bottles, or promotional items from alcohol companies.

You are like Olimario 2: Electric Boogaloo. A ton of unpainted wood furniture always makes me think "dorm room".....as does that cheap ultra-thin carpeting that always gets laid down in dormitories.

Your place looks like a pretty amazing litle wonderland. I love the loft and the sliding pole (seriously). If you become a pedophile, you are going to get a lot of ass.

Well that's because this is graduate student housing. None of the furniture is mine and all I really have here is what I need, all my actual house stuff is at my old house. I don't really see the similarities to Olimario other than that it's clean and has wood furniture, but I guess I'll leave figuring that out to you, Queer Eye.

Fowler's room is fucking badass. If I had that little loft thing, I'd definitely use it. That's just so cool. More pics!

:lol

Problem with the loft is I honestly don't know what to do with it. I had a builder come in a few months ago and reshuffle things around to its current configuration, but I just had no idea what to do with the loft and left it as it is for now. The biggest problems with it (and the reason I abandoned it to live downstairs) are that it's a PAIN IN THE ASS to keep going up and down and there isn't much in the way of space, especially with the giant gaping hole for the pole. I have been thinking about turning it into a little chillout area to lie down and read, but that's about it.

EDIT: I'll throw up more pics of the huge fucking mess of wires and old Lego later!

My place looks like something out of a Philippe Starck showroom. Seriously.

I'd take pictures but it's slightly on the embrassing side.

Damnit, I had some photos of my freshly decorated room but I must have deleted them, I'll take some next time.

EDIT: Found. Note: This room is completely unlived in. My sister just bought a house which I'll be going to live in when I start uni in September. So my room is decorated in preparation. Not finished yet mind you. Need to do something about some of the rather plain looking walls. And the gay bed spread. :lol

These are a few months old, but not very little has changed since then. I always keep it pretty tidy. I guess that means I'm a homosexual. It's my efficiency apartment I moved into last August:

apartment1.JPG

apartment2.JPG

The pictures are dark and only show the place from one general angle, but you get the general idea.

Oh hell here's a video I took of it a few months ago with my digicam. It's about 3.5mbl Enjoy!
http://etisnomad.com/misc-files/apartmentvideo.AVI

I don't think these will be up for much longer.

And I find oli's style of room perfectly comfortable, but I'd go nuts after about a week or so. I need some style and atmosphere for shit's sake.

I know my room is sterile, but it's not as open and bland as the pictures make it seem.
I will take some advice and hang up some of my photography around the room and I'll get back to GAF with my room makeover.

I need to take some pics with warm lighting, too.

I like your old room better, even if the desk looks like it was stolen from the floor of a Business Depot. I just can't believe how you're able to keep your desk(s) so clean. No loose papers, nothing's out of place. It's freaky.

You guys think my room now is sterile, yet you like the old on better? Crap.
And My room was shit dirty before I cleaned it just prior to these photos being taken.

All of my papers are in my filing cabinet in my walk-in closet. I keep everything of mine organized so it's easy to access.

Thank you for making me the majority. I feel special. I like the old room better, but not by much. The couch looks nice, and any color is better (for the desk) than your current one. Is that a duvet without a duvet cover on? It's not a bad room really, I'm just busting your balls.

Count of Concision
I love how the minimum size of rooms in this thread is about 3 times the size of mine. :(

My room's literally 12 ft. x 9 ft., and the 12 foot length doesn't even extend across the entire room, since I have a closet that's in the wall that makes me lose roughly 3 x 3 ft. of space. Then throw in furniture, my bed, a tv etc. and I'm left with nothing except a 3 foot walkway in between my furniture and the bed. I'm 6'1"/220. Kill me. :( And this is after my parents broke one of the walls to expand my room when I was 4 years old. :lol When I was born, they figured they'd leave the bigger room open in case they had a girl (seeing how girls "need more closet space"), so they gave me the smallest room. My sister's room is about 19x16 feet (of open, uninterrupted space; i.e., no protrusions such as my wall closet), and my parents' room is roughly the same. I got the shaft. I've floated the idea of taking my sister's room now that she moved out, but my mother's not keen on me doing so until she gets married, in case she ever moves back home. :p So I usually just do my work in there or exercise.

Wish I had a digital camera, though, if only to show off my wallpaper, which is the coolest ever. :D Even the wallpaper guys (about 24 years old), when they were putting it up, said that they wished they had this paper in their rooms. :p

Olimario's room is awesome-- very spacious, bright (I'm partial to blues, grays, and whites), and orderly with clean lines. You have your own private bathroom? Pimp. :D

Fowler's room brings out the kid in me-- great room. I dunno if I'd be able to resist sneaking up onto "The Deck"-- it's like you have your very own treehouse. :D I mean, that's every kid's dream to have a room like that. Oh, wait...you mean I'm supposed to be 26 years old? NEVAR! :D :lol

Chittagong, sweet room. :) Very "minimalist" and modern. It has a great laid-back feel to it. Props.

The room is relatively nice, but I dig the poster choice...sort of. It's a nice poster, but the other theatrical poster is leagues better.

I'll have some pics of my room on Saturday, so let's keep this thing bumped until then.

And, Olimario, nice to see you take the photography advice. It will allow you to play with both the pictures and the framing. Hang them symmetrically, or hang them in abstract orders. And, yes, the new room is leagues better than the old one. That desk is fugly. While my room is nowhere NEAR clean right now, I am not so bitter as to resent yours for being that way.

Chittagong may lose a few token points for not having proper racks for his AV equipment, but he still wins the fucking thread. The rest of you should be ashamed. :p

If I knew this was a competition, and Chitta was posting, I wouldn't have "entered" in the first place, I've seen that pic before. Especially from my bare-bones NY apt. vs. my house. :D

Haha, so you like the Nemo, but don't? :lol

I cycle my posters anyway as it's relatively easy to take them out of the frames and swap them. I was in a Nemo mood that week. And Bruce is on my shelf.

Need to do some other shit with the room before I finally move in as well. Also, I'm getting a projector for my room so there'll be a pulldown screen where that Nemo poster is at the moment. Should be awesome. :)

Pfft, you can get most of the furniture in Chitta's apartment from Ikea. And as for the laptop and tv..........probably stolen. Or maybe they're those fake hollow plastic set pieces that furniture stores use to display their merchandise. Ikea probably threw them in for free because of all the shit he bought there. Definitley. Chitta you cheap bastard.
