O.K. let's say you're about to be shipped off to a deserted island, and you can only take

1)One home console of your choice, with 50 of your favorite games...-or-

2)The most kick ass gaming PC with your favorite PC games and emulators.

Which one would you choose?

If F-Zero GX hits the Xbox like you said it would, I'd take a modded Xbox. Otherwise, PC.

Seriously, with the PC rig, you get 50% chances that half the games would not work on the PC (or, if you get the Thomson drive Xbox, in that case, don't bring EA games...)

I'll take my console - because it would be hooked up to my 48" Widescreen HDTV and surround system. Wonder if I could get some DTV stations on that island with a set of rabbit ears.

Otherwise, I guess I'd take a PS2.

With or without net access, I think I'd take the PC for various reasons(cough*mame/ZSNES/Kawax*cough)

Jeez man, if you have a pc with net access, you can still access these forums, access news and other stuff that aren't gaming related, download porn, listen to music, watch movies, and wait for emulators for current systems to come out in a few years. Plus with roms and shit, you'd have an enourmous of games to play.

With or without internet access, it's still the PC. Without the internet access, it's a close call but still the PC. Internet access would seal the deal for sure.

Easy, the PC;

1. There are far more great games on the PC than any other platform
2. In my spare time i could program an emulator to play PS2, cube and xbox , dc games and download the games.

Or i could just email my wife and tell her where the hell i am stuck and get the air / sea rescue to come get me.

PC. And it's not close. Emulation of everything up to 16-bit. MAME. The best online play (Assuming there's internet). Tons of great exclusives. And the best ports of many console games. Nintendo is unique, but Gamecube hasn't been strong enough this gen and everything else could be played on the PC.

Definately my pc, with peripherals.
Not a fair comparison though...
Lightwave, wacom intuos 3 tablet, corel painter, flash, adobe premiere...that's all i'd need.
And then i'd get 20GB of mp3, complete romsets for atari vcs, intellivision, colecovision, c64, spectrum, amiga, atari st, msx1+2, snes, genesis, mame, x68000, wonderswan, neo geo pocket, game gear, nes, master system, pc engine, linx...and movies, pdf books, and the pictures i took with my nikon...oh, and so on.
