3 years since thread creation wow.

I revisit these movies from time to time, I don’t think you can go wrong with action movies, recently we had a new Batman, Bourne tv show, Matrix.

I actually just watched Saving Private Ryan (and Top Gun) last night and was floored by how amazing it still is. Hadn't seen Saving Private Ryan in like 2 decades, and it blew me away.

The 4k bluray was especially nice looking. But those battle scenes had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Great stuff

1. Casino - Epic Scorsese gangster flick, similar to Goodfellas but even more refined, in my opinion.

2. The Matrix - One hell of a sci-fi, action epic. The mixture of brilliant story and cinematography/choreographer really drew me in at a young age.

3. This is England - Great soundtrack and again, brilliant storyline. Deals with lots of issues that are fairly important today in various ways.

4. The Godfather pt. II - I just love this film!

5. American Beauty - Just another solid story with great visuals.

6. Dead Man's Shoes - Sweet British revenge film with some lovely comedic elements. Paddy Considine is gripping throughout.

7. There Will Be Blood - No explanation necessary.

8. Terminator 2 - Definitely one of the top 3 action films ever made, it's not even subjective.

9. Toy Story - Such an easy watch, the godfather of all Pixar films, some witty humor and an all round entertaining story.

10. American Pie - Probably not a top 10 film overall, but it was always a "go to" film through my younger years, one of those coming of age films for teens to prepare for "growing up". Silly humor, but you have to embrace that somewhere.

Drop Dead Gorgeous - Funniest dark humour movie ever and reflects what it was to live in a small town, only movie to cheer me up that much and that I can rewatch forever
Contact - I did a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in aerospace because of that movie
This is England - Brilliant melancholic view of the 80s that I which would have lived growing up instead of being stuck in a small town Canada
Steel Toes - Set in Montreal when I was that age and lived there and knowing how some friends turned out, it really hit close to home
The Goonies - Kids not seen as stupid go on a grand adventure, was the first grown up movie for kids imo
White Hustler - Knowing some of my dumb porn stars friends were doing that, was even more hilarious in a pathetic way
Addams Family Values - Another dark humour movie that hasn't aged a bit, I wished I went to camp Chippewa as I would have been one of the losers revolting
Dallas Buyers Club - That I could live in a normal way because of the sacrifices made by a few, just barely a decade earlier make you think if there's no big plan
Elephant - I lived through a school shooting, no deaths fortunately, and the guy who did it was a closeted homosexual loser who hanged himself on school property after, so it kinda gave me a bit more empathy
Christmas Vacation - Reminds me of my parents who hate xmas so much but try to make it grand and it fails every year, will always be a classic

Children of Men

Excellent movie. Anyone out there who wants to watch a flick that is one part drama, one part action, all intertwined in a dystopian setting it's a solid movie.

When I had paid movie channels back when this movie first hit them (probably late 2000s) they kept showing the movie of course. It was probably on every night on at least one of the channels. I must had seen this movie in full 5 times, and also sometimes I left on in the background.
