YouTube is Getting Worse

Those recommending premium for music how good is YouTube music compared to Spotify. Is literally every artist on there?

I don't really use audio books but what about them?

Also all those offering revanced. I just tried it and it's riddled with adverts...

Youtube premium is one of the only worth while products Google offers.

The features completely justify the cost imo.
I'm lucky that I'm still grandfathered into the $8/mo from back in like 2013 when it was for Google Music. It's the only subscription that I will never give up.

This is funny, and so true. I was looking for a specific video this morning in fact, and I was typing in all the relevant information in the search bar, and it didn't even come up in the results at all. It reached end of results and still did not find the video I was looking for. I finally found it by going outside of youtube. What a crock of shit youtube has become. I really really wish there was an alternative.

So it eventually worked again. I remember how I tried Premium last year and I couldn't go back to ads again, because holy shit has that become terrible. Good thing there are alternatives without ads.

Suddenly Youtube is pausing videos with a popup window reminding that ad blockers are forbidden. I'm using Brave browser. I can still play the videos though if I just close the popup.

I saw some pop ups few months ago, ignored them and everything works fine (Brave as well).

I've never looked for anything and not been able to find it put it that way. It's my only music player and it's great and no ads.

Fuck Google though 😂

What REALLY has pissed me off lately is just how many words need to be "censored" just to protect people's fee fees.

I. E

Unalived/Sewerslide instead of suicide.
Unhoused instead of homeless.
Graped instead of Raped.

Etc. Etc.

It's fucking RIDICULOUS!!!

Oh, and lest not forget PDFfiled instead of Pedophile.

Sure the aforementioned things are very serious issues but that kind of shit just makes a kind of mockery of them.

It sounds retarded as well.

Honestly, I have better luck using google search as a work around for youtube's search feature. The only way I can get Youtube to find anything relevant to get really specific with the search filters.

It's usually done to avoid de-monitisation rather than protect peoples feelings.
Gotta grift for that ad revenue.

I miss the days when youtube was for amateur creators.

Anyone else having massive problems with YouTube the last days?
Some issues in Europe and Asia, but tonight it's the worst. Buffering all the time and lowest quality possible.

I hate how bad YouTube censorship has become especially in regards to how they censors words in superchats. You have replace the offending word with another non offensive word. YouTube think they are being slick but in the long term people have been using different words to get past their censorship. I just think it's funny how much that has kind of backfired on them

It really has, YouTube and TikTok censorship has inadvertently contributed to the creation of a lot of new, funny slang terms.

Yeah it is only going to get worse as well. Pretty soon Google will need to readjust how "influencers" (you have no idea how much I hate this term) are paid, up the cost of premium, or show more ads to pay said influencer.

It's like that 80s anti drug commercial:
I need to work more
So I can make more money
So I can do more coke
So I can work more
So I can make more money
So I can do more coke....

It's like a monster.

What would happen if Google decided to no longer pay influencers in exchange for less ads? There will always need to be ads because a service like this will only make money through ads or those paying not to see ads.

The only way that I could see Google fixing this is by revamping their service model and start charging influencers for cloud storage in exchange for seeing less ads. But we all know what would happen, costs rise, etc and we're back to seeing ads.

I want to know why all my videos are defaulted at 720p on everything. Every video. Every platform I watch it on. I've checked every setting. I have to manually switch every video to 1080p or 4k. This isn't 2008. 720p looks like dog shit now.

You have Premium? If not, maybe they're pushing down the auto bitrate to save pennies.

I have premium
Mmm. I do too but haven't seen this.

Maybe you've been lucky to be selected into some A/B test.

I heard this morning that there's a new Hype thing on videos. I don't see the button for it on my interface yet but I see in some videos there's a hype counter. Sounds like they've just reinvented Like.

Not only does YT has way too many ads these days but they're like braindead AI videos. I hate the ads on Twitch too but at least they're advertising legit actual products.
I can't imagine Google thinking it's a good customer experience...

To default to max resolution on YouTube, use a browser extension like Auto Quality for YouTube on a computer, or go to the YouTube app's Settings > Video quality preferences on mobile to select "Higher picture quality" for Wi-Fi and mobile networks. For desktop, you must use a third-party extension since YouTube doesn't offer an in-built setting to permanently change the default quality

Because they don't want to admit that they do have biases since if they do, there's a case that they could get sued over it. They should be doing this to both sides but they only do it one side and it's ridiculous to see
Sides? Did you trip up and think you stumbled into politics? YouTube has no side, it just wants to screw everyone, bowing to their advert corporate overlords. This current change is another retarded attempt at making "think of the children" the default stance so everything needs to be sanitised and advertiser friendly but it's clear people don't like this either so who's making these rules???
