I feel like a chump for buying the original release

Game was okay but not the usual quality I expect from Ys

Wondering if there will be a PS5 release. Wasn't it DF that said the PS5 version ran better than the Switch version? Then again the Switch 2 is more powerful so hopefully there's no difference between it and a PS5 version.

I enjoyed the original release. Although it is kind of shitty they announced a new version not too long after the original came out, I don't think there's enough new stuff here to get worked up about. It would be nice to offer an upgrade path though in case I ever want to replay it sometime in the future.

Getting this for Switch 2. Still butthurt over buying the original on PS5 and then this shit gets announced not long after. No day 1 for me on Ys anymore. Which sucks because I'm big fan of the franchise. But fuck NIS for screwing over early adopters.

this wasn't NIS fault, this was on Falcom

Are JRPGs the only genre where they'll release a game, then release a new, better version like 1-2 years later? How do they get away with this shit?

Same thing they did with DQ11 and Persona 3-5. And didn't they do this with a lot of the Final Fantasy games as well (the "international" versions that were Japan only)

At least this one can be purchased at a discount if you have the original, I guess. Still retarded though.

Damn no Ps5?
I guess the OG must have sold like crap on Ps5.

You don't really need DF to guess any game ran better on Ps5 than Switch 1.
But yeah Ps5 is native 4K 60fps, Switch 1 is 900p (docked) at 30fps with drops and scaled back visual settings + much longer loading.

I'd imagine the Switch 2 will be 60fps, reduce the loading and get a decent IQ by running at a higher base res and than adding DLSS.

Well to be fair it's not as though I looked at any of the recent Ys games and though "Wow, that game is really pushing the system wicked hard." Then again given how much more powerful the S2 is over the S1 hopefully it can run it as well as a PS4.

I thought that was a Capcom thing. I mean I didn't buy SF6 because I got burned on SF4 and I held off on whatever the latest Monster Hunter is called because they do it with that as well.

Yes, I'm doing perfectly fine over the fact I got the original release and didn't even stop to consider they would pull something like this. Thank you very much for asking

I've almost bought it myself. I had it in my card already and planned to buy it on the weekend so I could play. But that week, they've announced the Proud version for Japan and I subsequently was like "well, I guess I'll wait, then."

Still hilarious how Falcom not only fucked NISA but also themselves with this.
