Oh wow, did that put down feel good Tyler?

Of course such 'additional baggage' isn't needed, but maybe some people here are so wrapped up in their own myopia they don't actually realise other views exist.

Did you need to take time out of your day here? Why so serious?

Perhaps its because even the forum's owner is a bickering, sniping arsehole. Maybe the forum is such a tiresome shit hole to read because YOU are a petulant baby yourself. It's infectious, trickling down from the very top.

Enjoy your gaming industry 'fame' while it lasts, maybe you should sell up before you drive everyone away.

Been here since before 2004 under a couple of names: I'm out, GAF is no fun to actually take part in, too many cunts.

Bye to everyone actually nice, people I met in London recently etc. Do stay in touch. Everyone else: have fun having pointless back and forths with reaction fishing idiots and caring more about arguments than games.

Oh man, I wish you don't get banned so we can laugh when you come back and post later.

I think what's interesting is that this is still done in 3D with polygons and all...I say that because it'd be freakin awesome if we got to roam the LTTP overworld with the camera behind you. All it takes is a change in camera perspective, no? I know Nintendo probably wouldn't include that in the game, but the fact that a 3D LTTP overworld exists now is pretty awesome.

Actually making a bold prediction? I don't really understand why they would use so many resources to redesign the whole overworld in polygonal 3D (why not use some kind of sketch art/shading for the overworld? Possibly because they had to make it match the dungeon design I suppose) unless you could change perspective. That'd be pretty awesome (I realize I'm probably dreaming here).

I'm assuming this is the case because of the change in perspectives in the dungeons..so cool. Anyone who calls this "cheap" isn't really thinking this through all the way, IMO.

Such an unflattering comparison for the 3DS game:-( Oh well, I'm sure that at least the game itself will be good.

Just let me draw on the map again!

This basically confirms at least Link's model isn't done yet. It looks like Link's models and animation are (one of) the last things they work on in a Zelda game. I remember Link's voice and some of his animations in the E3 Skyward Sword showing were exactly the same as in Twilight Princess.
I wouldn't get hung up over Link's model yet.

Actually no I do not think the faces look the same at all. It's definitely a brand new model and face, totally designed to look like retro art with fancy new polys. It looks like a smooth plastic figurine almost, I love it. Look at that flat nose and those chubby cheeks, what a cutie pie. Finally a new-lookin Link.

This game is now #1 on my wishlist! All I can see is a new ALTTP with cool 3D effects. This perspective is my favorite for Zelda games! I would've have prefer a graphical style more like Four Swords Adventures (GC), but it's still gorgeous and a small price to pay for great 3D effects. You can say that I'm a 3D fan that play every 3DS games with the slider at 100% :P

Almost as bad as this game's artstyle.

The graphics are. . . starting to grow on me. There is something charming about the round, Harvest Moon chibi style. Seeing the higher quality screenshots really makes the colors pop. It does look much better than the DS games.

:)

A new Link to the Past game. That's just insane to think about! Ha ha! I don't know if it's because I'm slap happy from not sleeping or what, but when I watch the trailer now, I just have a big smile on my face. Interesting enough, I just started a new game of ALttP last night.

DUDE! A NEW LINK TO THE PAST! :))))

I thought I was the only one..

Maybe I need to take a break from seeing those screenshots. But I too am warming up to the artstyle. For some reason I don't want to though :/

I don't get the excitement. We had two 2.5D Zelda Games on the DS. Both weren't that great. Tbh, I'm kinda burned out on the series as a whole, especially on 2.5D. Basing it on LttP is not really a game changer. LttP was great back then for reasons which can't be replicated. The world itself ist just another Zelda World with all the things in it you already know.

The 2 DS zelda games weren't bad because they were overhead, they were bad because they were shit games.

Also what are these reasons that lttp was good that somehow can't be replicated?

Um no it's definitely just you. It "basically confirms" nothing.

The DS games are 3D, not 2.5D. You haven't even played this yet or seen anything and you're writing it off. Wait until we see again, it will look even better. Already it looks more involved than those watered down DS Zeldas with weak DS-centric puzzles. The return of multiple level dungeons and devilish puzzles are what I want in my Zelda games and early indications based on the footage make me hopeful.

It was good in relation to the time it was released back then. It can be a good game still of course, but the magic won't be there. This is basically New Super Mario Bros. - it's ok, but it's old. It's not very exciting besides some nostalgic reasons.

WTF!?

Mods please don't ban this guy haha, it's either hilarious or....something is wrong with him/her today?

I just watched the 3D trailer on my 3DS and the art style looks just fine when you see the game in action on a 3DS. It looks like A Link to the Past mixed with the re-imagined Ocarina of Time 3D models.

STOKED!

For me the best things about lttp are the well designed, challenging dungeons, the satisfying feel of all the items and interations in the game and the music.

None of those are things that deprecciate over time or can't be replicated.

PH and ST are the best handheld Zeldas. Love me them controls. Touch >>>>>> D-pad. Going to miss my new control style Zeldas. I'll take the hit though, maybe it'll make the Zelda community less annoying to converse with.

It's almost like you've already played the game but then again at least 30 people who have posted in this thread have already played it as well. :p

Agreed. The art style looks great to me, nicely updated, and still has the original's feel. The music sounds like the original, updated as well. Now hopefully we get what you mentioned above with a decent story.

I like the idea behind this, but what has been shown just looks too recycled, similar to that new Yoshi's Island 3DS game.

I used to love Zelda so much, but after the DS games and Skyward Sword I've just had enough of its current direction. If this game had truly 2D graphics I'd be more interested.

I am glad for everyone who is excited, though.

They'll probably refine the models before release anyways. Zelda games always look better in the end than their initial reveals.

The character model they are using for the chibi Link in LTTP 2....

It's Nintendo returning to the old design of Link for the first time in 20 years.

Take a look at this chart I made:

It's really nice of Nintendo to return to the classics. They could have very well just slapped one of their newer redesigns of Link....but they kept true to form.

Pretty sure the music in the trailer was just... trailer music. I wouldn't go using it as some basis as to what to expect. I hope the soundtrack doesn't just redo ALTTP music. Some would be fine totally, but it's a sequel, not a remake, and it needs new music.
