Zelda in November?

oh my god, arbitrary big-box retailer sets november 1st date, sell all your gamecubes, revolution launch title FTW!

common dude, did this really need a thread? You should know by now that most retailers set fake dates in the middle of a quarter!

If you preorder now, you get a bonus preorder disc that contan a remixed version of Windwaker (graphics look realistic instead of cel-shading)

Hell yeah!

I think we'll see it out before May. Why would Nintendo want to have anything on the floor at E3 that would stifle the Revolution's impact?

And that's the reason why Zelda will be out before May?

I think it's become more and more obvious that this is going to be a launch title for the Revolution (also given Reggie's recent comments). We're half-way through Feburary, and still no new media ... I'd say even a summer release is very, very unlikely.

Nintendo will include the GameCube version on the same disc in all likelyhood or just ship the game with both a GOD disc and a DVD Revolution disc in the same package to avoid the confusion of two different versions. It's not a problem whatsoever. Nintendo promised GCN owners would get to play the game, but they didn't promise anything beyond that.

It's for the best all around. GC owners still get the game, but Nintendo will get the extra sales as this will sell with the Rev system for a looooooong time.

If Zelda: TP is indeed the best game of 2006 ... it would be a big coup for Nintendo to have it with the Revolution day and date with launch. With the GameCube ... Luigi's Mansion and Wave Race weren't even close to the best games released that year.

Ah well, it's probably for the best. The GC is dead.

It'll still play on the GCN I'm sure. Nintendo has gone out of their way to promise that and I don't think they want to pull a Sega and piss off those remaining hardcore GCers, because it can come back to bite you in the butt.

Really though enhancing the graphics for the Rev ... is it really that different from a PC game having different graphic models on the same game disc for different config PCs? In this case I think Nintendo could do that, since its a bit of a special case.

I could see some limited Revmote usage, but nothing absolutely integral to the main quest of the game.

Oh, I know it will work on the GC. I just think it's best they release the game around the time of the Revolution launch. Even though non GC owners could probably buy the cube for $50 at that time to play it, they will most likely just go ahead and get the Rev.

Maybe we'll get to see the Revolution features of Zelda in action at E3. Really, having a Zelda game at launch would be huge for Nintendo.

honestly, at this point they should just make the damn game a REV launch title.

I sold my GameCube a month ago, completely forgetting this game was coming out. Doh!

Doesn't really matter either way, since the Revolution is backwards compatible.

Oh I would imagine Nintendo will release this day and date with the Revolution.

It's good PR all around too, since a title of Zelda's caliber and the fact that it's likely to be the biggest game release of 2006 will bring out people in line-ups which equals free press/hype/hysteria.

Launching it with the Rev but retaining a GC build almost gauruntees Zelda: TP should be the no.1 selling console game of 2006 too ... really, there's no Halo 3 or GTA4 this year, and even if there were, the 360/PS3 userbases are relatively restricted ... Zelda can sell both to GCN owners and Rev early adopters.

I wouldn't be surprised. It's pretty disappointing that we've been jerked around with this one for so long, the game better make up for it.

This game was never going to come out in 2005 anyway IMO ... even if it was GC-only. EAD and Aonuma made it abundantly clear that they would not rush another Zelda out the door after Wind Waker just to have the game ready for a holiday deadline.

So really at that point, how big of a deal is it to get the game in November 2006 vs. April 2006?

If it came out in April '06 and undersold, it may make Nintendo cautious to make more games as big/epic as Zelda: TP ... so really its for the best. Metroid Prime 2 Echoes and Pikmin 2 did not sell as well as the original installments Zelda: TP could have sold less than Zelda: TWW. And it gives the design team if nothing else a few extra months to completely polish the game and maybe add a few surprises.

I want zelda the day the revolution launches in europe.

At least it has one.

Xbox on the other hand does not.

Somehow I doubt this. I don't even want to even see a release list for either system but it pretty much hits you when youre walking into a mall or specialty shop which system has already passed on. Its over-let it go Johnny.

Can we agree that after all this waiting, if this isn't hands-down the best Zelda game ever, Nintendo has failed?

And I don't even mean, "oh, it's on par with OOT," or "maybe ALTTP is still better." I mean that everyone in the whole world agrees that it is the best.

Yes.

Expecting a worldwide consensus that: "if this isn't hands-down the best Zelda game ever, Nintendo has failed?" is taking optimism a bit too far.

WORLDWIDE CONSENSUS

Let him name just *one* Xbox release that is at least 10% as big as Cube's Zelda.
