Zelda LttP is boring.

Hey guys I re-beat yet another game just minutes ago! Why LttP? Cause the other day I was teaching my mom how to use the GB Player and I popped this game in for example since she likes old games and anyway I noticed I had a second unfinished save file. I vaguely remember starting a second playthrough so it musta been over a year ago at least. It was saved up to Dark World dungeon three. Since that's pretty far I figured I'd finish it.....

But instead I soon found the reason I'd abandoned the save! This game is boring! >_<; Maybe its cause I beat a ton of times as a kid but I doubt it cause many games I've beaten lots have held up over time. Dungeon 3 was annoying cause of how broken up it is. Four was straight foward and simple and Blind was a neat boss to meet but lame to fight. Swamp dungeon was so forgettable I....don't even remember going through it. Ice palace however freaking sucks! I still to this day get lost and lost and lost in it.

It took me forever to get into Turtle Rock cause I needed the quake spell and forgot where it was! Well not really I thought it was in the Light World at the well of wishing. Nope its in that exact spot in the DARK WORLD. UGH! Two of the spells are in Light World so you'd kinda expect all three to be there! So I got in dreading the place would be horribly long except it was easy and short. OOooookay....

With all seven crystals I headed straight to the pyramid!......where nothing happened. I zoomed through the text so I don't know if it tells you where to go but when I figured it out I just about threw my GBA. So I have to fight through ANOTHER dungeon?! That was maddening since I'd thought I had just beat the last one and was on my way to end this misery by fighting the final boss but nope instead I have to plod through rehash tower.

At this point I whipped out a faq and just took the fastest way through it, ignoring map, compass and pointless side rooms. I beat the all four rehashed bosses in record time and finally get to go to the pyramid and beat Ganon! Yay! And I did without dying or needing a potion or falling off the battlefield. Turned the volume down cause the end music was pretty irritating. What can I say I hate the Zelda theme. Its loud and obnoxious. Credits finish rolling and then....nothing. I press alot of buttons but don't get taken back to the title screen so I just turn it off.

I dunno why but I just don't much like this game anymore. Link is slowwwww, the sword-beam attack is and many baddies get too many cheap shots. Can anyone tell me why wearing a cape that makes you invisible also make you able to walk on spikes o.O? What's the point of the blue wand? And why do I always miss the fourth bottle?? The controls are crap, inventory screen is crap as it is in every Zelda, and its all just plain unsatisfying. I'm not trying to hate or be hated butttt clearly I've lost what love I had for this game and I don't got a clue why!

what? LttP is brutally easy, has really boring enemies, a clumsy and tedious hodge-podge of overworlds with few puzzles, lame boss encounters (excluding King Helmasaur and the Turtle Rock boss), and small/simple dungeons.

It DOES have awesome dungeon music, though, and it did give us the style used by the vastly superior GBC Zeldae as well as the template for OoT.

I was tryin' to help you out! Constructive criticism!

Edit: Also, it's night time right now.

Once again, I'm finding myself MOSTLY in agreement with Drinky... I never liked LttP as much as Link's Awakening. The Oracle games are fun, although I still prefer LA over either one (mostly due to the STUPID STUPID RHYTHM GAMES).

Zelda: LttP also has one of the greatest video game "openings" ever IMO.

No stupid 20 minute cinematic, but the "dark & stormy night" with the castle coming under siege and Link having to go after his uncle is so cool and atmospheric.

You're thrown right into a massive adventure a few minutes in ... very cool.

LttP might be the best game ever created.
Just remember that it's Drinky and Lindsay attacking this game. Drinky will say anything to rile up Nintendrones and Lindsay prefers AC:GC to AC:WW.

No! This is the only old game I've gone back to and realized I hated it.

Why not o.o? I mean everything I say.

Though I don't know if the GBA version sucks compared to SNES LttP.

The SNES version has the same level of suckitude.

I'm sorry the haters enjoy bland enemies and boss battles and an obnoxious overworld. :(

Maybe I hate LttP because I've experienced 2d Zelda perfection with the Minish Cap o.o? Though I still like the first LoZ~

Ha ha. Still upset Wild World is a weak rehash and not a real sequel? And I'm being lumped in with Drinky now? O.o Hey guys remember I like the Gamecube! Not that I mind!

I was thrown right into an even more massive adventure by way of starting like halfway through the game and I hated it~

Rehash or not, it still has a lot more than AC:GC and everything that was tedious in AC:GC is now easier to do.

But it's still tedious correct? Sorta like LttP is. :)

I find the Oracle games to be poorly designed and tedious, not ALTTP. ALTTP had such an open and unique overworld where everything in the Oracle titles blended together causing it to look like every other top down adventure ever made.

Oh, and AC:WW is great.

I never played the Oracles before so I wouldn't know but LttP's overworld (both of them) are a big pain in the butt to traverse even when you got all the items.

Duck + Pegasus = easy travel

There is no duck in the dark world except at the very end when it takes you to the pyramid which is BS. If duck can be used then why couldn't it be used the rest of the game!?

Duck -> Portal -> Boots
Come on!

I had to let ALTTP go as well. I purchased it for the GBA at under $20 at Target for some advertised sale one Christmas, but traded it away with Metroid Zero Mission for Fatal Frame I and II on PS2 IIRC. I purchased Zero Mission again eventually, but left ALTTP alone. I enjoyed Four Swords a lot, but there's the Gamecube Four Swords Adventures for that.

ALTTP and Lunar are two games that made me realize that I can't deal with retrogaming in the Adventure/RPG genre. (Action games from the 16-bit era don't fall out of my favor as easily for whatever reason.) I think Nocturne in the Moonlight is as far back as I can go at this point, but I haven't put too much thought into it since I've purchased so many games between this generation of consoles.

I'm just going to have to deal with ALTTP being godly only in my childhood memories and try not to drag it needlessly into the present, kicking and screaming.

I bought a SNES today with LttP.

I haven't played it for bout 13 years.

It's time to see if you're right or not.

Never played too far into the Oracle games, but LttP has a better story.

yeah, saving those 7 princesses was really original and clever

in any case I prefer the one with the better gameplay and dungeons and puzzles

if you play zelda games for the story you're even stupider than most JRPGs fans since every zelda game has the exact same story

Eh, the only Zeldas with an interesting story were the Aonuma ones, LA, and OoT.

What are you talking about? Sometimes Link has a different musical instrument!

There's more to a Zelda game than "lol save the purrincess hurr".

laffo

I'm glad that the Link's Awakening fans are making a comeback -- it's one of my favorites :).

Though I liked both Link's Awakening and LttP a lot more than the Oracles games, to be honest.

true, sometimes you get the bow and arrow in the 1st dungeon and sometimes you get it in the 5th. also the boomerang may be different.
