Zombi U pics + footage

Graphics and lightning looks pretty good. FPS seems rather low, but that could be just Youtube.

If this game has a difficulty setting like Kid Icarus:Uprising, it could be the Zombie survival horror of forever.

Eh. Kid Icarus' difficulty system works because it's an arcade game at heart. You set a difficulty and go in knowing the risk, hoping it is outweighed by the rewards. Survival horror is more about the absolute unknown. Challenge comes not from shaping the experience to suit your skill level, but conquering obstacles you didn't expect.

Since you spawn as a new character whenever you die, has there been any info on how much variety there is in the random character generation?

From the gameplay demos when you respawn, the new character age, name, and occupation is shown and its a completely different person. I've seen male, female, old man, white man, black man so far.

This game is looking very good, ready to see some new stages now.

That same shot is in the video posted and it looks basically the same (there were no zombies though) so that was mighty impressive. The first image of the OP is obviiusly concept art (its also states it in the image name.

I'm just glad to hear about the dynamic level design. Should go a long ways in keeping the game replayable compared to something like Doom 3. Would be amazing if we could get even 2 player co op aside from that zombie capture the flag mode

They only thing that looks bad is the fact that the character tends to interact with the world magically. You open a door and it just pops open without anything touching it. You see an item and go to pick it up, then it just disappears without a hand or something grabbing it. I know a lot of first person games do that, but it looks cheap as hell in all of then, including here. Everything else looks so good, so it just amplifies the issue. Still hyped, but damn...

The stomp sound effect needs more pop to it as well. Dead Space got it right.

I don't like the idea of the leaderboards recording how many times you died in a mission, personally.

If leaderboards were just about how long you survived, I think it would be great, shit could start hitting the fan in larger amounts as time goes on, more zombies could spawn, the power would eventually go out, your flashlight batteries would run out, etc.

Throw in some co-op and you have a very replayable game from where I'm standing.

Atleast as some sort of seperate mode if such a thing wouldn't gel with the story in this game (and I like the respawn method in this game so I wouldn't want to see that axed solely in favour of perma-permadeath).

after seeing the video and jumping off my chair yelling "Fuck Me!"

this is not my type of game not buying it

but Ubisoft is doing a decent job with it

The game has an ending though. There is only so long you can stay alive until you beat it and it ends on it's own.

...except we've got HD video of the game that looks as good as those shots in the OP

Yeah...not really.

But since we are talking about the "Revolution" right now, did Nintendo already explain how going back to dual stick shooters is a progress?

EDIT:

LOLZ, just saw the GIF. OK, it's definitly no second red steel fiasko. You won.

The Wii U does more than just a standard dual analog controller ever could. It's not a good comparison.

One bite death is going to constantly have me tense as fuck the entire time.
Only time I ever felt this level of tension was in Heavy Rain, knowing that once my characters were dead, that's it. No reloading, no nothing. I almost had a damned heart attack in certain encounters in that game. If Zombi U could deliver half of that, It'd be the only survival horror game to totally unnerve me

I had originally written this game off when it was first announced, but the more I see of it, the more interested I become. I just hope it turns out to be a decent length.

Not really changing topics, I just noticed in the vids how the guy moved etc. and then it came to my mind again. How are they trying to sell that? I know they told us you can still use the Wiimote+, but then you can't use the new WiiU Gamepad, which is baiscally the selling point of the WiiU...so...I think that situation is pretty weird. They basically recalled their own "revolution" and went back to a input which is according to the nintendo of the past 6 years is the "definite" control scheme.

How do they want to get out of it? I think that's probably new thread worthy. Or did we have this this thread already?

Exactly, the character won't be as disposable as in previous Zombie titles I've played. Gotta tread carefully with this one, and I like it - it'll make the game tenser, more frightening and full of suspense.
The only game I've ever felt that in was Dark Souls. Death really means something in there as well. This is such a good thing.

Well Steel a Battalion as well. The game was literally over completely if you died lol

I'm really hoping twin stick aiming isn't the only option. IR aiming or touchscreen aiming both seem like better options. (Well, actually touchscreen aiming might be a bit tricky, but should be doable)

Holy crap, mighty impressed. An amazing survival horror vibe especially with the bag pack scavenging. The impact, viscerality and tension is deep. Sad its not Wiimote compatible(Im terrible at dual analog FPS), but I'll deal anyways...

Edit: wait, there is IR aiming?

Wiimote aiming is MUCH better, but this game is so much slower I don't think it will matter. The precision might not be needed, although that will never take away from the fact that it's inferior as far as aiming goes.

Here's a developer demo from E3 that I just ran into. Shows the same levels as the comic con footage, but a bit more extensive and with developer commentary. Has some interesting info, such as that the game will have a Demon's Soul like message system.

Wow. Talk about an idea that needed to be jacked. This gets better and better.

There's no difficulty setting but after beating the game you unlock nightmare mode where you only get one survivor so just one life.
Fuck
