You know what would be awesome? If at the end of the Direct, Reggie comes on to say
"But before you leave, we want you to step into one more world for the Nintendo Wii U. . ."
*footage of a massive field that is absolutely stunning. No music, we just hear the tweets of birds and the sound of running water coming from a river that is running through the field. Then the peaceful tone changes to an ominous one as evil creatures rise from the ground. You then hear the faint sound of galloping. The monsters hear it too. Could it be..?!
We now see a figure riding a horse through a forest setting, but it's too fast too to make out any distinct details. The figure exits the woods and enters the vast field at lightning speed, but the glare from the fiery sun that is setting in the distance turns the horse rider into a black silhouette.
The army of monsters spot him, and ready their weapons, but before any bombs are thrown or arrows are fired, the rider draws his sword, which glows with a brilliant golden light and reveals a teenage boy with point ears, donning a green tunic.
At this second, the camera zooms into Link's face as he cracks a smile, and the epic
Riders of Doom song plays. This is followed by the most incredible gameplay footage of Link destroying this army of monsters that range from massive Moblins, Dodongos, as well as Tektites, Octorocks and Stalfos. While we see Link massacring what we can assume are Ganon's goons, we see quick flashes of dungeon and exploration gameplay.
The trailer ends with an overhead shot of Link sheathing his sword with the corpses of monsters all around him. They all POOF. The camera zooms into Link and we seem him wipe the sweat from his forehead and he breathes a sigh of relief. That is, until he hears a cry for help in the distance. As he turns to the voice, the camera very quickly travels across the field in first person until it reaches the window of Hyrule Castle. It's Princess Zelda. Her hand is pressed against the window, and we see a gloomy figure behind her who begins to laugh manically.
The screen fades to black and we see the Hylian Shield appear, and the Master Sword to follow as the blade slides in behind the shield. The title appears in front of the sword and shield--"The Legend of Zelda." The music and logo fade, and we hear galloping.
After the trailer, Miyamoto appears dressed as Link, and Aonuma is Princess Zelda. "We hope you enjoy the best Zelda ever when it comes to Wii U this Holiday" they both sing in harmony before flying out of the frame. Reggie runs out in a Ganondorf get up "Hey, guys! You forgot me!" Iwata appears to tell Reggie to "please understand," then he turns to the camera, winks, and flies off screen, leaving Reggie alone. "I guess my body wasn't ready."
