Nintendo Direct Feb 13, 2014 Thread | 3DS/Wii U Spring games

So we're going to have X, SSB4 and Bayonetta 2 shown today yet this Direct is said to be "focusing on WiiU & 3DS games coming by the end of spring". Curious.

Nintendo Directs are the best thing to happen to Neogaf forever. The hype, the unexpectedness, the excitement, the passion.

I can't believe someone actually has the minutes of all the directs!

Indeed. Nintendo Directs are a great thing that Nintendo started. It adds a sense of kinship between Nintendo and the consumer, cutting out the gaming media middleman.

Plus, after it, all the press assets are released making it no different to how other developers/publishers release things.

I really don't get why people say they should be stopped.

GBA VC, DS VC, Dragon Quest VII 3DS, Bayonetta 2 release date, new Metroid for 3DS, new info on Zelda Wii U, new Punch Out for 3DS, and release dates for Ace Attorney VS Layton!

I'm not asking for too much, right?!

Do you know what this means? This means that the 41 minute-long Direct may be the LONGEST NINTENDO DIRECT NINTENDO HAS EVER DONE.

I do hope they show off new Wii U products. Looks pretty slim pickings right now. 3DS seems fine, they just need dates for some of their more recent releases like Kirby.

And I know they're going to spend time putting us all asleep with footage from Yoshi's New Island...):

they did say something about a recent breakthrough with regard to VC development, so I don't think it's unreasonable to get news on that front on Wii U

I'm not even talking about that. I'm just referring to the effect it has on neogaf. Almost every one of these is hyped up to at least 70% of E3 level conference threads. Love it.

I wanted to approach this ND as cautious as possible, but y'all ain't making it easy on me. Guess I might as well buy a ticket and enter the train with you

The really question is if anything is releasing in April for the Wii U.

Hopefully Bayo 1.

May is MK8.

This direct must mean something is coming in June aswell. Now that is really going to be interesting. I would love to see X or SSB come in June, though 99.99% unlikely.

What sort of things are still hugely successful from Nintendo and could help them over this hump? There's Pokemon, and they did just officially show the next event Legendary, what if it comes with a batch of DLC for the games to replace the old cycle of releasing an improved version of the main releases?

Also StreetPass and all the extra Plaza games are highly successful in Japan, another batch of those being released very soon out of the blue is not outlandish to expect at all. And for you homebodies and folks living in less densely populated parts of the world, a brand new firmware update will turn your Wii U console into a Nintendo Zone hotspot, distributing daily StreetPasses from Wii U owners across the region/world to your 3DS. And have some sort of Miiverse integration in there too.

As a follow up to a lot of what was said back at the financial meeting, there will be talk of DS games on VC, and probably announce a Miiverse and Nintendo eShop official iOS/Android apps.

That wouldn't really be logical. They'd get less revenue from that.

Plus, Diancie is in the game already. Also, Masuda is firmly against paid DLC for main Pokémon games.

Come on "Jam With The Band - Power Producer" for the USA.

Also, I'd like a Bravely Second trailer in the Japanese one.

And.. can we get Super Mario Bros. 3 in North America Virtual Console already? I mean seriously...

By the way, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Virtual Boy are things, there are a few games on both of those that would really awesome on the 3DS Virtual console. Just saying.

I want a release date for Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, please.

Oh! And Majora's Mask 3DS is totally going to happen, right?

I would definitely buy a Wii U version of Bayonetta for $20-$40. I have the Xbox version but I'd love an improved version (if the Wii U is even capable).

Yoshi's New Island comes out in a month. It's getting 4-5 minutes. Probably a new gameplay trailer showing off some newly announced gameplay thing or something. I can't even imagine they will say "Yeah here's Yoshi's Island. It plays exactly like the other two!" and that's it.

We'll find out at 5 PM EST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?!!??!???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!?!??!?!?!???!!!!

I HATE YOU :D

btw, I'm really interested in seeing firm dates for some of the already announced games, both for 3DS and Wii U, so hopefully I'll not be disappointed

realistically, we should expect a considerable amount of time devoted to Tomodachi Collection's Western release.

Minutes 1-25 - Tomodachi Collection will come out in the West in Spring 2014.

Minute 26 - X is coming out sometime

Minute 27 - Bayonetta is coming out sometime

Minute 28 - Smash Bros. is coming out sometime

Minutes 29-41 - Please understand.

Seriously, anyone not expecting a large amount of time dedicated to Tomodachi Collection is setting themselves up for disappointment. Nintendo have taken their sweet time localizing this one, and I imagine they have big expectations from it.
