X looked terrible. Shoot shoot shoot press B, shoot shoot B...
So that's it. I could care less about Bayonetta 2.
X, Little Mac, and David Wise's music was worth it, so I'm satisfied.
Remember guys:
1) This Direct is later than usual
2) Bayonetta 2 will most likely be shown (two retweets from Platinum Games executives, only project they're working on with Nintendo is Bayonetta 2 and they don't usually retweet Directs)
3) X will most likely be shown (Soraya Saga, the wife of key Monolith Soft director Tetsuya Takahashi, only retweets when X will be shown, and she retweeted this Direct)
4) There will most likely be a new character reveal for Smash Bros. (Sakurai retweeted the Direct, and usually when Sakurai retweets an upcoming Direct, a new character will be announced)
It definitely seems like this Direct is more hardcore than usual.
This sounds like a retread of GAF wishes / speculation. Looks like whoever wrote that reads GAF.
But unlike Platinum Games, Monolith Soft, and Sora Ltd., Next Level Games clarified that they were just retweeting because they wanted to spread the word...so it fundamentally diminishes their chances at showing something new this Direct.
Meanwhile, Bayonetta 2, X, and Smash Bros. all have real chances at showing up.
If the emphasis is on Spring games, we know the following games are in the Spring release window:
- Mario Golf
- Yoshi's New Island
- Layton 6
- Disney Magical Castle
- Mario Kart 8
- Sonic Lost World Yoshi DLC
- the remaining sports of Wii Sports U
And we might also expect some followup on:
- DKC:TF
- Bravely Default
- Wii Fit U
Then we have a bunch of 2014 games that probably won't make sprint but that could be covered:
- Layton vs Phoenix Wright
- Smash Bros
- Bayonetta 2
- DLC for previously released games
And some unlocalized JPN games likely to come over:
- Fossil Fighters 3DS
- Maybe Tomodatchi Collection 3DS
This is my way of saying that I don't seriously expect too much in the way of new game announcements because it'd be pretty easy to fill this length of time with stuff that's a known quantity and closer to the title of the presentation, which emphasizes Spring 2014 games.
Yup, I expect whatever little new stuff we get will be near the end with Wii U games (X, Bayonetta 2) and stuff that might be announced for Japan.
