It is possible that GAF doesn't accurately represent the world's opinion, especially in Japan.

They have the data on the XIV Lightning quest, sales, marketing, official polls, merchandising, DLC sales, focus testing. Most of the people regularly complaining about Lightning on here like she killed their parents amount to probably less than 20 people.

People can argue she is popular or not, but if you are using this poll as evidence, then you are objectively wrong.

You can argue whether or not she is popular, you can't argue that there is a decent fanbase for her amongst Japanese FF fans. Note I said fans, not every player/person in Japan.

That said, I don't really care/mind if she's in that game. The Kingdom Hearts series is a mishmash of various FF/Disney characters, so she'd kind of fit in there. Just don't let her infect any other mainline Final Fantasy games, please.

I followed the links back to the facebook page, so if that is not related to the poll, then that is my bad. However, a poll conducted among active members of a fan forum would suffer from the aforementioned problems even more severely than would a Facebook poll.

I agree that there is clearly a fanbase for Lightning in Japan, and certainly there are many fans elsewhere, but my point is only that this kind of "polling" is not evidence of relative popularity in any region.

If she retains her powers from XIII-2 or LR, she's basically able to traverse time, space and all dimensions like Gilgamesh. If they take Lightning after the ending of LR, there's definitely a game coming up she would fit in for a cameo. If they just make a fun non-story related cameo they could put her in KH3 or Tactics 2, or Dissidia 3, or as a DLC fight or party member. Or she could just be a random NPC cameo, or a quest line like XIV. Or it could be costumes like they've done for X and LR. Lots of interesting options honestly.

It's just a side thing to do for fun. I'm all for it, for as many FF characters as possible.
