Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

The only complaint I do have is that it doesn't juggle the teams up. It's the same team every time. So when you get a team that is stomping you, you can expect it every time over and over.

Yeah.

For me it's not even that I can't do my thing against a good team. Most of the time, I do really well, but I get a couple of teammates who keep dying. So I keep losing, no matter how well I play. Game after game.

If the game would shuffle players, keeping them in their parties of course, in between rounds, it would improve the game a lot.

Holy shit this game is fun. Is it wierd that I rarely got into my Titan and spent most of the game just jumping around and wall running?

I love the overall movement and I can now kinda understand why they made the guns have little recoil.

I received my key earlier today and was really excited to try this tonight, but I'm unable to connect to a server. I guess I'll head to bed and try again in the morning.

From all of the impressions I am reading, I think I am REALLY going to enjoy this game.

Was able to play a match of Hardpoint and Attrition. I knew the game would be fast paced but didn't realize it would be this fast pace. It's like ordered chaos. So much is seemingly going on but at the same time I can somewhat follow things. Bringing down a Titan as a pilot is really satisfying. Especially if it saves a Titan on my side. Being able to jump and climb walls, etc certainly adds enough change to keep it knew and interesting.

Need to play a few more matches but I think I might be ordering this. However I'll just stick with the PC side and not bother with an Xbox One. It's fun so far but not "buy a new system" fun.

Just can't get back into the game now.

If anything this just sold me on the pc version. Runs great on my 7850, controller works fine, and can invite friends. No reason not to stick with pc here.

on Pc, the game runs poorly overall and isn't very pretty. It is fun though and intense. So far it might be the next cod, but it doesn't feel like the next Gears/Halo for me. I never loved cod like I loved them.

PC here. I can get into servers, but once I get into a match or even just the tutorial, I cannot see any buildings or objects... Not even the ground!

Anyone else have this issue, or know how to fix this?

I'm on US East.

I can get into the matchmaking servers and I can start a match.

But as soon as the match begins I very quickly get disconnected from the server ("Too Many Client Frames" or something). Or the whole beta itself crashes.

Is my internet connection the problem? Or is it the beta servers?

570 here, texture res on medium, everything else on high except for shadows / lighting and am getting 60 solid -____- but the texture res makes the game look like ass

I have a 570 as well, getting weird fluctuating frames as well :(e

Idk I still think 570 is pretty capable though and hopefully this is just a beta issue and it will get resolved with official support from Nvidia with the final release.

What driver version do you have installed?

Interestingly enough I actually like the AI bots. They provide necessary filler so that you can always be shooting at something or in some action. If they were too good then you'd be dying from every which way too fast and that wouldn't be fun at all.

So far this is very much like COD with Mechs to me...but that's not a bad thing at all

Wait you can kill regular pilots that way too? I never used it in competitive play, I thought there's no way they'd make it so simple. I know they said you could target pilots multiple times during tutorial, but I thought in practice you'd have to do it at least twice to get a kill...

That is ridiculous. Yet another quirk of another modern FPS game meant with the sole purpose apparently of making people with no skill feel better about themselves :/

It's not easy to hold a lock on people with how much movement you have in this game. Which is to say nothing that in a head to head you WILL get outgunned and flattened. It's good for getting the drop on people or for some cool wall running technique while maintaining a lock.

I took it for a whirl and had a lot of fun for the few games I used it, but I do way better with normal weapons. It isn't easy to do well with aside from picking off bots which amounts to little.

Yea, I like that the pilots are still competitive with the Titans going at it. The movement is just too damn fun.

And I doubt they'd have recoil for guns regardless of the movement. COD didn't have recoil either after COD2 unfortunately. With this game, it at least makes more sense thanks to the mobility.

This fucking game guys.

This game.

I just finished my first match after not being able to load servers all day. It was the craziest, most fun FPS I have ever played. Jesus. I will be spending a lot of time with this game.

There's a problem with AA on certain cards at the moment; try disabling AA and see if that fixes you. Please PM me if it does or doesn't, any data helps.

Yeah no doubt a part of the reason is to make the game more accessible but I do feel that the no recoil fits in well given the overall movement available in the game.

I also can kinda see why they limited the numbers to 6 vs 6 and filled the numbers in with grunts. It sounds weird but I think it's possible the action would have been too frenetic with higher player counts. The balance seems perfect atm.

I got the glitch where the model textures are stretched across the map, and it looks like a Plastic Man/Mr. Fantastic/Elongated Man gangbang. The only suggestions so far is to turn all the settings down/off, turn off SLI and update your drivers. I can't get back into the game to test if it works.

Want to repeat that running in windowed mode fixed most of the stuttering for me on a 660. If you restart the client you get full screen windowed too.

I gave up trying to connect to east coast server and connected immediately with europe.. and after spending seems like forever in the training, finally played a game... and hooooly fuck, can't believe how fast it plays.. pretty sweet, gonna take some getting used to. will play more tomorrow..

Damn... this game is so fun. Loving it.

Yep. Playing on PC and it's really fun.

Definitely--I have a feeling i'll be doing that quite a bit, Titan on Auto pilot for a hot sec, run n gun as Pilot.
I can see a few more game modes too.

Huh. They actually managed to make a game that feels faster and more frantic than Call of Duty, yet feels very different from COD, mostly in terms of movement. Things like auto-strafe and the emphasis on verticality make Titanfall philosophically more in-line with old PC shooters. It's probably going to be something console gamers aren't used to. Respawn has really nailed that quick gratification gameplay that made COD popular, but in a surprisingly fresh way. This might actually be the first major 8th gen game depending on how many people decide to stick with the Xbox 360 version.

That said, I'm not sure if this is really the game for me. I'm slowly starting to realize I'm not as into fast-paced multiplayer shooters as much as everyone else seems to be.

Just got my code, sadly I can't use it cause I went home for the weekend to hang out with my brother whose girlfriend couldn't fly down. Luckily, I gave it to him and we're downloading it now. :) At 5MB/s, pretty good for a 6mb connection haha...Might be related to the internet issues we've been having tonight...but I'm not complaining. :P

Just played a round and a half before my pc crashed.

Yeah, I'm sold on this now, was nothing but fun the whole way. Even for 6v6 it still seems to hold up a nice pace. The hype seems to be mostly justified, even though I've only played one role/titan so far.
30 minutes flew by like nothing :D

Quite a bit of lag going on when things get going, but with the game using nearly 4gb ( of my 4gb) of vram... its to be expected. Along with other things.

Hahaha, me and a rival pilot both ejected our titans at the same time. It was so crazy seeing somebody else shoot up to that height with you. I was trying to aim and shoot him the whole time.

I'm really getting into this game. The checkpoint mode is my jam right now.

Damn what the fuck? My video is ass right now. In the initial training pod all I see is black and some smoke, and I can't look at any of the lights. In a match all of the character and gun models are invisible and other models are stretched like crazy. This is lame.

Had this same thing happen to me. We landed in a quiet street and had a shootout but neither landed a kill. I retreated and cloaked, then hundred them down. They shot at a Titan, gave away their position and I took them out.

Jesus, what resolution are you playing on? This game runs way over 60 with everything cranked on my 2gb GTX 680 at 1080.

This fucking game man. I told myself that I wouldn't get the game because of no local servers (getting about 150 ping in Beta) but I'm getting dangerously close to breaking that stance. Soooo good.

I'll go ahead and agree that this game is damn fun, and the hype didn't let me down. Unfortunately, I wish the engine was different. I love source, but I can't help thinking what this game could be with a more current engine with better features. Same feeling I get when playing an Elder Scrolls game or Fallout.

It's a pretty good looking game. Don't know why the complaints say otherwise. But hey, it is what it is. Pretty fun though I'm waiting to see if my friends will pick this up or not.
