Titanfall Beta (PC/Xbone) Impressions (No Key Begging/Trading or I will ban you!)

Please inform me on how many maps/guns/abilities/modes the game ships with.

I have no idea, I've also been told is a sane mental exercise not to judge base on assumptions. So I'll be waiting for the release date to judge if content is lacking. One thing I can say after playing it thou, game is fun.. I like to pay for fun games, regardless of meaningless bullet point features.

Lets discuss about the uncertainty of thin air guys, that sure is gonna take us places.

The beta sold me on this game on the xbox one. Loving the fast paced action, and how you can actually dominate a game lone wolf style if you need too. Currently my friends are still awaiting the beta codes, so I have to go at it alone and been handling myself well.

I hope they lower the range of the shotgun though. Not much, but just a little.

Oh well, my wife is due on March 30th. We found out today the dating could be wrong, and it she may be a week or two ahead of what was initially recorded 5 weeks in (evidently they date babies by size, and our baby is small, so they are thinking its incorrect, especially with a test she had today during it she was having contractions, but enough rambling) My whole point of posting that was that this is probably all im going to experience of the game. Ill try to get out and buy it, but who knows if ill get time to play. Enjoy

Also,

I'm enjoy the Titans alot (Pretty much got the hang of it) but I would also enjoy an infantry -players only mode.

The gun play is too good to pass this up. With jet packs and what not, it'd be great.

Something I hope they do...

Since Titanfall is supposed to be this mix of SP stuff within a MP shell, I hope that any DLC maps are in sets which comprise of episodes of a story. Say having 3 themed maps together, along with the story links, VO's etc. These could be an extension of the current story (whatever it ends up being) or some branching stuff to explain other things or flesh out the lore.

Thoughts?

Ok so I had trouble registering for the beta so I emailed EA and they sent me a code and then shortly after I got two in my email. A gaffer was nice enough to give me one earlier before I got these, so the first 3 to PM me will get an Xbone code.

Rat rat rat rat rat :D

I can't say that I share any of the issues of not being able to clearly discern the difference between Pilots and AIs.

I can usually tell what is a pilot vs. AI as well but that's because I'm using my minimap a lot. I don't think I've had a game yet where I had more AI kills than pilot kills. I usually get very few AI kills because I'm usually looking for pilots.

I love how long you can stay alive just by being cautious. I've had tons of games with only 1 death.

how long I stay alive is directly proportional to how fast I get my titan at the start

I'm just so much better at titan vs titan than I am on foot, although I do enjoy my shotgun.

Really enjoying the beta (Xbox). I prefer the smaller city map, but the other map is really good for Titan battles. Gunplay and running, ooooh the running, are both silky smooth. I don't want burn myself out before the retail release but damn I can't wait until March.

How's the Sniper Rifle?

I'm not using it because the assault rifle feels quite right.

Also, the 40mm Canon is the best Titan weapon.

I dont see the point of it in the beta with what I have unlocked but I am sure it has its uses. The regular weapons have such high accuracy at a long range. I have even been capped by a SMG (which they specifically state is a short range weapon) while in the air from halfway across the map. Watching some of my death cams I am sitting there saying wtf more often then not. I am terrible at the game no doubt but things like this are just frustration to me.

Been playing the beta on PC thanks to a gaffer who kindly pm'd me a code. Rather enjoying it, which is a lot coming from someone who generally hates shooters. Love that mechs are individual and it isn't a fight for who gets the vehicle like in Halo/Battlefield(possibly others, I don't play many MP shooters). I think it benefits from a smaller player count too, I can see it being really fun getting a few friends together to play it.

I don't know what it is about this game, but I just can't get interested in it. When it was first revealed and everyone kept talking about it for the next year, I saw screenshots, but didn't look too much into it. Now that gameplay videos are out, my flatmates and other friends are all very excited and told me to have a look. I did, and I have to say, I'm even less interested than before. I really can't say why, it looks like a good game and obviously the hype is huge for a reason...

I guess it's just not for me.

Is the constant cycling at the connecting screen where it's "retrieving matchmaking list" forever a known issue on xbone? Any workaround? Just keep waiting?

Nobody has to worry about using a controller in this game. Auto aim doesn't matter when the majority of people are so incredibly dumb. Campers at spawn, people out in the open, I can challenge and win against msg users with the mmanual shooting of the smart gun.

It's scary dudes.

I am liking the beta but not loving it.
+ parkour fastpaced movement.
+levels and unlocks dont make the game dibalanced.
+ perfect balance between onfoot and titans

- No recoil. Like literally zero
- stupid ai bots which add nothing to the game play stupid distraction coming in the way of objective
- literally zero team play required. Every body can be a loan wolf

I think all of your negatives are great for new players though. The bots are stupid. They don't do much against the more experienced players but less experienced players have something they can shoot and gain points and more importantly confidence. This keeps players playing the game. These players feel like they're contributing (especially in attrition), and they are just not as much as the more experienced players when it comes to points.

Two things that really annoy me, the stupid stupid lame dumb smart pistol. I've had so many 'wtf' moments after meleeing a guy two or three times only to have them jump off a wall and SP me and instantly kill me.

The other is this game seems to suffer from the CoD 'bullshit' kills. Where (like above) on your screen you load 5-6 headshots into a guy from point blank range and they either don't get a shot off or maybe get one back (a second or two after you start on them) and somehow you die. Only later to look at the kill cam and the scenario plays out completely different. Which brings me to another issue...

Why is it that in these games the guy with the 150-300 ping has an advantage over everyone else? Several times I had situations like above, only to look and see the guy that somehow pulled the miracle kill has a ping of 3-4x mine. I had one guy I hit with quite literally an entire magazine the starter assault rifle, with hit indicators on all shots only to have him turn and shoot me dead instantly (after he realizes he's being shot). It's really irritating.

Aside from that bullshitery the game itself is really a blast. I'd love to see some more maps though.

Got my 1st titan drop titan kill, it was so good.

My team mate was taking a real punishing and I was cloaked on a building, the enemy came around the corner for the finish and I dropped my titan strait onto him - smooth it was, SMOOTH!.

^
I put up a clip of me shooting someone with the sniper multiple times and nothing.

These kind of interactions really get frustrating. But like most games, when it works out feels soo good.

This game is really fun, like cod4 levels of fun. Though I get pretty weird performance sometimes, like lookong at certain direction my fps plummets even if there isn't anything there. Also I don't like that there isn't a server browser, trying to connect to west Europe server seems to take forever and it has better ping than north EU server to which I can connect immediately.

So much this... i ran into a guy with shit ping and he completely dominated 4-5 games in a row before i couldn't take it anymore and left the game.

Has any site come out with a graphics settings guide for which settings tax your system the most? I know this will likely chance with the final release and new GPU drivers but I was just interested.

That poor guy's 523 ping!

So looking at this screenshot and many others it seems that you don't really get many real player kills.

How long do matches tend to last?

They're pretty short. Titan fights also last a good bit which is why I think the numbers seem lower on average, but you can still pull out good numbers. My best game was 12 pilots, 5 titans, 14 grunts and 1 death. I was constantly fighting stuff and I'm pretty sure those bots were just splash damage as I don't focus on them at all.

It's really not a hugely pretty game, which is fine, but I don't understand why people who have a 360 would want to get an xbone for this given that it's not really a technical showcase.

Played a couple of rounds of Attrition. Positive impressions so far. Was getting better the more I played it. Was a bit weird at first. Like sensory overload. Need to improve my Titan combat skills.

No problem, maybe it's the same issue with the people here running a 650/750m but reporting stuttering.

Usually Steam allocates the right GPU, but it doesn't look as though that's the case with Origin (TellTale as well I've found) so could be worth checking those games again.

Yeah, this was my first time using Origin, I don't recall having issues like this with Steam. Like every game I have there runs fine enough.

Well, I guess that's because nobody knows what the 360 version is like, yet.

Zampella has stated the game will have "key differences", and I bet they will be more than just graphics.

Its coming 2 weeks later and though it's being handled by Bluepoint, we have no idea what it looks like or how it performs.

I like saving my Titan for when i'm rodeoing an enemy Titan. Then I call it down and hope it lands right on the Titan I'm rodeoing.
