If I hadn't been already watching this show, your descriptions of it would have me sold.
Best part is, it doesn't even matter. Hell, it's actually a pretty good jump-off point into normal Gundam series since you'll be familiar with some of the models.

You miss alot of references with it being your first Gundam show, but if you don't ever plan on watching anything else Gundam it probably wont matter much to you
Yea there are a ton of in jokes, Gundam specific terms and homages to previous Gundams. You don't need to see every Gundam but seeing a couple would ease you into it better.
However, the characters general enthusiasm for their hobby sucks you in and you want to be part of that excitement. I bet Gunpla sales are going to quadruple now because of this show. Its a solid first Gundam, just know that a standard Gundam show is nothing like this. Its the most similar to G Gundam minus the blatant rascism and more kid friendly.

That's pretty cool. Can you go into the Instant Kill mode right at the start? Or do you need full meter?

Can you combo into them? That seems pretty strong if so but I've never seen an IK used before in any of the GG tournament streams I've watched.

regarding IK's in guilty, you'll see them relatively often against aba because once her moroha meter has been emptied (through time spent or getting knocked down) she is left in a vulnerable state for a pretty long period. lot of chars just wanna knock aba down 3 times and then IK her.

What do you mean, "someone?" Obviously it's a job for call_kotaku.
There's actually a new thing with instant kills in Xrd: In GGXrd, when your health is low, besides Guts activating (like previous games), you also enter "Hell Fire" mode, where your super moves are stronger. It's a small comeback mechanic, but making supers more useful is kind of neat, since meter is otherwise usually used for blocking and Roman Cancels. However, if your opponent is in Hell Fire mode, and you have at least 50 meter, entering IK mode will have a super-freeze, allowing you to combo into an IK.
You can see Faust attempt this here in this video from Jaepo, though it fails because the IK starter doesn't reach the opponent after a throw.
It doesn't seem too BS, since the opponent has to be pretty low on health anyway for it to work. So we get to see some more ANIMEEEEEEEEEEE

for all that care, you can actually watch gundam build fighters on youtube. go to the gundaminfo channel. they have all the episodes subbed. it's the official gundam channel so quality is good

This is pretty neat. Messed with the first one at some point when I was fiddling around with doujin and poverty games. Really surprised to see it getting a follow up, have no idea how popular it is.

Ah cool, good to see Sega putting some work in on bringing out more fighters. If Alien Isolation works out for them combined with the Atlus acquisition they could be looking at a very profitable future.
Build Fighters is fantastic, check it out. No prior knowledge required. Fun references for old fans but that's minor stuff.
Interesting for FGC people because the setting is a world where fighting games are a big, popular spectator sport.
