You won't be as invested, and the climactic evolution will be less fun! But it's still pretty exciting, and beautifully animated.

My only major gripe about the slider is that when one side becomes dead set on something? It just results in no progress being made. Only a stupid arm wrestling match with both sides hoping to get their way or spite the other side, which often results in little to no movement or progress.

It's always looked like three pieces of wood bolted together into something vaguely bird-shaped to me.

A lot of the spritework seems like it's just really early assets that they never changed to fit in with the style the game actually ended up using. I'm not sure if that technically makes them off-model.

A bunch of evolutionary families seem to have been basically ret-conned into being related at all. Rhydon and Rhyhorn aren't twelve spots apart in the internal ordering and then suddenly after internal ID #52 everything is in basically the right order with evolutions coming after basic forms.

It's amazing how consistent Psyduck's design has been since the very first game. Some Pokemon received almost unrecognizable redesigns with Yellow, but there his is still confused as ever in Green.

He faces straight to the right because apparently they had no standard for in what direction they were supposed to face when they designed Gengar's back sprite.
