If we're having to go to easy mode even for battling that kinda ruins the fun for me. This is definitely doable and you can slowly work towards the goal (unlike some spots where each failure gets you no closer to success).

IIRC, the trigger for entering Silph Co. is freeing Mr. Fuji, not beating Giovanni.
