Mostly because of the 20-40 second delay from what happens on screen to chats reactions.

That doesn't make any sense. We'd been in that fight for like 20 minutes. There should have been a wall of a's. People were still typing right. There's no reason to ever type right.

Seems like people are a bit tired of this tower, even trolls. Democracy is actually in great progression.

EDIT : Nevermind, Anarchy here we go...

It's not "skill based gameplay," but it is acknowledging and accepting the handicap and trying to overcome it, rather than trying to shortcut it. That's where the microtransaction/pay2win comparison comes from.

And it's a poor comparison.

Getting fly seems like a terrible idea as we will inevitably use it to warp ourself to the other side of the map with no easy way to get back. Probably many times.

An odd little thing has struck me: We've been told this is a hack that makes all 151 monsters acquirable, and I recall seeing '151' on the title screen when the Reset O' Doom happened...

...but I haven't seen much evidence for the hack being there in-game. Has anyone seen a wild Bellsprout or Meowth? Sandshrew or Vulpix?

I wouldn't try to get Fly until all the tasks in Eastern Kanto are completed: Defeating Koga and Sabrina, and getting Surf and Strength. When that is done the rest of the things that must be done occur in places relatively near to Pallet Town so it's less problematic to use it. But even then I can imagine the chat using Fly in the zone between Victory Road and the League so they better never get it to save us some nasty surprises.

I've had trouble finding information about this hack... all of the usual hack websites pull up no such patch. I've seen a few places mention it, but never what's actually different/how to acquire them.

Someone earlier in the thread said they found something and that all of the extra pokemon are in the pokemon mansion... but take that with a grain of salt.

So when you type an input into the chat, you're actually selecting the input for something 20-30 seconds into the future that we can't even see?

because of twitch lag? Essentially yes. Democratic mode "fixes" this by introducing a super long delay before a move is voted on... but Democratic mode is the mode of the deceiver.

I'm not sure but I think they don't appear in the wild you can only get them through trades with NPCs the creator put in the world

For a while I've been watching how this stream and its fans are all attached to the team, giving its members affectionate nicknames and praising them/berating them. It just clicked for me now that this is the same effect that hit us as first-time players, or the popular nuzlocke comics subgenre. The only difference is that since everyone is sharing this exact same experience, the effect is magnified thousandfold.

In retrospect, I can't think of a better game for this sort of experiment. Even other turn-based RPGs couldn't replicate this to its full effect unless they were effectively Poke-clones.

Assuming no democracy intervention, fly can add DAYS to a play through with one bad fly

I'm wondering how were gonna do the rock puzzles with anarchy. This is why we need democracy as a last resort

It's not gonna be completed without democracy, or it's very unlikely. Odds are the stream will plummet in popularity, and therefore players, until it's a few hundred or thousand people left. And they will have much greater control over Red.

Did you see this?

There was a rumor that this is the base ROM and that the creator of the stream edited it some (definitely took the difficulty spike out)

This would be rather unnecessary... Why take a hack that puts the extra pokemon and then hack it again? It'd be easier to just manually add those pokemon to different regions if that were your goal... But I'll take a look and do some comparison with the stream videos.

So what's happened since the Hitmonlee incident? Just stuck in the tower dying to Ghastly?

defeated a bunch of trainers. Got to the healing pad.

Keeper used Psychic to great effect and then leveled up and replaced it with headbutt

PidgGog got re-named to AAA Based Jesus.

DigRat evolved into other Digrat.

Edit - Also, swapped out Zubat for Rick Gastley
