I didn't have to install anything when i turned my xbox on after the last major update. It went straight to the dash and let me play my game. Interesting though.

It installs automatically once the console is on, you see a very quick green bar and it's done... But the main issue is that after downloading the console would enter into power off mode (and not sleep) until the next power on... Now (supposedly) the console would be kept sleeping the whole time.

So I signed up and everything, I'm guessing it hasn't been rolled out yet but I am trying to get to the bottom of something here...

I was playing Thief for a while today and I went eject the disc and pop PvZ in and the disc wouldn't feed into the One. If I force it all the way in, it will get stuck, the mechanism that pulls in the discs isn't working.

And now after I sign in, half the UI is constantly loading on the dash and will not show the pins or the marketplace section at all. Weird coincidence? Or did they just fry my system? Hahaha

Just got the update. Twitch stuff doesn't appear to be in yet. There's no update for the app. The audio settings may have changed. I'm not all that familiar with them so I'm not sure if this is new. Both HDMI audio and Optical audio include an option for "Bitstream out" with a separate option for the Bitstream format (can be either DTS Digital Surround or Dolby Digital).

The new cycling notifications on the Friends tile on the left side of the Home screen are neat. It cycles between "friends online," "favorites online," and "broadcasting."

I think so. I don't have any way of testing it though.

It messed up my matchmaking in the Beta state, so I had to turn it off, hopefully they solved that.

MS is clever with those beta test, just like they did with TitanFall.
Nice for people who care about these kind of things, and a good way to make some buzz.
Xbox division is really good so far with the way they handle things.

Hopefully that means they corrected some of the bugs with it. Before, every time I would leave any EA Sports games suspended, it wouldn't connect back to EA servers until I quit the game and restarted it. Hopefully all that works correctly now.

Would those work for stereo speakers or only 5.1? I have optical connected now to my stereo system but at the moment I am only using 2.0 stereo speakers. My receiver supports both DTS and Dolby. Furthermore would DTS be pointless for stereo speakers?

Looking good, I guess we use bitstream out then set it to DD to feed our mixamps the signal it needs.

It depends on what the update is marked as - "available" or "mandatory". Only if it's marked "mandatory" will it download when you're using the console.

If marked as "available", it will only download while in low-power state (reached by pressing but not holding the power button, and also having "automatically download updates" enabled) and only at night. It also only checks for "available" updates once a night, so it's entirely possible to miss your chance for the day if you're using the system at that time.

- no, there's currently no way to manually check for updates
- over time, all "available" updates get rolled into larger "mandatory" updates
