And what you'll usually find is that in cases where a game isn't optimised for PC, it certainly isn't optimised on consoles either.

It's not that it's bad, it's just not as good as a PlayStation. In some regards ps+ is even a better offering (and cheaper) than gamespass.
That aside, I really dislike the elite, it's just crappy. And the Xbox dashboard ui/ux is terrible.
But as a device, it's….fine
My series x tho is mostly a cat fur collector, used like once a year. I really don't know why i keep it (nor why i keep my gamespass sub). I should prob just give it to a friends kid.

I think the advantage Playstation has is better physical third party offerings than Xbox, Mainly Japanese games. On Xbox, the third party support from Japanese Developers are not consistent. On playstation, you know the third party Japanese games will be there. It is hit or miss on XBOX and a lot of times, there is no physical option for third party Japanese games. Its not Xbox's first party vs Sony's first party. Its Xbox's first party VS Sony's first party and 3rd party japanese Devs, and Chinese Devs, etc. If you only like western games, you don't see this advantage Sony has.

Its not dislike towards the Xbox console, its more of the suits that handles the Xbox in general. They fucked it up with first reveal of Xbone with TV TV TV SPORTS SPORTS SPORTS front and center, then you have the mandatory Kinect, as well as no resale of the game. Its bad enough they called the Xbox after the 360 as XBOX ONE, which really doesn't make any sense at all.
Now, we have this silly "Xbox Everywhere", and the ever increasing Game Pass just so they could recoup the cost of buying Activision. No wonder gamers are very doubtful of the next gen Xbox with many seem to think it will be nothing more than just a mobile PC.

Xbox is inextricably bound to Microsoft. Microsoft is a terrible company whose anti-consumer practices have bled into their console experience.

Sony's not a whole hell of a lot better, all things considered, but Microsoft went all in this gen. And it was the worst console generation I've ever seen in more than twenty years of gaming.

The hardware as never been the problem. In fact, the hardware has been the only good part of their ecosystem. For years they didn't have shit for games, both quantity and quality were terrible. And now that they've finally started to have quality games they taken an approach that has completely disincentivized the hardware to the point it's completely redundant and unnecessary. It also doesn't help that the XSX should be $300 by now and instead it's significantly higher than when it released 5 years ago.

Microsoft themselves gave people reasons to "dislike" the console by giving people reasons to not need it (and therefore give reasons for the actual fanbase to be upset because Microsoft isn't properly supporting it).

I don't think he's talking about people on GAF. He's talking about how MS/Xbox's ambassador program and the cringey results of that. He's saying that's part of why people are negative about Xbox.
He's right that it contributes, but I think it's a minor factor. That backlash (mistrust) focuses mostly on the shills themselves. The dislike for Xbox has other roots, which have been gone over many times.

I think, if we really dig deep, a lot is just tribalism; my box v your box type of mindset. People can argue about which box does the "thing" better, but it's fairly similar between them on a macro level.
But, I think for myself, and I'd wager a lot of others, is a how Microsoft's approach to being a player in the marketplace has been to flash its "unlimited" budget to buy shit up vs a more wholistic approach to building a company culture and ingesting teams with working relationships- Bungie would have been the poster child acquisition 15 years ago for what I'm saying-
Then you have Phil and the team go around saying their talking points, only to contrary themselves the next moment; creating frustration for fans of the brand who play the "partisan politics" of being a Xbox fan - Gamepass and its whole saga is the prime example for this.
Then, and your mileage may vary and there certainly debates to have, their output of 85+ (scores are antiquated, yes yes, but a powerful and meaningful metric in many ways for these teams/corps to gain sales and insight) "masterpieces" is far and few between.
Sony has far less of an output this generation, and everyone likes to make fun of the games they focus on (for single player mainly) but they hit the right notes for mass market and are high quality, besides maybe Rockstar, no one else really hits these metrics for open world, third person games.
That creates enough of a contrast for people to dislike Xbox, in addition to just having their biases.
