Great episode. Damn good console war analogies.
And to think, Kyle using a fantasy football metaphor to explain just how much the PS4 is killing it. That like twisting the knife for any MS exec who watches this.Great episode. Damn good console war analogies.
Remember though that it was the 360 in this exact position the last time around. Cheaper, with better multiplatform performance, and in Sony's shadow when it came to high profile exclusives.
I was talking more about the exclusives that were to come, not the launch titles. And those exclusives being high profile, not necessarily sales figures. The 360 at launch didn't have a long string of exclusives to look forward to. Not compared to Sony. How was the 360 "in Sony's shadow"?
The PS3 had to launch against Gears of War, followed up by Halo 3 9-10 months later. Sony's launch lineup was dull at best, and none of their exclusives ever put up the numbers of MS's heavy hitters.
Now while I agree that the PS4 is doing great, and the Xbox One as well (but not as much as PS4), I can't share the feeling. Maybe it's because I'm not following news about them and only glance at the titles of topics in the first page here at GAF, but right now and in the near future, there's absolutely nothing interesting on them. It also comes to taste in games, but I wonder how many people share this feeling. It's a weird contrast, they are selling great, people keep talking about them, but I can't see anything interesting that would've be driving this hype, this success. And I wonder for how long this will keep up. If it indeed does drop, then I can be certain that a lot of people share this feeling, but if it doesn't, I wonder why I'm feeling this...
Kyle took the words right out of my mouth with his point about the ridiculous 20+ page GAF threads that spawn every time a new PS4/Xbone game is released at varying resolutions and frame-rates. I too hope those will one day disappear.
They won't.
Considering frame rate issues, affect gameplay...
They wont go away, and they probably shouldn't.Resolution while nice isn't important to me unless i am playing on a very large tv or a PC my opinion is no opinion.
How was the 360 "in Sony's shadow"?
(GTA4 was probably already expected to be a timed Sony exclusive based on past GTA games - who would have expected the GTA episodes being timed MS exclusives back then)

What?
What?
Hahah, that GAF shout-out. I look forward to the day GAF doesn't go batshit insane over platform differencesor maybe not
Halo 3 sold 14.5 million units, no ps3 exclusive is even remotely close to that i think
GT5 is 11 million plus. Though a gap of 3 million is still significant.

If you dont count GT5P which sold another 5 million.
however, it always baffles me that GT is sonys strongest exclusive by far.
Resistance, Motorstorm, and Genji did not really set the world on fire. Particularly not if you were to compare them to Halo, Gears, and Forza. It took years for anything to put up really big sales numbers (MGS4, Uncharted 2) but by that point MS had already set the pace for the generation.
As DanielCW did, I suppose you could argue that Microsoft were "in Sony's shadow" in the sense that many people assumed Sony's incredible streak of exclusives would continue.

This has been gone over time and time again. The 14.5 million figure was the entire series sales at the time Halo 3 launched. The last time Microsoft gave any official figures for Halo 3 it was at around 8 million.
I need to start watching this guy.
Motorstorm actually sold really well. It's figures was comparable to Forza.
As much As MS loves to pretend like Forza is hot,it's a 2+ million seller at best.

Ah ok, didn't know that, however it's apparently way past 8million, I know ******** is not providing definitive numbers, but they can't be off by THAT much:
