Watch_Dogs downgradeaton confirmed

Could it be that that Watch_Dogs 2014: May Edition makes Outlast look like a crappy game? I think maybe that's what she's trying to say. If Outlast visuals disappointed her this much and Watch Dogs impressed her, than maybe we're in for a nice surprise.

Maybe she's just impressed by the amount on the bottom line of her payslip.

Poor girl. Now she can only hope no Gaffer will make a new thread about this.

As has been said, that same trailer exists in other forms, with different boxes shown at the end. The specific trailer that leaked was for the 360 dashboard, so of course they'd only show off the 360 box.

Didn't realize that had been said. I read through the first 20 or so pages and no one mentioned that.

That being said, if it's the same exact trailer, I still think it's safe to say it's representative of the 360 version. Even AC: Black Flag looked obviously different from old-gen.

That's why is so disappointing. The life from the original reveal is gone. Everything feels flat. It's such a stark contrast between the reveal vs actual footage, and I'm frankly surprised folks mentioned they can't tell a difference.

There is a difference. It's a sunny day without wind or rain in that gameplay.

I would suggest dropping the attack on the Ubisoft Pr lady. We do not want her to lose her job over this. She is making some claims that are factually incorrect. We know she is wrong. That should be good enough for most of us on GAF.

I agree with this too. She said some dumb stuff IMO, but just leave her alone on Twitter.

Yep thats whats bothering me the most. The character models don't look all that bad but there was so many cool elements in that initial reveal that just seem to be completely gone now. :(

I don't get it. That video in the foreign language looked great. The worst part of it is the part Jett picked out because the shiny makes it look weird.

But they also showed a video a long while back, during the day, of the character walking down a street with Autumn colored tree's and it was very very full of life. Unlike this new video.

I would put a link up but I'm at work and can't search for it.

Still haven't seen Sony confirm that this downgrade was the PS4 version. Sorry guys, but unless I see actual evidence that, that video is a PS4 version, I think the majority here are telling "porkies".

So are people now going to pretend that Outlast was a visual masterpiece or something? lol

I don't think anyone is saying that. It's more that it's crisis mode at Ubi and this person is likely getting mixed messages on how to address messages she's getting on Twitter.

Or she's just botching basic PR tactics. Who knows?

I don't know quite enough about pc building to be able to say "yes" or "no" to this. I think it's been shown a few times that either way, you can get pretty damn close, provided you already have some of the needed things like the keyboard, mouse, etc.

However, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ubi have a history of releasing unoptimized games for pc? If that's true, then even if you had a rig with comparable specs to next gen systems, wouldn't Watchdogs not run as well as it does on consoles? Not a troll statement, I'm genuinely curious.

Well, I was replying to a conversation thread that started from this:

This thread just makes me sad that the industry doesn't revolve around PCs. Can't imagine where we'd be if everything was targeted at high end PC hardware.

in which case we would have a universe in which Ubisoft does not release PC ports that are utter shit.

In reality though, I guess you're right in saying that we would probably require better rigs.

Having said that, I've got a GTX 670 from 2 years back and it still runs Assassin's Creed 4 much, much better than either of the next-gen consoles could, and at the same time allowing the game to look* much better. I don't think the $150 card in question (a 750 Ti) is much worse than a GTX 670, so I'm not sure how badly PC gamers will be hit by Ubisoft's shitty PC ports

Seriously, that's the only difference you see? Even in comparison to all the other release footage of the game?œ

You say you're not defending this game, but all I've seen you do is insult people and say that essentially the bad footage doesn't exist because there's some better sequences too, which are great because to you its good enough.

I think the best of that footage is much better than the gif people were throwing a fit over, and that the reveal was nothing more than a sales pitch. But I'm not going to ignore the bad parts that are there and what has been demonstrated by the company in the past and other open world games, especially with this supposedly a PC lead platform game.

Anyway, I still hope the gameplay is fun and hasn't also been compromised in some fashion. Some of the multiplayer stuff sounded great.

I thought they were confirming the other trailer as being PS4? Not the trailer the car gif was taken from.

That's true, yeah.
The trailer doesn't look anywhere near like the E3 2012 reveal either, though, and I find it very hard to believe Ubisoft would give out b-roll footage of the last-gen version. Hell, except for the Aisha Tyler trailer they haven't shown the last-gen versions yet, not even to journalists. Why include scenes of it in b-roll footage that'll get used by magazines for their video previews?

The original 2012 E3 reveal looked fantastic with smoke blowing about the street, I certainly hope it gets those little things to as they really help with the overall feel of a living city.

Seriously.

This thread is really highlighting how over-reactive GAF has become. It's fun to some degree but this is just out of control.

I think it's fine to discuss what Ubi PR is saying and if we disagree with it.

That said, I wish they wouldn't throw her under the bus completely and I hope people don't start blowing up on Twitter.

Sorry? You must think you are funny.

Even in this vid you can see leaves and a can rolling down the street. But the weather is completely different. There will be rain and wind in the game, don't worry.
The game does look good enough for me as a Crossgen open world game, yes. Not as a nextgen only title. And yes, Ubi lied to us. That's what Ubi does.

That doesn't mean however that the gif in the op is representative of the game. That is the shame of this thread.

I'm not even sure i want this game. But if i don't buy it, it's not because of the graphics.

This thread just makes me sad that the industry doesn't revolve around PCs. Can't imagine where we'd be if everything was targeted at high end PC hardware.
It would be like the old days, perhaps, which could be interesting. We'd have games where even the fastest available PC hardware would struggle to run them smoothly. I'm sure they'd look amazing, though.

Since the E3 footage, I went into a media blackout on this game just like I've done for Dark Souls 2 and Witcher 3. I rarely preorder but I was planning to preorder this as soon as we get a release date,

Seeing this now, the 'instant preorder' sentiment has turned into a 'cautious wait-and-see'.

Ubisoft you fooled me once with FarCry 3, not falling for this kind of bait-and-switch again.

All I'm saying is that I would love to see what these games with huge budgets would look like if they didn't have to target low end hardware. I'm not saying that to shit on consoles, I feel the same way about low end PCs.

I understand that that can't happen for financial reasons, which is why it makes me sad that the industry will always be 5 years behind where it could be.

That's the reason why Star Citizen has 42 million dollars funded. It's going to be insane and blow everything else away, anything less and I'll be disappointed.
