This particular thread is focused on NPD's tracking of USA sales.
The reports we get every month / the reports Nintendo + Sony + Microsoft brag about exclusively refer to USA sales, because success in the USA market is extremely important to the console manufacturers.
However, NPD offers Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand sales data as well, in partnership with GfK.
But those markets are much smaller than the USA one, so they're not nearly as relevant.
If you combine NPD sales + GfK sales + Famitsu sales, you can get a reasonable approximation of worldwide sell-through.
